i've got the box right in front of me. The software is storagesync, which is owned by simpletech. there is no exact review that I could find about it, but in general it's good a quite good feedback.

I went even to the t-mobile stores to find out if we can just get a sim card. Unlike their counterpart at the foreign countries, US cell phones just won't cell the sim card alone. mrn8, do you know where one can get a prepaid sim card?

cheapest one is t-mobile. there is a phone with $10 airtime for $40 at walmart or target. the problem is there is no way you can just buy a sim card and activate it. it always bundled with a phone.

it's worth it as RossMAN said. not only recording feature, but the fact that you can skip all those commercials, and save tons of time.. albeit your tv watching times may increase
