  1. PS3s aren't going to be BF'd.... period. PS2...... maybe.
  2. Those SPs that were on the shelves with the different bar codes last were the newer models that had just been released (they had improved backlit screens). The BF models were the older version. I can't get mine away from my daughter long enough to play it, but the wife and I are considering getting a GB Micro for her despite the smaller screen (2" vs 2.9").
  3. It's a DS Lite (your choice of color) with your choice of one game (some games will raise the price) and one accessory. Available on Walmart.com only right now.
  4. Chief.... I work not far from that Fry's and Best Buy. Arrowhead Mall makes for a good starting location. Because from there you can go right down Bell Road and find just about everything imaginable. And there's a WalMart and Sam's Club right up the Loop 101 on Union Hills. Unfortunately, MetroCenter isn't what it used to be, other than I like the Sears there more.
  5. My wife was in the laptop line last year and there were several people that tried breaking into the line. They were able to get a couple of employees over to run most of them out.
  6. Thanx for correcting it. I originally had Symphonic in my post, but changed it right before posting and after looking at the 2005 ad listing ('cuz I couldn't remember the LCD brands).
  7. They'll have several models.... They blitzed the 23" Durabrand tube model last year for $99 and my WalMart spent about 3 months trying to get rid of them all (after they dropped them to $88). But the 7" Durabrand portable DVD players and 15" Symphonic LCD TVs all went in about 30 minutes. So unless the TV is a flat screen or LCD, it's not going to be worthwhile.
  8. I'm curious if WM will BF any gaming consoles this time. With the PS3 and Nintendo Wii coming over the next couple of months, I can see a blowout of PS2s and GameCubes. Or possibly even one of the handhelds (the Nintendo DS has been replaced with the DS Lite) My stepson does the parking lot security at my WM and came home the other night to let me know the price on the Nintendo GC controllers have been dropped down to $11.83 from $19.95. So it looks as if the move is already on to clear out space for the new stuff.
  9. Mine only had 9 of the plasmas and they had them out front at the checkout area, already on gondolas right next to the stack of desktops I was standing next to. And by 2am when I got there there were exactly 9 people, lined up across each one. :)
  10. There have been a few different reasons, Ross. But the biggest one is I just haven't had the time to get it out.
  11. My WalMart laptop from last year is still sealed in the box. But I'm getting the itch to get it out (actually... I'm getting tired of the wife whining about me using her VAIO ) But we also got the desktop and had it setup before Christmas, and it's been working fine. (btw... my WalMart had 90 laptops and 32 desktops last year.)
  12. I was about 7.... and on a trip to visit a relative I noticed the Mouse Trap game Santa brought me still had the price tag on it. So I said to my mother... "Mom... I didn't know Santa shopped at KMart??"
  13. Wasn't too long ago they used to say that Japanese items were inferior. They don't say that anymore now. The Koreans are improving all the time, and I doubt the Chinese are sitting still either.
  14. I wouldn't know.... I don't assume things. I maintain specialized machinery for a living and deal with replacement parts that can come from a variety of suppliers. Many of those suppliers will often modify the specs for a part in order to make it cheaper to the customer. Sometimes the result is a part that's actually better than the OEM. Sometimes it's not. At the same time... a supplier will make one part that's absolutely terrible. But have other products that no other supplier can touch for quality and/or cost.
  15. He also based his comment upon a friend's fishing reel. Now how in the blazes does that equate cheaper computer parts? Especially in a name brand product such as HP? Used to be I'd expect that from an EMachines or Packard Bell, but even eMachines are more reliable today than they used to be.
  16. The SuperCenter in West Glendale, AZ had 90. My stepson was working lot security in Tempe AZ and said that one had 100 (and 100 desktops.)
  17. My WalMart in Glendale (AZ) wasn't too bad. There were 40 desktops and I got there at 4am with about 20 people surrounding the pallet on three sides. So I stood in the second wave on one side. It was right about 2 minutes before 5am when the people who came in behind tried to shove their way forward. I was able to block two old ladies off trying to climb up my back without crushing the woman in front of me who'd been there since midnight and cover one of the desktops on the floor. They only had 9 plasma screens and when enough people had lined up before I got there they brought them up preloaded on flat carts along with wall mounting kits. My wife was in the laptop line in back (90 laptops available, limit of one per person) and survived the cutters. Once the employee were told of the cutter they got an assistant manager to come in to pull some of the cutters out and prevent any more people from doing it. In fact a lot of the employees were going out of their way to help customers find any blitz items that ended up being left around the store. And other than one brief fight over a TV in electronics they did a hell of a job.
  18. From WalMart... One HP Laptop, one HP desktop, the cheepie laptop case, a portable DVD player (and case), GameBoy SP, four DVDs (one current, three $3.44s), two pairs of pants for daughter, misc small toys. From Lowes... Three Maglites, a laser leveling tool. Sears.... Too many tools to list, and a couple of pieces of jewelry Home Depot.... Portable finish nailing kit... another MagLite (they matched Lowes), another laser level.
  19. PX = Post Exchange A military version of WalMart
  20. I went into my WalMart at 4am with my wife 10 minutes behind me. I staked out the HP desktops ($398) which were palleted at the front entrance (they said 40.... but only 39 were actually there... hmmmmmm.), while the wife headed for the electronics area to get in the HP laptop line ($378) which was already stretching into the sporting good area (they had 90 available). Everything was great until two minutes before 5am when the store manager announced that the blitz was on, and I started feeling like I was about to get piled on from behind (by two women in their late fifties no less). Got to squeeze by the woman in front of me and covered the bottom one of the stack I was aiming for. Then told anyone that was trying to climb over me they were about to get dumped (I played defensive tackle in college). Meanwhile..... in the back of the store my wife started out about 55th in line... which soon became 80th in line (because of the line cutters). Fortunately some employees had come over with a ladder to get something off the top shelf and when they were informed of the cutters they got a hold of a store manager who stepped in with a couple of other employees and ran out anyone else who tried to cut in. She ended up scoring one of the last laptops My 9-year old daughter also survived the Game Boy line picking up my blue GBA SP. Other than that... the only ugly incident was a brief fight that broke out near the MP3 player line over a tv set , but it was taken care of quickly by employees and some customers. Missed our record of 45 minutes getting in and out (by only 4 minutes). We ended up scoring more than what we had planned to get (and spending a lot more). But it was very rewarding hunt. Heard from my stepson later who was working parking lot security at another WalMart they had two large fights, and caught over a dozen shoplifters.
  21. All the reason why I said to send your complaints to the other media outlets in the area. Forward his canned replies as well. But if you want you opinion to matter.... KEEP THE EMOTIONS OUT OF IT. Otherwise it'll be viewed as the comments of a raging lunatic. And ask the question if he claims all the other stores confirmed his position then why did he state in his story that he only checked three of the ads?? This guy obviously does not have a clue as to the power of the internet.
  22. If he's got agreements from the companies then email mail him back and tell him to post scans of them on the station's website and prove it. Otherwise he's just blowing a lot of air like his story was.
