  1. I have to say, some of you are very brave. There are some things - like a laptop - that I just won't buy off Ebay. Also, if I can get it at a store, I won't buy it on Ebay. I never understand why people would buy stuff on Ebay that they could purchase at their local stores or order online from a legit business.
  2. I agree...Ebay shipping is out of control! I don't think some sellers realize that you could pay a few dollars more and get the item (new in some cases) from Amazon or another retailer and get free shipping!!! I was looking at used DVDs & Webkinz for the kids and there are people who expect you to pay over $6 to ship these light items! For these high fees I end up with items shipped in these hand-made boxes, or some crappy envelope or once someone shipped some sheets to me in a Glad Trash Bag (warehouse store size) box!!!

Semperwife I understand what you're saying but many times I've paid high prices for shipping and found my stuff shipped Media Mail! Also, I ship a lot of things to friends and I find if I use my own boxes and not that flat rate priority mail box, I can ship priority mail cheaper. Those pre-priced boxes can be a rip-off.

  3. Just my 2 cents but they don't HAVE to give it to you for that price. It was an error, the item was ringing up the correct price and it was your decision to buy it or not. Someone obviously put this toilet seat in the wrong place. Also, there have been plenty of times things have been in the wrong place on the shelves. I'm always at the toy dept or health & beauty dept. where items are always misplaced. In fact, Walmart raised it prices on the water I like and my store still has the old price listed on the shelf but it rings up the new higher price. I could probably get them to honor the old price but it's not worth the hassle.

However, there was no reason for the employee to be rude to you. I've worked in retail and customer service and once a decision is made, it's done. You can argue with me but I just nod and ask what you want to do.

  4. I have heard that Mike's is funny about signing in at the store. Also keep in mind, if the coupons aren't in the paper that week (they are slowing down with the coupons after the holidays) they won't take them.

Also, just want to say again that they won't "share" internet coupons. As someone mentioned, if you have an ACM internet coupon, you can't use it at Mike's or Joanne's and vice versa.

Mike's never has internet coupons. You can also just go to the ACM website and do a store locator search and it will have the coupon.

  5. What size Tide was that? Also which type of Tide (w/bleach alternative, w/Febreeze, Tide Free). I'll have to check my Walmart. Someone posted a while back that their CVS was getting rid of their Tide and had marked it down to I think it was $1.99 or so. The reasoning was something to do with Walmart not wanting them to make that size anymore.
  6. Michael's must have gone 50% off earlier this week. I went to 2 on Xmas Eve and they didn't have much left (though they did have quite a bit of lights and outdoor decor). But considering all the stuff they had they really didn't have much - they started putting up stuff for Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day.
  7. About the laptops, you can look but I agree, that's not really going to go clearance right now. I keep my eyes open though for the laptops though. I would think they would want to try and sell them before they do inventory.

Maybe you should create a new thread asking about laptops deals. I know in some of the WII threads we seemed to have some people with some inside info at stores like BB and CC. Perhaps someone can give you the scoop.

Also, I'd call stores ahead of time and get their hours or go to the store and look on the door. I wouldn't trust the web.

  8. I have no children but I hate telling people what I want. Most of the time they don't get it for me anyway and I usually end up not getting it myself during the Xmas sales and miss out. I believe Christmas is for kids and spend way too much money on my friends kids, however we all have a little kid inside of us - especially at Xmas time, so if someone wants to get you something just give them some ideas. I usually give different items in different price ranges so the person can pick something appropriate - a book, a CD, a calendar. This are just token gifts anyway. Just b/c you're an adult doesn't mean you can't enjoy!
