What were your Hits and Misses last Black Friday?
MICKEY3601 replied to thistledown814's topic in 2008
Hit: WII..I was at Target pretty far from the front of the line when an employee stated they had given out all the tickets for the WII's. Then someone in line gave 2 tickets back to her. I couldn't believe my luck when I got one of the tickets. I was not shopping for a WII yet I got one. It is the best game system especially the bowling!! Although I must admit the adults play it more then DD7! :) Miss: Toys...DD7 plays with none of her toys. So this year anything except toys! -
I have to work, as well, at 8am so I will be shopping before I have to go in. I refuse to miss BF shopping!!
-
I usually drag by best friend unless she is working on BF. If she doesn't go with me then I am on my own. Everyone in my family thinks I am crazy to BF shop so they won't go with me. I think they are crazy NOT to. I get a laugh every year when they last minute shop.
-
We are open for business. I have to request it off every year & normally do not get it off. This year is no exception. I refuse to miss shopping on BF so I will shop the early morning deals & then go to work.

No such luck in Arizona either. Everything except food is taxed!

What do you do to help you wake up early on BF? merged
MICKEY3601 replied to BoulderChick's topic in 2007
Lots of coffee!!! LOL I am so amped for BF that I really don't have a problem waking up. I almost have to force my self to sleep the night before so I get enough sleep to last me all day on BF -
Almost all of it. I love BF. It is so nice getting almost all of my Christmas shopping done in 1 day!
-
Well I DO sacrifice sleep. I would not be able to scarifice pay!!
-
Thankfully I live in Phoenix. It will be pretty chilly but nothing a jacket or seatshirt wont fix & a nice hot cup of coffee!! Of course, after the 1st store, the jacket gets left in the car!
-
I am floored. Do they NOT realize how much business they get from this??!!! I am really disappointed that they are going to this extreme.
-
I always shop for Christmas. If I happen to see a good deal on something for the house then I will get it but BF is my day to get as much Christmas shopping done as I can!!
-
My dd6 has been asking for the Amazing Pets Skate 'N Tricks Puppy. Anyone who's child has one that can let me know if it is worth it? Thanks.
-
Around $300-$500, but it really does depend on the ads.
-
Always with my Best Friend.

I am all about the stores. Online shopping is no fun to me. I have to wait to get what I buy online & I can't really check out what I am buying. At the store I get to take home the same day what I bought & don't have to pay any shipping fees! If I have a problem with an online item I have to ship it back & wait for a replacment. At the store I can just return it. It wouldn't be the same on BF if I shopped online.
-
Hide the presents then take a nap. Left overs for dinner & then more shopping!!
-
It was nice getting the freebies. I remember an Elmo cookie tin from Kmart 1 year. I have a couple of those snowglobes from JCPenneys. I got an ornament from Mervyns 1 year as well. Half the fun of BF back in the day was deciding which store had the best freebie!!
-
I have gone in to a couple of stores on Thanksgiving if there is something I want but I try to save my energy for BF!!!!!
-
For me it really does depend on the ads and what I need, but generally it is Wal-Mart.
-
Another idea is: pull names for the adults & then everyone buy for the kids.
-
I start early in the morning of BF when all the BF specials run. After the 5am-12pm specials are over then I continue shopping til I drop, or run out of money, which ever comes 1st!! I am a SHOP-A-HOLIC and not afraid to admit it!!!!
-
If a family member needs 1 thing & it isn't something that requires overnight camping out to get it, I don't mind picking it up for them. Of course it is 2nd priority to my needs!!
