  1. Love the woodburning kit idea... that might be a good idea for my 10 yo ds. :)
  2. None are that huge in our neighborhood here, but when we lived in FLorida we had a holiday tradition of driving through Sonic and picking up milkshakes and then driving around looking at lights. When you live where it's so warm you have to get a bit creative with your holiday traditions!
  3. Oh, thought of one more thing. I've never done this, but I've heard of others doing it. There are services that have beauticians that will travel to a nursing home to give the residents haircuts, hairsets, etc. and you can give a gift certificate for these services...
  4. My children's grandfather is also in a nursing home and we have the same situation. A couple of years ago I took a large basket and filled it with TONS of snacks. YUMMY ones. lol All packed in small packs, individual servings, etc. Cookies, candies, crackers, muffins, brownies, etc. He loved it! Whenever anyone came to visit he could offer them a snack. He would offer them to favorite caregivers, sometimes, too. And of course, he himself could enjoy them. If the menu for the day wasn't something he particularly liked he had back-up choices. lol He really did love it and told me so more than once. :) Another year I had a friend make a photoshow and burn it to a cd/dvd of the grandkids (could be done with any family members). The nursing home has a room with a big tv and he was able to go watch it there as well as any of his friends. :)
  5. 80 min. is pretty good. i actually prefer the aa batteries. We use the rechargeable ones with our other cameras and they're cheap and we hve a 15minute recharger which is nice if you forget to charge up. I do wish the memory cards were compatible with some we already have..
  6. I am looking at the Kodak c360 at BB. I read on Amazon that there is no limit to the length of video clips it can take. Does anyone know how approximately how many nonstop minutes would fit on the different sized memory cards? Thanks for any help!
  7. You could go ahead and return it now and then IMMEDIATELY put it all on layaway. That way you can just get a price adjustment on your layaway on Black Friday OR just rebuy the stuff and then return the layaway. Either way you'd only have to put a small portion of the money down (I think 10%) and you'd have the extra cash on hand but the assurance that you still have all your items? It's extra work, but if the $ is tight (I have 3 kids so I can imagine it is with 6!), then $100 is $100. :)
  8. BX is the store on base for Air Force and perhaps other military branches. I know they have different names. You have to have a military id to get on base and to get in the BX. No good for civilians. :)
  9. If I see a great deal, I go ahead and get it and just save the receipt. Can always return it if I find a better deal before Christmas. For example the B2G1F lego deals with free shipping at Amazon last week. And games are B1G1F this week with most having free shipping. Got the Star Wars light sabre and some kind of motorcross games for the tv for the price of what Walmart has for one. Doubt I'll find them cheaper than half price between now and then. :) Possible, but doubtful!
  10. I do not have any information on it, but for must have toys, I've been known to put them on layaway at Walmart in early October and then cancel the layaway if I find a better deal BF (or pricematch at Walmart for the layaway). Either way, you have one guaranteed if you don't want to take the chance.
