  1. I plan to use mine as a way to record favorite shows and an occasional movie. Basically as a high tech VCR with cheaper, smaller media that doesn't degrade (to the eye/ear of the viewer) over time like a VHS tape. The DiVX playback feature is one I really wanted because of the popularity of that format on home-made/encoded videos found online.
  2. FYI. officemax has the lite-on lvw-1105hc today fir 69 after rebates. I was the first to grab one this morning when officemax opened. I dont know how big the draw was for these, but compared to the other choices of dvd recorders this one seems to be excellent. It plays DIVX (read: movies you download from the internet) which no other dvd recorders on sale today do. it is dual format (records to dvd-r and dvd+r plus dvdrw). If you are still shopping for one, I'd check with officemax to see if they have any left.
  3. I'd go with the stanley too. If the tools inside are like other stanley tools I've used, that is a great bonus.
  4. If it's advertised as a DVD writer or DVD burner than it will do that. I haven't seen any dvd burners lately that don't write to both DVD +/- R.
  5. Thanks, this is a good deal. $5 after shipping...
  6. If you buy the computer, download a program called "Cpuz" (google it) which will tell you exactly what type of ram you have. You can then buy matching ram of any size (512 would be good, you could also go with a 1gb but it would be overkill) from newegg or countless other places including at best buy or circuit city or frys. One new 512 chip + the original 256 would give you 784 which is good. In case you didn't know, the motherboard has 2 slots in it for memory. one contains the 256, the other is empty, which is where the 512 goes. memory is very easy to install, just line up the notch and press it into place, then swing the little tabs over each end (you'll see how easy..) when you ask about the gigabyte, I think you mean the hard drive. the hard drive it comes with will be more than enough! your camera will work fine too. if you don't have the original CD that came with it (with the drivers) you can surely download them online. In personal defense of emachines- my last 2 computers have been emachines and never gave me a problem. My dad had one for 3 years with no problems. My mom has one now with no problems. I guess like with anything, some people have problems and some dont.

    Walmart PM guide

Wow, good idea! I was going to try best buy for Call of Duty 2 for PC for $25, but I can just go to walmart now (much closer to home; don't know about differences in crowding)..
  8. umm, have you seen the reviews for this thing? I hope you're good with the electrical tape you'll need to fix the poor stitching.
  9. The difference is that the store is a place for people to go to buy (insert item here) and its very concievable that the store would sell all the stock if truly people were only buying 1 (or whatever they needed for non-resale use). By you standing in line and taking the stock for your own resale use, you are depriving people at the end of the line from getting the item. They must go through you, or elsewhere, to get it, and pay a premium, because you horded them. In other words, your contention that the people who buy your item are not willing to do anything more than clicking their mouse, is wrong because they may be the same people standing at the end of the line who went there to make an honest purchase but could not since you bought them.
  10. Is the ad search feature still available on the main BF page here? I don't seem to see it in the "lite" version. It was great and the linked items separated this site from the others. Now there's not even ad search anymore ??
  11. Yep, that's there to discourage hording but I don't think anyone is going to look too closely at it. If they collect your address info with a computer at the time of sale, I'd be worried about the computer flagging the 2nd sale because of a duplicate address, but if not I wouldn't worry. Happy hording. :)
  12. I had bad experience with a cyberhome 1600 as well. Mine had a bad picture, and beyond that would not work with any media I tried in it so I returned it. Even if the media did work, the picture quality would have made me take it back. the samsung at BB has mixed reviews. I am looking at the Lite-on that's going to be on sale at Officemax. I believe it will record to DVD+-R as well as play DIVX. All of the DVD recorders Ive looked at lately have burned to DVD-RWs. There is no DVD+RW recorder yet AFAIK, just DVD-RW. If your recorder burns only +R or -R, the only thing you have to know is that's the type of media to put in it..

    Officemax lines?

Having not doorbusted on any BF before... Should I expect a big line at officemax? They open at 7am. There's a DVD recorder I've got my eye on and would like to get my mitts on. Thanks
  14. trutech? If you google trutech dvd recorder you'll see the target site with the 99 price as well as 8 reviews. Looks like something to steer clear of.
