  1. What makes them "easy"? I want to get the $15 Flash Drive, but part of the price break includes easy rebates. It will cost me $25 out of pocket, but I could go to Fry's and get one for $10 (it's half the storage) out of pocket.

Want to know what "easy" means before I head to Fry's (15 minutes further away).

  2. I saw this exact same model at Office Depot on display and it looked really nice. It was hooked up to a DVD player though so I dunno what it looks like with SD or HD tv hooked up.

I am really really tempted to buy this right now, but I just spent a lot of money on my laptop (a lot for me, a college student) and XMAS is coming up. Anyone see the price of LCD TVs around 26"-32" coming down in price this upcoming year?

  3. No complaints! I have a desktop that has a lot better hardware, but I am stuck on the laptop!

It's not for games and the like, but it's perfect for surfing the web and doing basic stuff.

Actually, now that I think of it the battery life is horrible. I think I got an hour and 20 minutes on it yesterday. I think after Xmas I will upgrade to the 8-cell batter on Toshiba's webstie.

  4. I am using MONSTER THX component cable with connects the comcast hdtv box to the lcd. Is there anyway to make the non-hd channels look clear like they do on my sony trintron tv or is it just something that i'm gonna have to live with. This is not good because I wasn't expecting the channels to be fuzzy looking. What bout the HD plasma tvs? do they look like this too and only clear on HD channels?

An HD plasma wouldn't make a difference. If you have any HD tv be it plasma, LCD, DLP it will make Standard Definition TV look worse. These tv's are built for resolution that is a lot higher than that of Standard Definition.

No offense, but you should have done some research before buying the TV, if you did this would be one of the first things you discovered. I found this out when I was in the market for an HDTV. You are basically going to have to watch only HD channels, tolerate the quality of the SD channels on your new tv, or just wait until all channels are broadcast in HD (may be awhile, some say a year or two others say 5+).

  5. I have a question for those that bought that 32 inch WESTINGHOUSE LCD AT BEST BUY!. I just received my order today and when i connected it to my comcast HDTV box, the picture was not even clear at all. The HDTV Channels look clear and alot better and I connected using component cable. Can someone help me out and explain to me why the pictures on the local channels/non hdtv channels are not clear at all? Could it be the signal thats coming from comcast? it shouldn't be the lcd b/c when i play dvds it looks perfect. does anyone has any suggestions? I tried connecting it through DVI and it still dont look any better. The best buy said its either the box or the cable. can someone who has bought this item, please help me out!!!! I also have a sony trintron i bought several years ago and the cable going through that tv looks fine and pictures are clear. please help

Standard Definition channels won't look better on an HDTV. They are compressed and have to be upconverted by the TV so it doesn't look good. It's the sad reality of HD and the current state of HD channels being offered. This is why there is a debate between EDTV and HDTV. EDTV doesn't look as good on HD channels, but it makes standard definition channels look really good.

You will have to live with it until most channels switch to HD.

  6. To make a long story short, they wouldn't let me sign up for the $15/month plan ... at first. I had to argue with the associate and then manager who kept telling me it wasn't allowed (until I showed him the text in the ad) and then he went to an argument that AOL wouldn't work that way in their system and AOL would charge me the higher rate anyway. He finally caved and told the associate to do it. I stood behind the associate as his did it electronically and it said right on the screen that you could sign up for the AOL for Broadband for $15/month for 1 year and get the $250 off, so I'm not sure what they were trying to pull.

So yes, I did get the $250 off by signing up for $15/month. I think I may just cancel it now and have them charge me the $180 so I don't have to worry about it.

I did the same thing $15 a month, but am seriously thinking of caneling and just paying the difference. The whole AOL rebate thing was a fiasco/nightmare that I almost want to just eat the $70 difference and still enjoy a great deal on a decent laptop.

You can see the manual, what kind of RAM, chipset, etc...If you ever need tech help this info will come in handy.

If you go to Toshibadirect.com you can buy an 8-cell battery for $100 which gives you close to 3 hours of battery life.

  8. A guy in one of the lines I was in had a good idea. Requiring multiple tickets to get an item. So like at 2:00 they come out and hand out ticket 1 for the item. 20 minutes later or so they come through and hand out ticket 2. They do this several times, at random time intervals. If you're in the car getting warm while someone holds your spot, then you miss getting the ticket. Then when it comes time to buy the item you have to have all the tickets in order to get it. If you missed one, you're SOL.

That's not totally fair. Especially after Thanksgiving. I got in line at 8:45 pm and was 15th. Around 3am, I had to use the restroom so my cousin held my spot as I went to a gas station for 10 minutes. I was in line for a total of 8 hours and 15 at the gas station/car on the way to the station.

People should be allowed to relieve themselves.

  9. Wow, was it a culture shock!

Got there are 8:45 and was the 15th person in line. The night wasn't so bad, the people for the most part were cool, but some were just awful. The entire management of the CC I went to was horrible.

I am not exagerating, when I say this. When the doors opened I got into the laptop line with my voucher. I was 10th in line....It took 2 hours and 45 minutes until I got to the register to ring my order up! One lady was at the register for 45 minutes with 3 managers looking at the computer not knowing what to do.

They refused to open up another register and get the people in line. Then their $250 rebate for AOL wasn't working so you had to pay full price then in a couple days it would be credited back, but people bitched saying it was false advertising and they gave us all $250 gift cards to be used to bring the price down.

It was a total mess, but I got my laptop!

  10. What seems to be the best deal for a LCD TV under $200.00?

I like CC's Polaroid. I went into the store and looked at a few and this is very nice quality and will be $188 I believe. It's also HD Ready.

  11. eMachines are nice computers. I have had 2 and they both worked great. I even installed a nice video card into my AGP slot and I have played some solid games with solid graphics.

PC Mag rated eMachines number 1 in customer satisfaction in 2004 and HP/Compaq at the bottom. The biggest myth out there is that HP and Compaq are solid machines.

People get false impressions on things just based on the price. Just because something is less expensive doesn't make it an inferior product. There are better computers out there, but most of those computers are intended for people who use it for very specific things.

  12. I hope this ? makes sense. I have Comcast cable connection. If I signed up for the AOL broadband plan to save $70, is there any information I would need to know about the plan I currently have when I fill out the AOL paperwork? My husband won't be with me and he's the technical one. Thanks!

No, all they'll ask you is for your credit card number or banking information. You may not even need to give them that, you could pay by check every month.

  13. The title is mean to say what is the most unorganized store to avoid.

If I titled it "best" store it would have to be a store that is in order and has their crap together unlike WM.

It's late and I am bored, but I am an English major so I am being picky.

You are wrong. When you say, "What is the worst store to avoid" you are saying what store not to avoid.

The worst store to avoid suggests it's the worst idea to avoid that particular store.

"What is the best store to avoid" suggests your best option to avoid a store, which is what your intention of the thread is.
