  1. Was this just a weekly sale? I'm hoping tru or someone else will run some similar specials. I need to get two of them for dd 7 and ds 4. They are going to be so excited plus it will make the 8 hour trip to Il to visit family after christmas go faster for them.

  3. My sil and I have been going together for the last few years, since we are visiting for thanksgiving. We go back to her house unload all the stuff while my husband takes the kids to grandma's. Then he and grandma come down to look at all the stuff we got. Dh usually tells me what I missed or should have bought more of--so sometimes we go back out.

  4. Usually two trips--but that is usually because we get shopping, take everything home and then decide to go out again because we want to buy something else or get more of something etc. It's a fun day we try to make it last as long as possible.

  5. HI I'm Amy--I'm from northern Ohio. I'll be doing bf in Michigan though--dh's family lives up there so we always go up for thanksgiving. BF is my one day guaranteed out a year without the kids lol

I've lived in IL and MI also--I enjoy reading through the introductions and thinking "i know where that is"

I'm so excited this board is open!!

  6. sweat pants and a fleece jacket for me--not sure on the shirt yet maybe if I win a gottadeal shirt :) I will most likely be sporting the just crawled out of bed look. Last year I could barely sleep--I was up way before the alarm went off.

  7. I purchased a sandwich maker last year and we've only used it once. I really really thought we would use it all the time. i like how the grilled ham and cheese turn out in the pan better. Plus we have four kids and it takes too long to make them all in the sandwich maker, so it is sitting up in my cabinet.
  8. We've had good luck with the tv, dvd players, and surround sound that we have bought on various black fridays. We always figure it's worth a shot and we haven't been burned by any item yet.
  9. Lots of Dec. 13th b-days--my dad's is also that day!! I've got my four children to buy for, my dh, both sets of parents, and we'll draw names among my nieces and nephews (so another four gifts). I do all the Christmas shopping which I don't mind I really enjoy it--unfortunately some years my husband really has to get motivated to buy me something, other years he goes all out. Maybe some years I'm naughty:D
  10. I haven't been to an outlet mall in a couple of years on Black Friday, but I used to work at one. At the time many of the stores in the mall would have door busters also (from 6am-11am)--maybe a percentage off your entire purchase or a free item. From what I remember it doesn't compare to the doorbusters and sales that walmart, sears, jcpennys etc have but they do try. The store I worked at also had some specials for the day and weekend as well--can't remember the other places in the mall, one I was off work I was ready to go home. The mall was swamped though so there must have been some good deals.

Hope that helps a little bit.

  11. I've shopped in the past with my mom and sisters, and last year and this year I'll be shopping with my sister in laws. Only once have I went out by myself--I admit you can cover more ground alone, but it is imo more fun with others with you.

  12. I used to work in retail management for two different companies and it was definitely required that everyone worked all weekend. You could request a day off but realizing that you may or may not get it. It was fun though too--one company I worked for bought food for everyone for the weekend because they knew we would be to busy to go out and try to battle for food. Kindof an employee appreciation thing I guess. I've been on both sides of the counter on black friday and I think it's fun either way.

  13. A couple of yeas ago we took our mini van--we took out the seats we didn't need to give extra room. Last year we took my sister in law's envoy and folded down the seats we didn't use. This year however we are planning on taking our avalanche. The three of us can sit in the front and that leaves the whole rest of the truck. Both my sister in laws are big shoppers lol--okay maybe I am too. We're pretty excited--last year the envoy was so full we thought someone would have to be left behind:gd_steeri
