  1. cake supply shops sometimes have those large cutters

I've also used the Pampered Chef heart stone to make a huge chocolate for teachers

or line a funnel with foil and make a large 'hershey like' kiss chocolate

one year the boyz and I made huge cookie wreaths for the teachers...but mind you, these are teachers we know pretty well...I do know some teachers who won't eat anything made at some peoples homes

honestly, the way this season is going, I'd be THRILLED with some hand sanitizer that is scented nicely or mixed with lotion...I am going through TONS of it (and my sons teacher - we work in the same building- told me all he wants is more Clorox wipes and facial tissue lol)

how about a coupon book filled with things you would be willing to volunteer for:

reading a story to the class

making a treat (when it's NOT a party or your normal treat day)

    organizing a game at recess

organizing and doing a craft with the class

coming in and doing 'odds and ends' for the teacher (the non-glamorous stuff)

  2. bakugan

    wimpy kid books

any kind of Guiness record books

Ripley's Believe it or Not type books

    video games

depends on the boy, but Zhu Zhu's (mine want them)

    bike

    rip stick

    skate board

    movies

collectible cards (they have soooo many kinds...you should be able to find something he likes)

  3. I wouldn't put stuff up now "just because" but having family visit that won't be here for Christmas, GO FOR IT!

I actually held a "all holiday" dinner when my brother and his family were here last summer....we had decorations for every holiday up and had a huge meal (turkey, stuffing, cranberries, etc...in July!)

  4. NO MUGS!!!

a really nice bag is nice

gift certs to book stores, coffee shops, toys r us, etc are good

NICE hand santizer (like above, think Bath and Body...stuff for teacher, not classroom)

    books for the class

    art supplies

    movies for the class

candies only if you KNOW it is something they like (like you always see a Hershey bar on their desk, then that would be good, etc)

honestly, it IS the thought that counts though

  5. I work at Kohls...those books and animals are year round and each is $5

you can NOT use any discounts on them cause the entire profit goes to a children's charity in the store area (I work about 60 miles from Detroit and our profits go to Children's Hospital in Detroit...other stores may give that money to other children's charities)

  6. yes, some WMs DO take stuff off the shelves so you can't price match...a few years ago I had to run up to WM on Thanksgiving night (cold meds for my ds), and I decided to gather the movies I wanted to pricematch and put them in one place so I wouldn't have to fight the crowds in the tiny area the movies are in...

BF morning, I get my movies from their hiding place and take them to the register to PM and a manager looked at them and looked at me and actually told me that I had the only ones in the entire store...funny since there were TONS of them just a few hours before and I was one of the very first people in the store that morning (another cashier told me that they had pulled them off the shelves just before they opened the doors)

  7. my other favorite, but easy snack to make (I'm very kid oriented) is Christmas Wreaths

make rice cereal treats, but instead of using rice cereal, you use a flake cereal

    6 cups cereal

    1 bag marshmallows

    1 stick butter

combine in pot on stove until marshmallows and butter have melted and coated all the cereal

I like to add green food coloring to make the cereal look like leaves

put on food service gloves and form 'wreaths' out of cereal and place on wax paper

before they dry, add a few cinnamon red hots for holly berries

    eat and enjoy!

  8. I like to do things a little NONtraditionally....my favorite dessert is icecream...

so to go with the holiday spirit, which for me means indulgence ;) I like to set up an icecream bar with every topping you could want...

    vanilla icecream

chocolate, caramel, butterscotch, strawberry and other sauces

    cherries

    sprinkles

    chocolate chips

    bananas

    nuts

    marshmallows

to make it REALLY special I will set out brownies so people can make brownie sundaes :)

  9. my FIRST year going I started out at our Walmart, which was NOT a 24 hour store, so we stood in line in the COLD for hours and hours and as it got closer to the time for the doors to open, the line started crushing forward (partly to keep the line jumpers out and partly just crazy!), as we went through the doors, I LITERALLY picked my feet up and was carried in by the crush of the crowd!!!
  10. If this year's Walmart BF ad is anything like the ones from the last few years, then they can wait until AFTER Black Friday to release it as far as I'm concerned. They really need to funnel some of the money the spend on their legal department on hiring someone in marketing who knows what an exciting Black Friday ad looks like.
