  1. The extra 10GC couldn't be used on Apple products. I bought one of these today and then realized I will never spend the $30 GC by the January expiration date. I plan to return it tomorrow and hope to grab one at Target. I can use that GC for groceries if nothing else. Sheila
  2. I have never owned an MP3 nor particularly wanted one, but our van has an adapter for one and it would be nice to have music when all the radio stations fade out. I probably would never use it for anything else. I would copy my personal CDs to it. I would prefer one where I could select a group of songs that I had arranged into my own categories. I am not afraid of technology, but have little patience for it, so something simple is better. Your suggestions appreciated. Sheila
  3. I saw lots of people, but they didn't seem to be buying as much. I have, in years past, filled up the van and gone home to unload before going out to buy more. This year, my purchases didn't half fill up the back of my Subaru. Sheila
  4. I thought the laptops were limit 1. Did you have someone else with you? Sheila
  5. Maybe it's just me, but it also seemed that a lot of people were being more selective. Instead of buggy loads of stuff, a lot of people in the lines had only an item or two. I think at least some people (including me) are doing more research for the best deal because times are getting so lean. I don't just grab something because the ad tells me it's a good deal anymore. Sheila
  6. Is this the Animal or the All Floors model? I bought a Root this morning. It wasn't even on sale, but with the 20% off at Linens & Things, it was a couple of dollars cheaper than I found it online. Now I just need a new big vacuum. Thanks, Sheila
  7. I tried for an hour or more to get onto their website. I finally got the message that the site was experiencing heavy traffic a couple of times and once it said it was down for maintenance. Same for Kmart.com . I guess the shoppers are overloading it. Sheila
  8. Oops. Does that mean the $3.88 hand mixer I bought this morning is a dud? DS19 wanted one for his apartment and this looked like a cheap option, but maybe not. I guess I'll give him the receipt and he can return it if it doesn't work. Sheila
  9. I didn't get on the bandwagon and buy one of these this year, though I was tempted. Hopefully by next year they won't be such a hot item and there will be good deals again. I was in line with someone at Radio Shack that was on her second store looking for one and they were out also. Sheila
  10. I read here that the $229 Best Buy laptop will need a memory upgrade. There are several upgrades available on BF, but I don't know which one(s) would work in this computer. Has anyone figured that out and can you point me to the right deal? DD, who starts law school next year, is planning on camping out to try to get one of these. Her old laptop is three years old and she's afraid it won't last much longer. Thanks, Sheila
  11. Ordered this Saturday and it came yesterday. I was having a busy day, so haven't opened the box yet. Wanted time to play with it. Sheila
  12. Any deals on a Canon Powershot G9 or something that would have all the features my daughter (who is an aspiring photographer) will want? I can't afford to go all the way to a SLR and this one seemed the best choice. I also want to try to stay with one that uses SD cards, since we have a lot of those from our old cameras. Sheila
  13. I saw on another board that Costco has the Garmin Nuvi 650 for $299 right now. I was considering the 660, but I don't need the bluetooth and FM capabilities, which seem to be the only differences between the two. I'd have to renew my lapsed Costco membership, but I'm tempted to just order this and sleep in Black Friday. What do you think? Sheila
  14. Markster, What a wonderful summary you have at the start of this thread! Thank you SO much for taking the time to do this. I want a widescreen because I don't always see so well any more. I believe the Garmin Nuvi 660 actually has a wider screen than the standard models. I was leaning toward the TomTom One XL, but the info here about the more accurate routing is pushing me towards the Garmin models. It does concern me a bit, however, that their maps are apparently old and it's going to cost me to update them. Sheila
