  1. According to the employees in the electronics departments at a couple of stores I visit, they get more returns of Trutech stuff than anything else. They basically said it is junk and for me not to bother buying it. Just passing it along. Not to say that some people haven't had good experiences with TT stuff, just what the employees told me.

Thank you, I will probably keep looking then. I am sure something else will come up. They are pretty much out of toys except they do have some sorts they like (polly pockets and Legos) so electronics is the next step. As you know, always looking ahead for the holidays LOL

I looked at the 19" truetech LCD they had for black friday. I thought that the picture quality was bad for a LCD - about the same as my 10-year-old tube TV. And the DVD "door" seemed really flimsy. JMHO.

Yes, don't want junk, want something that will last awhile for them. Thank you

  2. Sorry, I meant the dollar spot St. Patty's day stuff. But the regular St. Patty's day stuff was also 75% I think. It was consolidated with the wedding, kids crafts, and wrapping paper in the store where I noticed it. They might have salvaged it at your store. Or it might just show up again. A couple of stores had put clearance in a regular aisle in the stationery section, so you might check...

I think I will look again, it seemed weird, they always have at least one clearance end cap (still looking for the speed racer GC, they weren't out here yet) in the giftwrap area

  3. 75% here in Montana and was the only one seriously buying LOL, a few people wandering in and than left. One lady was chatting with me and I mentioned the little toys would make great party favors (she had a 3 yr boy with her) and the light clicked on for her, she started scanning and picking up items for gifts and parties. I told her that they would also make great stocking stuffers (can always take off any candy that might be attached), she was thrilled. I got some of what everyone else picked up, got 14 bags of the mini oreo packs and had the coupons and of course, we screwed up when checking out. I counted 7 coupons out, for the 14 bags but when I got up there wasn't paying attention and she thought I got 8 bags (only using 4 coupons) (duh)....might bring my receipt and coupons in and see if they would adjust but not going apes over a couple of dollars. Got lots of sprinkles, cake mixes, alittle candy not much though (was picked cleaned of most anything chocolate), small baskets, kitchen towels, some easter decorations, t-shirts, some misc stuff. Wish I found some Kelly's (I collect them), lip gloss and wilton pans or bakeware but next time LOL

  5. It's good to hear the Sam's one is holding up, I wanted to get one last year but didn't, I'm glad they are back this year, I'm pretty sure this is the way we are going to go. Can you get a cover that makes the water warmer?

You can buy solar covers (looks like big bubble wrap) to put on your pools, its necessary here in MT, we drop down at night and was losing the heat in the pool so everynight we put the wrap and cover back on.

  6. Yes, I can see your point about when you are not signed in, it automatically showed the $249 one and when signed in, it did default as the first option the $284.99 but when I click on either link (signed and unsigned in) On the right side is other options and on the signed in option, the $249 was very visibly showing. I do think you bring up a good point to maybe trying both searches to see if you are indeed getting the best price. I personally don't just go off of what comes up in search, I do look at the other options, not just Amazon's prices. I don't think you can cancel at this point, but you certainly can refuse shipment and it will automatically go back to Amazon and you could order from the other vendor. Not sure but you can check help section on this about return policy.
  7. DD got this Saturday SMIL paid $10 for it on clearance at Walmart, little did she know I had bought the princess one for 4.88 at Target and put it up for her bday the 29th...

It is HORRIBLE it doesn't work for anything, it tears everything. We've already TRIED to cut some of the included papers..would you still try to take it back?

Anyone else want to add their review?

Needless to say the princess one is headed straight back to Target...$5 in my pocket is better than this piece of junk in the closet!!

I personally would take it back and say it doesn't work? Or you could write the company

  8. Found a few CW Nemo sets. Came up NOF, so got them for $1.74. Found a Mr. Clean Car Wash set with brushes, etc. for $3.74. It wasn't marked, but I'd seen them in other stores on the clearance endcaps, so I scanned it and it was 75% off.

They marked a number of video games 50% off today, but not the ones for the DS. They also marked those Fusion MP3 & Video players 50% off and the Tinkerbell MP3 players as well.

Do you think the Spongebob fushion will go 75%? Last yr, our store pulled the Mix Max ones before they went 75%.....I would love to get the media spongebob (video one) for my son but really just wanted to spend 75%????

  9. We got one on clearance at target about 3 years ago for $75. It has held up wonderfully. The pipes look like pvc but ours is not, they are metal polls that just look like pvc in the pictures. We have used the same pump, same liner since we first bought it. We did get a puncture in because of a rock from the mower but used the patch kit 2 years ago and it still holds. We will have to replace a rope that goes around the outside that takes the stress off the legs and have had to replace some hoses but most of that is from the weather. I just love it and will get another if I ever need to replace it.

