  1. Unless you're made of money, I would get the "Big Girl" set now.

We have 1 of those wood sets... 2 slides, climbing rope, 3 swings etc....and my boys don't really use it that much. They would rather swim/play basketball/use the trampoline.

MOST swingsets seem to be unloved and unused, you may find some in the paper used...or even on freecycle or ebay.

  2. Sunrocket is an cheaper alternative to Vonage.

I have SR set to simultaneously ring my cell so I never miss a call and is much cheaper than Vonage . I got 2 years of unlimited phone service for $199.

Yes, you can get the triple play packages from Cable or DSL, but they will not be the cheapest way to go. TimeWarner usually has specials of $99/month for cable, internet & phone...but they will go up to about $150/month after the special is over.

  3. Everyone, stick with Verbatim blank dvd's...you can't go wrong :)

BTW, according to digitalfaq the Dynex are last known to be made by Ricoh, which means they could be considered 2nd class media, but until someone does test them, noone knows for sure.

You may get a great deal on some other dvd's, but one day when you really need the data you backed up, or want to watch that home made movie...and you pop it in your dvd player and nothing is there, how good of a deal will it be then?

  4. Don't do it.

    BUT...

I have received the rebates from Menards when I combined more than 1 rebate inside 1 envelope. I decided to try it one time on 3 rebates each worth $1....The reason I tried was whenever I got their rebate check(which is actually a merchandise credit check to be used on a future purchase) they send every rebate you sent in on 1 rebate check.

I do that every time now on their rebates, but that being said, I still would not risk it on some other company refusing to fulfill your rebate request.

  6. Love the DC07...works like it's supposed to...IT SUX! :)

We have a cat, but my wifes hair is much longer, and that does get wound around the brushes...but that will happen with any vaccuum. Takes 1 minute to clean it out every so often and it's like brand new again.

You don't need to spend full price on a Dyson...When Kohl's has the 30% off coupons is the time to buy one. We got our DC07 for under $280 tax included!

    My only complaint...no light.

  7. darn 2nd and 3rd class. So basically how would I figure out the quality before I buy?

Taiyo Yuden & Verbatim...buy those and be assured you have 1st class quality. All the rest you won't know until after you buy.

Once you buy the best, remember where you bought them and keep buying that brand.

Don't feel bad...I currently have only 2nd and 4th class media. The 4th class were free after rebate, so no great loss. I use them for putting tv shows from my DVR when the HD gets almost full.

  8. If and when anyone buys these, please check out the manufacturer of the discs.

This link will show you how to do that. It's a great site to bookmark, if you want to make sure what you put on the dvd will last! I checked my stockpile of blank discs I have, and none were better than second class media :(

It looks like you can't go wrong with the Verbatim brand media according to this site :)

  9. On March 25, 2005, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) ruled 3-2 against utilities commissions in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and Louisiana who sought to force BellSouth to unbundle their DSL service from their local phone service. Qwest Communications currently provides naked DSL service voluntarily, and Verizon Communications has announced plans to follow suit, and already provides it in some areas.

Sounds like you have to get cable unless your carrier will allow you to get naked DSL.

  10. I forgot to mention 1 bad part about Sunrocket, but this may just have to do with any call routed over the internet. Today I tried to call an 800 # and got a message that I could not call the number from my area. It was a call to a local service company, so they must restrict how far away they accept calls to their toll free number. Luckily they have a regular number (had to google for it) so I could call them.

Not on topic, but when I had a regular land line, and I would need to make a long distance call I used a calling card from SamsClub. My call would show up as coming from Colorado...even though I am in WI.

  11. How does SunRocket compare to Vonage?

The wife and I have been considering dropping our home phone.

    DROP that land line! :)

I have sunrocket...we got in on the 2 years for $199 deal over the summer. I have had 2 dropped calls in 6 months, but 1 of those was when I was talking to my Bro-in-law(they have internet phone through their cable company) so we don't know whose fault it was.

I have a 5 meg down/384k up line. I am sure the quality of any internet phone service...whether through the cable company, Vonage or Sunrocket..will totally depend on your upload line speed. I have seen mention of about 20k/s being necessary for quality calls. My quality is comparable to a land line on my end, but the other end compares to a cell phone call sometimes.

I like all the features you get for free, like 3 way calling, caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding etc.

They now have something called sim-ring. You can set it up to ring another # simultaniously when a call comes in...which is awesome if your expecting a call but have to run out for a minute. No need to hang around waiting for an important call.

Overall, I love the idea of unlimited phone service for under $17/month (mine is only $8.30/month ) I was happy to get rid of my Verizon land line that cost me $23/month for a dial tone...NO calls, NO extras...just for a dial tone! I had to pay extra for every call I made.

Vonage is only unlimited if you spend $25/month plus tax. I believe thay have a ~$10/month for a limited # of minutes. I paid $199...that was it for 2 years...no taxes, extras or anything else. I did receive notice that ther will be some kind of federal tax added to the bill, but only after my 2 year deal is up. I assume that extra tax would apply to new customers.
