  1. My kids are too old for something like this, but it is cute. I can't believe anyone would ever pay $80 for it though. $12.00 obviously is a great price, but originally $80? My guess is, they didn't sell too many at that price.
  2. Like you, this is a MUST buy for my family too. I've read a LOT of reviews of the game and just wanted to make sure you're not too disappointed. From what I've read (it's a Xmas gift here so I've not played it either), it's pretty much the same game as the others with few differences. Even some of the furnishings are still the same. I have to admit, I'm a bit discouraged, but I have also read that the online feature will be awesome. Of course, at this point, that too is a huge let down, but I'm hoping (maybe wishful thinking on my part) that more is announced later on. Maybe everything wasn't set to go at release? I just can't imagine Nintendo spent the past 3 to 4 years working on the next installment to only give us the same thing we had all along. Check out the IGN video review at Youtube. It's only 1 of many available.
  3. I keep getting 25% off any 1 item (last 2 days I've gotten the same offer), but I didn't get save $20 off $20.
  4. When my kids were younger, I shopped at Gap, Old Navy, Penney's, Sears, Kauffman's (sold to Macy's now), etc.... Now that they're older though, it's more Abercrombie, PacSun, Hollister, Buckle, Boscov's (which is new to our area since my children were little or I'd have probably shopped here all along), Victoria Secret (for PJs for my daughter and such, not sexy lingerie). I do still shop a good bit at JC Penney's too. Brand names from Boscov's, Buckle and PacSun would be, Roxy, Kirra, Quicksilver, DKNY, Apple Bottoms, Billabong, Hurley, Element, DC, Fox, O'Neill, Volcom, etc...
  5. IMO, this year won't be anything like recent years. If the economy doesn't pick up, prices will be at an all time low, but it's truly not what's in everyone's best interest.
  6. I want to get my 18 year old son and my 17 year old daughter a portable GPS system for Christmas too, but dang, this is SO confusing. I think I'm going to have to pull some reviews up on the web tomorrow. My in-laws bought the Garmin nüvi 350 2 years ago and I love it. To say that my sense of direction = nil would be the understatement of the year. I'm in PA and I had to drive home from BWI airport by myself after dropping my husband off for a flight. I was absolutely NOT anticipating that drive home because I KNEW I wouldn't be able to find my way home. We had borrowed the GPS system for the trip and I can't tell you how clear those directions were. I was blown away by the way I was so easily navigated lane by lane while leaving that airport (and all the airports I've ever been to, besides Dulles, requires some skill to exit in the proper lanes). The entire trip home, I didn't miss a single turn (and that's saying so much and if you knew my sense of direction). I don't believe it gave street names and/or route numbers etc... but it would say, you will be existing the highway to your right in 3 miles. You will be existing the highway on your right in 2 miles. Then it will start the countdown from 1 mile, 1/2 mile, 1/4 mile, etc... IMO, you'd have to be a complete moron, or have a major traffic issue such as an accident or unexpected construction, to miss your exit. If that would occur, the thing instantly says, recalculating and from there, it will take over getting you back on track. There were 2 issues that I noticed that I wasn't thrilled about. The first is, I believe the machine automatically takes the first option available rather than having an advanced system in place to get you to take the fastest route. Maybe it just seemed like that to me. I guess another possibility is that it takes the shortest route, rather than the quickest. I only noticed this because my husband drove down and he ignored it when he knew a faster way (then of course, it recalculates and puts you back on track). Perhaps you can program it ahead of time if you know the exact route you want to go. The 2nd issue was pretty minor really. I noticed when I got back to my little rinky dink town, a lot of one way streets were not programed in properly. That was no big deal since I do know how to drive the few blocks to reach my house. LOL Even if this would happen when you're not in a familiar area, if you know you can't go down a 1 way street and you don't take the turn stated, it will recalculate and get you where you're going. Ultimately though, this unit was purchased 2 years ago (Consumer Reports rated it a best buy at the time), so now I'm wondering if some of the others might be a better bet. The one my in-laws bought cost like $400 at the time they purchased it, but even today, it's listed for $155 at Amazon (where they purchased the one they bought).
  7. Thanks. My total is $15.95. I wonder if shipping was cheaper to where I live? It came up at: $10.00 subtotal $5.95 shipping ------- $15.95 total
  8. I came to the board looking for information on buying a fridge, too. I'm sorry no one has replied yet.
  9. Actually, this may be true, but you'd probably have to leave it in the microwave for a really long time. Have your son (edited, OPPS, hubby lol) watch this video. http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/experiment/00000053 You'll have to click the video link from the above link. I just happened to run across it while looking for the history of Ivory soap. LOL You can see that here at snopes: http://www.snopes.com/business/origins/ivory.asp BTW, Ivory really dries the skin. My mom bought it when we were younger, but I can't buy it now. Like many others, we use liquid soap for the moisturizing properties. Agree that it's a great deal for those who use it though.
  10. LOL He bought his GF some of the lotions, perfumes, etc....
  11. Thanks! I hopped in there tonight and was able to get my daughter 3 camisole type shirts for under $6.00. I wasn't sure if you could return clearance merchandise, so I was afraid to pick up too much. I'm taking her back to root on Christmas Eve (this way she can make sure it fits).
