  1. whatever MP3 player you get my advice is to make sure you can charge it by plugging it into the computer USB port. Saves a lot on buying batteries all the time.

Interesting. I prefer a battery since I then don't have to bother with having to pull it out of my workout bag and charge it. I also love the Fm tuner.

    Sansa rules.

  2. Every year this comes up, and the posters split between those who say "we earned the tickets and we can do as we please" and those who say "we waited in line longer than the buyers and should get first dibs on any extra tickets". Like years past I say, "get your rumps up there earlier than the sellers if you want a guaranty of availability." You weren't willing to camp out as long, so too bad, you risk not getting an item. Someone else was willing to work harder than you (i.e. stand in line longer) to get something. That's what this country's economic system used to be all about. If you have to have something, get there on Thursday morning before 10 am. Then you'll get it. Saving places (anthing more than 1 for 1 replacement) and line cutting is another matter and should be met with public flogging

There's also people like me who 1. no way in hell would camp out for two friggin days for anything and 2. hope it rains/snows on Thanksgiving day (right after my roadrace).

    :D

  3. Last year on BF we got a Brother laser jet from Staples. LOVE ITTTT!!!!! A year later and I've still never replaced the toner! And I print atleast 5 full pages of black text 5 days a week :)

I think the last I checked we has printed over 2k pages. close to 3k. Toner is extremely cheap. I purchased an extra cartridge of it a few months ago from inkjet superstore for only 27 dollars. Yes, you can't print pictures on a b&w laser jet...but that's pretty much a given...Staples has one just like it onsale on BF again this year. 89.98

I'll check that out. Any opinions on the HP printers in that ad?
  4. I don't want to print photos.

I'd go for a color if the deal was right.

Can I get a decent color laser for less then $150?

It's going to be used as a home office printer. We retired this year and I lost access to my laser printer at work.

No network. I just hook my laptop up to it when I need to print.

  5. Many years ago I worked retail. (yes, for mininum wage) I worked for "Roses" I loved, loved, loved my job... I worked for great managers that firmly believed "the customer was ALWAYS right, even when they were wrong." The managers treated all the employees like family, but any disrespect... toward customers, or co workers was dealt with quickly and harshly at times.

Our store was always at the top in sales for our region. I think a lot of the service problems we see in stores now has a lot moreto do with the leadership than the paychecks people are bringing home.

That's exactly how it should be handled.

You lead by example and you have zero tolerance for bad behavior.

  6. As someone who ran my own business and hired and fired more people than I care to remember, I hate to be the one to inform those that think that wages are somehow tied to better service that they are incredibly naive.

In all my years of experience, my firsthand account is that it's just not so.

There are ways to improve customer service, increasing pay isn't one of them.
