I have no idea how to work it out this year. I need one of the ds lites so trying to figure out how early to get there but hubby works 3rd shift that day so don't even know if I'll be able to get there before 8 am at all

absolutely "premake" lunch or whatever... we usually do the baking at my house since I have double ovens so mom always brings something to warm on the stove for lunch... also... we always have our sugar cookies already cut out and placed on parchment sheets so that we can just place them on the baking sheets and in the oven they go... we do the same with the gingerbread men.... we also premake the peanut butter balls for the buckeyes (which we freeze first for easier dunking into the chocolate) and the peanut butter blossoms...

The actual program is really very simple.. create an account, waitlist or download if available, then personally I hook up my nook and transfer the documents. But if there really is nothing available then I will say that the Kindle does (from what I have seen/heard) have a much larger selection of free books ready to download. You obviously know your situation better than any of us and I'm sure she'll like either one :)

Agree... borrowing from Overdrive is EXTREMELY easy. I've been borrowing one a week for at least the last 2 months with no problems. I keep my account stocked with waitlisted items and when they become available I download them. Yes you only get them for 14 days but thats not a problem for me since I usually finish a book in just a couple days.

I would think you would be fine... we usually make ours right after thanksgiving... and i take a plate into work usually the week before christmas... and then my family is still pulling cookies out of the freezer well into January lol

me, my mom and my grams spend a whole day baking every year and we do everything from m&m cookies to 7 layer bars to peppermint bark and we freeze everything. I've never had a problem with it tasting freezer burnt. We layer ours in tins and tupperware with waxed paper between the layers and then i usually just get out what i need for cookies plates. If we didn't do this then I wouldn't have a place to store everything lol as I usually end up with about 20 tins/tupperware/baggies FULL of cookies. The only thing i think i wouldn't freeze are the pretzels.

I actually like it...found stuff that ds7 wants...hopefully I can get the stuff online since there's not a tru close to me...maybe since it seems lots are disappointed online traffic won't be as high lol

my mom always did the christmas eve pj's for us and i've continued that tradition with my kids. The first friday in december me, my mom and my grandma get together for a marathon cookie making day :) That same weekend we usually put the tree up. Once I get the lights on the kids usually do almost all of the decorating while I take pictures. A few days before Christmas (we try to make it Christmas Eve but it doesn't always work out) we invite my dad, grandma and my brother and his kids over to do our Christmas exchange with them. Another night we do the same thing at my mom's. Christmas morning I try to make it so that we take turns opening stuff up one at a time so that we can all see what everyone has gotten... that lasts about 2 presents for the kids and then its a free for all lol. Once the mayhem has settled we usually have to get ready to make the rounds :)

DS7 wrote his out yesterday... definitely top of the list is a ds... and other random stuff... looks like Santa's gonna have to give in this year and get that poor boy his ds lol

ok... this may be a stupid question but here goes... can you completely turn off the internet on these... i've been trying to figure out if the DSLite is internet capable at all and thought i saw where it was... i've looked at so much stuff my eyes are crossed lol.. we're thinking of getting my ds7 one of these but I don't think he has any business being online with it at all... thats one of the main reasons he doesnt have one yet and he's been begging for one
