Hmm, if this is the same machine that costco has in the wherehouse then it's not very sturdy. I checked it out the other day when I was doing some stocking up on the ole bulk items and it seemed like the paddles weren't responsive at all and the whole thing felt flimsy. Granted, its been sitting out on the floor being banged on by shoppers bored kids for who knows how long so that may have contributed to its state but even taking that into consideration it was not something I would count on lasting for more than 6 months. I would take a look in person before jumping.

e-rebate = submit online with compusa e-rebate center similar to costco's method although it takes a lot longer than costco.

I got one of the rigid vac's they had on sale last year for $27, been great to have. Looks like the same one is on sale this year as well for the same price.

The plus side of compusa's rebates is all rebates which are directly from compusa can be submitted online. The downside is that most of their deals involve multiple rebates and usually 2 out of the 3 rebates involved are manufacturer's and cannot be submitted online. Also, compusa's e-rebates are much slower than staples easy rebates.

You can now see the actual ad on staples.com click on 'local circular' then choose 'upcoming circular' some of the deals I posted do vary by region so make sure to check your local ad.

Since it's been opened they most likely won't do a refund w/out charging you a 15% restocking fee I'm afraid. Worth a shot though since it started acting up so quickly.

Great, thanks again! I still can't quite make up my mind if I'm going to bite on this or not. The major thing thats holding me back is that the battery that laptop comes with sucks and unfortunately the upgraded battery is $140 or so from toshiba (appears to be an odd size as well, no aftermarket solutions I could find).

Could you post the details on the $499 laptop please? From what I've heard its the A105-S101 with an in-store upgrade to 512mb but confirmation and any additional details would be excellent, thanks!

The best advice: don't start an AOL account. . .that 'free' 6 months will end up likely causing her a lot of headaches and likely some cash if she takes them up on the offer.

Oh yeah, I'll add my voice of support to those just trying to quit. Definitely very worth the aggrivation and it does get easier. I still get the occasional craving though, probably will for life. Just gotta let em pass.

Costco usually has brand name nic patches cheap and they carry a generic as well thats even cheaper. I had problems with the adhesive on the generic when I was quitting a couple years ago but my skin is kinda oily so I have problems with all of them not sticking that well. The generic just came off a little easier than the brand name.

Thanks for the reply. I did a bit more looking then suggested she buy the z2300s on amazon.uk and have them shipped to the uk from there. Theres a shipping channel set up for the school she works at where they pack up and send things to africa from the uk for no cost. Heh, she needs to wait for her next paycheck anyway, she spent too much while she's been back and is broke now.