  12. I hope you made out as well as I did. I forgot I had gotten 2 sweatshirts on sale yesterday. One I saved $25 alone on. Anyway, I was told that they normally do not price adjust, but they would make an exception today ONLY (yeah right). They didn't want the free shirt back and they gave me 20% off everything I purchased, even items that were on sale yesterday (but are not today). I never expected that at all. I bought my son a pair of DC sneakers for an additional $8.00. I am beyond happy.
  13. Thank you. I had no problem at all using it today. I am going to print another out for my son to use tomorrow.
  14. I don't know if they will or not, but I think I'm going to try. Well, I'm dragging hubby along tomorrow, I'm going to get him to try. 20% off 200 will buy me another sweatshirt (or just shy of another one). They may want the free t-shirt back, though. I'll have mine along, just in case. I remember Toys R Us not giving me a refund one time because they gave me a stupid stuffed animal (that I didn't even want). Just take it along. 20% off is better than that t-shirt. LOL
  15. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've been putting the pets off till the very end, and now I have a great reason to buy them something super nice.
  16. Thanks. I printed it off and will try to use it tomorrow. I don't even know what I'd buy at Staples right now, but I'm sure if the coupon works, I'll find something. I think I'll check at the return counter before I attempt to get in line with it. If it doesn't work, I'll just leave.
  17. Yeah, dummy me. I read the other thread that says tomorrow everything will be 20% off at Pac Sun, so I got there and spent $200 tonight (am I dumb or what?). Anyway, they gave a free t-shirt out. It was pretty ugly, too. The guy behind the counter joked and said, well, you could use it to wax a car or something. Yeah, it was that bad.
  18. I just printed the coupon out and plan on going tomorrow to use it. Thanks so much!!!
  19. Thank you very much for the response. I guess that clears it all up. I'll try for the Sears one tomorrow morning. I read a bit more (on this site) last night after I posted, and it seems that to get lucky at Sears, I'll really have to make a dash for that tree. Happy Thanksgiving
  20. I've been thru the ads and thru them, and thru them again and I can't decide what to do. KMart has a Martha Stewart tree on sale on Thanksgiving Day for $99.99 and Sears has on in their ad for BF for the same amount. Both are 7 1/2 ft. tall, have 800 lights, and rotating stands. The one at KMart is marked to have 1093 branch tips, while the one at Sears isn't stated. These stores are an hour away and I would rather not go both days. Is anyone familiar with either of these trees? Do you have any recommendations and/or any advice you could offer? I guess I'll wait till Friday if no one responds, but I truly have no idea which might be the better tree. I'm so tired of real trees; and hanging lights, that I NEED an artificial one this year (though kids don't want a fake one - tough, T - U - F - F -as my mother always said to me. LOL). Thanks for any help you might offer.
  21. I know many people are against it, but I am constantly buying video games for my son. Please be aware that this is one heck of a deal (I paid $30 at Best Buy for this game and it's an amazing game), eBay is normally the best deal in town for all video games. If you bought regularly, you'd save so much money that if you're ripped off, you'd still have saved. BTW, I was never ripped off, but even if it did happen occasionally, you'd still end up paying less (unless the odds were really against you and if you use feedback wisely, your chances of being taken to the cleaners really drops dramatically). New releases (Xbox 360, PS3) games release at $60 (for the most part) with WII releasing at $50 (again, for the most part), but by bidding on eBay, even if it's a title that you really want on release dates, bids usually run a good $10 less (including shipping) than what you could buy them for in the store. Once the games become a little older, the savings can run much deeper. BTW, I only buy new, sealed games, so if you're willing to buy previously played games, the savings could be much more substantial (if you're willing to put in the time to get the best price available). Normally, DVDs and Video Games are the ONLY things I purchase on eBay (though there has been exceptions)..
  22. We were the a couple weeks ago, too, and I completely agree. Our portions weren't that small because we ordered fairly large meals/appetizers etc... We had Maine lobster on our platter and it was beyond disgusting (I couldn't even say it wasn't spoiled, it was that bad). I've made spiny lobster at home that's tasted better and for the record, I love Maine lobster. The shrimp scampi was great, the salads were great (I love their red wine vinaigrette dressing). We get the lobster, crab, and seafood stuffed mushrooms and while they weren't the worst we'd ever had, they were far from the best. Also on our platters (we all had the same entrees) were crab legs, and they were cold and had no meat in them at all (I enjoy them more when I make them at home and this is just something that you can do as well at home as they can when you eat out). We also had fried shrimp, which is never a favorite of mine, though I had no complaints about them at all. For the price, it will be a long time till we go again. I admit it though, at times, we call and order the lobster, crab, and seafood stuffed mushrooms to go, then just bring them home. We're usually happy to warm them up here in the middle of the day and IMO, it's much more enjoyable than paying that huge bill to be disgusted with what you're eating. BTW: that recipe is exact, IMO.
  23. I hope I don't get in trouble for this: Cheddar Bay Biscuits 2 C. Bisquick 2/3 C. milk 1/2 C. shredded Cheddar Cheese 1/2 C. butter or margarine, melted 1/4 tsp. garlic powder Heat oven to 450 degrees. Mix Bisquick, milk and cheese until a soft dough forms. Drop by spoonfuls onto an ungreased cooking sheet. Bake 8- 10 min until golden brown. Mix butter and garlic powder. Brush mixture over warm biscuits before removing from cookie sheet. For those times when you're really in the mood, yet can't get there. :)