Great to know they last, I am thinking this is the way we have to go because of size, we need a much bigger one because the kids are older and need more room (12 and 13). The ones that you blow up the top ring are nice but in the bigger size they flattening out (saw several from Costco doing this). Boy sure wish i could find one for $100 or under LOL

  10. I overheard a markdown team discussing that they weren't going to markdown certain items (one was the wine chiller a month ago or so) cause they didn't think it was right for Target to sell the stuff at such low prices. This was the same couple of women after Christmas who said they didn't go down to 75% even if the other Targets in town did. And then I watched them take stuff off the shelves and put it into carts. The next day all the Christmas stuff had 75% off signs. hmmm I guess they need the stuff more than we do. I don't go to that store anymore.

sounds like they maybe violating store policy or not doing their job. Its not up to them to decide if it goes to 75%, its their management (or corporate?) that make that decision. I think if they have a problem with it, they need to find another job. I personally would of written a brief note to the manager of the store about what you heard, its interesting that they sound like they are not doing their job of marking down, instead taking the items off the floor. Do you find things marked 75% off at your store?

  11. I think it all depends on the seller. I bought my husband a $900 Titleist golf club set (the one he wanted was discontinued and no longer in the stores and the on line golf stores were even more outrageous for the set). They shipped perfectly and were in perfect condition and a year later he loves them just as much.

Yet I tried to buy a lot of used shirts for $10 + $19 shipping for my daughter and they never shipped and the seller never replied to my contacts or the dispute. So there are great sellers who I would feel comfortable buying a large item from and others who you can tell just by their listing and/or feedback that they are scheisters.

But I sell a lot of stuff you CAN get in stores... But I do not know HOW many people tell me that they just cannot get the same items in their area.... They live in mountains and rural areas,,,, I sell a lot to Alaska, Hawaii, Iowa, the Dakotas, Puerto Rico, and Guam. Just today I told a lady it would cost $26.90 (and YES, that WAS the exact cost for a 2.8 lb package) to send some shoes to New Zealand. And she was more than happy to pay that because she said shoes were like $120 US dollars there!

And I sell a lot to homebound people who cannot shop. And to a lot of business people who are too busy to go to a store. So eBay is a valuable shopping avenue for a lot of people. So to say blanketly that people should just go to the store and get it is not always possible for some....

Its interesting you said this because people ask me all the time why would someone buy from me when they could get it at the store too. My answer was just that, not everyone has the capacity or time to shop and this was easier for them. I too have alot of int'l buyers since our $ is low and also most of the items I sell are dolls and they can't get them in their country. Shipping int'l is outrageous isn't it, it must shock them as much as it still shocks me. I also agree there are bad sellers and good sellers. Unfortunately, my bad buys have been in electronics and I guess that is where eBay is really targeting the sellers (alot of the new feedback is designed to weed these types out).

  12. thanks - yes, after a week of just trying to be polite and email her and also talking to ebay thru their online chat, I decided to put the dispute out there on the paypal console and she posted 4 emails there right away, all still being unreasonable, so I just decided reasoning with her was hopeless and then escalated it to a claim later that day.

but I see that everyone is saying that I will have to pay to return the item to her before getting a refund. Wil they then refund me my original payment PLUS the return shipping? I don't see how it is that I should pay return shipping when she sent me the wrong item! That doesn't seem right at all. If that is true then I will seriously think twice about buying on ebay again! :(

Unfortunately, if the seller asks for the item back, you would than need to return at your expense (this sometimes happens with stores too) and you will get your full payment but not your return shipping (tho some sellers have been known to pay that too but don't count on it). Its not right but the way its done

  13. I have to say, some of you are very brave. There are some things - like a laptop - that I just won't buy off Ebay. Also, if I can get it at a store, I won't buy it on Ebay. I never understand why people would buy stuff on Ebay that they could purchase at their local stores or order online from a legit business.

I agree, I collect dolls so have had to buy off of eBay but now that I am in several doll chat groups, I usually can find what I am looking for. Heard one story on my doll board about a nephew who bought a laptop to the tune of $1200 (his own money only 13 yrs old) and it can all damaged, broken and doesn't work so now they have to start the paypal dispute. Also it was either not insured or underinsured. What a hard lesson to learn, its bad enough with a on line purchase from a store but at least you have your CC to back you up but its so hard to get it from sellers when something goes wrong and the wait. It can take 4-6 weeks for it to be reviewed by Paypal and there is always that chance they don't side with you. Again, large purchases using Paypal use your CC, you can always fall back on it if something goes wrong.

It use to be that you could get a good deal on eBay but I am not really seeing it much on general merchandise, if you are a collector than its probably where you have to buy from.
