Just tried my zip code and the locator came back with "There are no Circuit City Stores within a 100 mile radius of Phoenix, AZ." Looks like CC is completely leaving Phoenix Metro (4-5 stores think). But they are still keeping the two stores in Tuscon and one in Yuma...... for now.

Circuit City's stock is at 26 cents... does that mean good bf deals?

Sony PSP or Nintendo DS?
TheLegend replied to onecutemoocow's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Wife and daughter both have DS's and a ton of games. The carry bag is a good idea. Also there are storage boxes available which can hold three game cards each. -

There's a Fry's and Best Buy here in North Phoenix a block apart, right across from my work. Last year they made sure their respective BF lines went in opposite directions. Otherwise some confusion may have occurred.

Sony just introduced a new model of the PSP, so I don't think they're going to go away soon. The reason for lack of selection is more of the PSP using a propietary disc format that isn't used on any other device. So stores may be reluctant to carry a lot of inventory because of that. Particularly with movie titles.

You won't be disappointed getting the DS Lite now. FWIW.... in addition to the dual cameras and music capabilities, the new DSi also drops the GBA card slot in favor of an SD Ram slot (for the music). New DS games will still play on the older systems. BTW.... my 12 year old daughter also loves playing Guitar Hero on her DS.

Maybe next year Brad can pull a preemptive strike and get his attorneys to tell Ace's attorneys they can't leak their ad out until late September.

I posted in the technology discussion board a few days ago that Sony is looking to have the next generation of LCDs (240Hz) available this fall. Those sets will be pricey (est. $3600 for the 46").... but it could produce a drop in the prices for current higher end 120Hz sets and/or the standard (60Hz) models. No guarantees we'll see BF-style pricing, tho.

Buyer Beware - Best Buy Return Policy
TheLegend replied to BlackFriday2007's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
This is why many stores offer gift receipts. For people who are giving a gift to someone but don't want to give away any personal info (or how much they paid), they can give the gift receipt instead, which stores will honor in place of the original. -
Here's a link to a comparison chart for current PS3 models. PS3 hardware Note there is one model that has no PS2 compatability at all. The newest model uses software emulation and all future models will probably go this route to get the prices down. I'm a Nintendo nut myself (we own every piece of Marioware except the Virtual Boy), but if I were in the market for another system I'd probably lean to the PS3 because it has so much more potential. Update: After viewing a gaming website today, Sony is appearantly dropping PS2 software emulation in all future PS3 models. The latest 80GB model now ships without it and the new 160GB model coming in the fall won't have it either.

Brad... I would think that with the success WalMart had in getting their ads pulled last year, other companies will be more willing to follow the line this year. WalMart did have some backlash from what they did, but I think the consensus would be that their bad BF performance was due more to a mediocre product lineup.

Or they'll send John Madden to run you down with his bus....

Loves... Hope you will be able to get your situation taken care of. My family was the victum of a neighbor's son. He'd befriended my youngest stepson, but ended up stealing him (and us) blind as well. He's now spending possibly the rest of his life in prison for another crime, but he ended up costing his own family as well. They had to walk away from their home this past month after refinancing it to cover his attorney fees and couldn't afford the new payments. Hard to say how someone could've gotten to you're personal info. The kid you refer to may be just a coincidence, but I wouldn't rule it out at this point.

Having been an AOL member for nearly 20 years (before they were actually AOL), they have always had the policy of never asking you for any personal or account info..... ever. Whenever a company calls talks to my wife regarding a bill and offers to take a phone payment she refuses and tells then she will make payment at a store or call back a known legitimate number at a later time. Point is.... never reply directly to anyone who requests personal info over a phone, or online. While it won't guarantee total security, it will get you very close to it.

Wii question ... recommendations?
TheLegend replied to kim_r4's topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Wavebirds (Nintendo's wireless GC controllers) can still be found at WalMarts (platinum color only). They run about $35. You have to give up the rumble effects, but if that isn't a problem, you get a controller that gives you more freedom. I finished playing Zelda TP for the GC a few months ago. Great game on the GC, but I can see from it how certain things on the Wii version would be so much better. -
Cnet is not the authoritive review site like it used to be just a few years ago. I agree with what a couple of others have said in that you have to get out and do side by side comparisons in person. From my own experience, I've seen some of these off brand sets look far superior to certain models of the first line brands given the same screen size, and then vice versa.

Our WM has always kept the small electronic (including laptops) and camera BF items in the AV department. Larger electronics (desktops and TVs) usually ended up along the main midway aisle beginning near the front registers. Cameras would be kept behind the counter and you'd probably have to find out which line leads to it.

Um...... ask Anita Hill???

Biggest drawback with Vista is it's a memory hog. But that's been the case with every new OS generation Microsoft has introduced since Win 3.1. With every new release came a larger RAM requirement because of all the new "features" they crammed into them.

Last month the wife picked up a Toshiba with a Centrino Dual Core (not sure which model), 2048MB RAM, 200GB hard drive, wireless, 1.3MP web camera built into the lid, DVD/CD burner and Windows Vista Home Premium for about $750 at Best Buy. It originally went for over $900 but was being replaced by a newer model.

You guys call last year's WalMart ad an ad?? They had better non-ad items on BF. PS..... Brad.... my Coyotes avitar needs an update.

During BF '05 those poor grannies tried to stampede me.

I think you meant the Ikea store, Chief.
