  1. Huzzah! Good to hear. I live in a multireligious household. My landlady puts up a Chr-stmas tree closer to the holiday. I'll probably take pictures, but may post photos of my Hanukkah decorations during Hanukkah as well. (an aside: I can no longer figure out how to split quotes and still put in the poster's name. Even if I input the BBCode myself...)
  2. As suspected, a Thermoworks email arrived today with new offers, as well as a few carryovers. Some of the discounts on the carryovers are less than what was offered yesterday, but the links still work. I'm not going to list those. Today being Giving Tuesday, there are two special MK4s being offered at 15% off, with a donation going to whichever organization depicted on the MK4 purchased. The link to those will be included as well.
  3. I finally joined Discord for a couple of other forums I'm on. Do I need an invite to find y'all?
  4. I'm uncertain if this is your first time using imgbb. If so, great job! I would go in and delete the [url=http://imgbb.com]and the [/url]bits around each of the image links, so that the photos aren't links to imgbb. But, if Brad doesn't mind, then leave it. You did great!
  5. Today's email from Thermoworks claims today is the last day of the Black Friday Season deals, what with it being Cyber Monday. We'll see. I'll continue to post if anything new is sent out. Here are the deals in today's email which I don't believe are carry overs. Oops... Messed up that last one. The image only goes to the rectangular trivets. Click below for the round trivets: Order Round Trivets
  6. I upload my photos to imgbb, selecting do not autodelete. Once uploaded, I edit the photo size to 450 in width and I select code for BBCode full linked. Then I copy the resulting code. I paste the code in to the More Reply Options box, and cut out the url links the code generates, so all that shows is the [img=<text.jpg>]. Unless I am linking a webite to the photo, such as the photos I'm putting in the Thermoworks Black Friday thread. Then, I copy the link url, highlight the imgbb url in the [url=imgbb.com]and paste the url for the web page I want to link in there. Clear as mud?
  7. Today's offerings. I edited out those which appear to be ongoing from previous days.
  8. Additional deals today which I don't think have yet been offerred. I'my going to make the photos a little larger; let me know if that's a problem with formatting or file size.
  9. Today's actual Black Friday email from Thermoworks repeats several offers, but I think I see a few new offers as well. I'll try to limit this post to just the new offers. If I was looking for a 4 probe WiFi thermometer, and didn't grab the Smoke X4 during the 18% off site wide sale, this looks to be the next best offer. If I didn't already have a Thermapen MK4 I would hop on this one. I don't think I would use an IR thermometer enough to justify buying a separate one. But this combination would work for me.
  10. Thermoworks email today claims they have started their Black Friday pricing. Some of the deals are for today only, though. And I still don't see the Smoke X4 or the Signals being offered on sale. There are a lot of other items discounted, though. I'm going to try to link each item photo to the offer. If I mess up, please point it out to me and I'll do my best to fix it.
  11. I now wish I had a leave in multi probe thermometer, but all I have is a store brand is single use which isn't super accurate, thus needing to take multiple readings with my Thermapen when the leave in alarm goes off. I am gifting my partner with the Smoke X2 for the holidays; now I think I'll keep the less accurate probe as well, so I can monitor both breast and thigh meat. Another thing I learned from the video is to not truss the legs together when roasting a whole turkey. Apparently leaving them untrusted helps the dark meat get to proper temperature without overcooking the breast meat.
  12. ah... But which Alton Brown method? I love the original Good Eats Roast Turkey mwthod, but AB came out with a spatchcock version he prefers. I stick with the original, though. However, I learned in this tutorial that I've been inserting my stay in probe thermometer incorrectly, that I need to take the readings with my Thermapen slower, to change the type of roasting pan I use, and to ice the breast of the bird as I take the chill off the rest of the bird before roasting. All things I can implement while following AB's method. I also have decided to put compound butter under the skin at the start, and then I'll melt more of the compound butter and brush it on the skin after the high heat roast and before putting on the foil shield. If I can get all of that out of an hour tutorial, and still use the same method I love for roasting the bird, you better believe I'm going to recommend folks view it.
  13. *cross posted from the Thermoworks thread in the Black Friday subforum* Thermoworks uploaded a turkey roasting tutorial to YouTube today. Mostly basic information with some plugging of the Thermoworks products included. However, I did learn a few new techniques I plan on implementing when roasting my turkey. If roasting turkey is a once-a-year cook for you, as it is for me, try to find the time to watch this all the way through. https://youtu.be/xDPhGgniXWE
  14. I had a suspicion Thermoworks was going to do this. I received an email today which says the 18% off site wide sale as been extended. I don't see any information on how long they're extending it for, but probably at least through today. Thermoworks also uploaded a turkey roasting tutorial to YouTube today. 15. Just opened an email from Thermoworks which says today is the last day for the site wide 18% off. If they post further deals, I'll keep sharing them.
  16. Yeah. A main reason why standing rib roast is a special occasion treat, other than preparation, is it is usually a very expensive cut. Especially, if it is actually prime grade, and not the standard choice grade most standing rib roasts on sale at grocers tend to be. However, if it is prime grade, you got an excellent price and it will be super tender.
  17. New deal today. 18% off sitewide! Not a huge discount, and I don't know if the Smoke X4 will be featured at a better price later, but it's something. And not that much less than the 20% off the Smoke X2 was offered at, nu? If I did this correctly, all images in this post should link directly to the online store site...
  18. New deal, valid today only. This is the two probe Smoke without WiFi, although their WiFi bridge is also offered. Order Order Get Both!
  19. New deal, valid today only. Order
