  1. Westinghouse 37-inch HD/LCD 1080p TV $799.99 OMFG!@#!@#!@#@!#!@#!@#!@# That's just CRAZY!!!!! :eyepoppin
  2. Stopped out today and found out some details. 51" DLP unknown brand will be on sale There will be a cheap laptop like last year...guessing $450 or less...last years AR was $380 The employees don't know the exact details yet, well at least the floor crew they have generics but won't be told pricing until Tuesday when they have their prep-meetings.
  3. I'm looking at getting a HTB (home theater in a box) BF or sometime this Christmas season. Budget I'm looking at $400 tops for a 5.1 or better system with HDMI and possible a built-in DVD player support up-converting to HD. Suggestions, thoughts?
  4. IMO the employees should be worried about two things...checking out people and conflicts. The lines at the stores once you get in are horrible....I went to BB a few years ago and someone had the bright idea to box off the isles so people only went one way....which is fine for checking out but made people run all the way around the store (the wrong way) to get an item then do a 180 and walk around the store again to check out....by that time the ECUT(estimated checkout time) was over an hour, then a sales person said to check out by the computer dept because I had blank cds/dvds/pen drive/ect then about 30 minutes later they said unless your buying an actual computer you need to be in the main line...so to the end of a 3 hour line. My answer "Really?, you can keep your sh** then" and I walked out and have not been back to that store since.
  5. Depends on the item, a couple years ago we got a laptop from there around $1,200...cheapest at the time were in the $800 range......had to replace the keyboard, battery (twice), motherboard, hard drive, ram, then got a new one after they finally caved in after looking up the problems with the specific line;). Depends on the item and how well you'll think it will last....for the door-buster laptop's....forget it, in a year if it dies buy a new one....the cost will be the same as the warranty, however if you buy a $5k LCD/Plasma TV.....why not, if it fails it's covered.....color goes funny/back-light fails/picture distortion/contrast consistency problems.
  6. Just out of curiosity as they typically arn't included. Has anyone seen any American TV http://www.americantv.com ads?....last year they had they didn't have any ads posted anywhere but for those that went found cheaper laptops than BB or WM.....$380 after $100 MR
  7. In going against the tides I would have to say Toys-R-Us.....I avoid the store at all costs but for those who line up there for some reason every year for the last 3 years the cops have taken a couple people each year for a ride after fights broke out.
  8. In the Journal Sentinel 11/12 Business section, page 5D titled "Sneak a Peek At Sale Prices" by Jaclyne Badal...it's in the WSJ area but I'm not seeing it posted online anywhere.
  9. 11/12 Sunday paper Business section readers will find an article pointing them here, welcome.
  10. These are the $$$ amount off, not the actual price.

  12. Agreed and also dropping the price to the sub-$200 range.
  13. Over the last couple of years I've been seeing more and more day of and day after stuff being listed (some even time-based) for some online sellers.....ie newegg, tigerdirect, ect....might be an alternative for some to save the drive in the cold. Granted the kind of items would be more in the lines of hard drives, memory, video cards, ect.....leaving desktops/laptops/tvs/ect for the retail stores. Your Thoughts?
  14. Correct, last year walmart had a sub-$400 laptop and it was a sub-$600 laptop in wisconsin, in northern ILL it was sub-$500 near the boarder and stores a bit in was sub-$400 As for the temp, I've seen it be in the mid 40's and sunny to the teens with high winds.
  15. picked up the $549 desktop from CC, works great so far...no returns yet. Friend of mine got the cheap emachine's desktop from BB and had to return it for DOA....wouldn't boot correctly...from what he described faulty sata controller on the motherboard.
  16. I actually went to CC and it was much better than BB or WM in my area.
  17. Toshiba from CC From BB the Toshiba had some kids trying to scalp....noone bought the scalped tickets and they had their tickets pulled and kicked out of the store after 2 hours of trying it outside the store.
  18. CC was nice and peaceful BB had a bunch of shoving around Toys'r'us had the cops called for the violence....god it's a fricken toy store.
  19. I was about 60th in line and they were out...there were still about 5 of 17 left of the HP desktops for $549
  20. at CC here we didn't have any problems until about 5 minutes before the store opened....a large group of people were standing around the 1st row of cars right infront of the doors, the guys from CC noticed and as the doors opened they had 6 guys from receiving stand in the front and block them from cutting....it helped but a couple still slipped through.
  21. loss leaders....and aiming on head hunting the competition.
  22. To bad that does nothing for you when it comes to computers as they are all "wm" models aka....walmart only models.
  23. I don't think local laws are the force behind the walmart price differences to the degree that they are. I highly doubt Walmart's cost is above $450 per laptop so the $488 as listed in some areas would be that of all places not $378 & $388. Moreso it done by competition for one and time period in a given area. If there is a lot of competition they would sell lower(not by store but area) to capture the greatest percentage of the consumers dollar as they can while forcing the competition out of business(preditor tactics...) but then after competition leaves an area they would be allowed to play with the prices a bit more and slowly start jacking up the prices. Some examples.... On one side of town the same dairy product found at walmart is $1.50 in an area with a lot of competition while in an area where they forced kmart almost out of business already and have put kohls and sentry out of business they are upto $2.39......the prices have been climbing in 10 cent or smaller increments over the last year while the price on the otherside of town remains constant. A couple years ago a walmart was built up by my parents...rural community and within 2yrs the kmart who's lot was full all the time along with the local hardware stores went from full to empty. The problem with the small town is not only did kmart close it's doors but the local's who owned those small businesses and were put out of business by walmart are now on the town board and are refusing to let walmart put in a supercenter so they can put three grociery stores out of business. Yes walmart does provide jobs.....ones that have crap pay, lots of part-time(without benefits), and you work around "Sam".
