  1. I got one Thanksgiving Day when the store was practically empty. They only had two left so I figured I better get one while it was in stock. It rung up at $197 but I went back the next day at 10am when all the BF madness had died down and they gave me a price adjustment since it was ringing up at $140 Friday.
  2. I can't believe they had a $299 laptop a couple weeks ago, but the best they could do for Black Friday was $349? Very dissapointed. :(

The one they had for $299 two weeks ago had a crappy processor and less memory. The $349 BF laptop is a much better deal.
  3. Both are pretty equal, just that one processor is an Intel dual core and the other's AMD's equivalent. The one in the package (dv4-1117nr) has might have a slight advantage with the Core2Duo chipset, Intel GMA 45000MHD graphics, and HDMI support.

Far as the included Epson Stylus NX400, you can read the multiple reviews about it. The major complaint about Epson is they use multiple color cartridges (about six with the all-in-ones) and if one runs out it won't print. Cartridges aren't cheap, either. Personally, I'd prefer having a choice and go with something Canon has to offer.

The Intel processor will run a little cooler also (if generated heat is an important factor for you).
  4. anyones office depots forming lines yet? lol may be a stupid question but figured i'd ask since i'm sure all best buys have some sort of line at this point

It's been my experience that people don't usually start lining up at OD until around 5am, and even then in rather small numbers compared to Best Buy.
  5. I tried getting it yesterday but they said they didn't even have them in stock yet. It showed as an in store only ad available now, not coming soon. I aslo tried getting the $479 Toshiba laptop that was showing as available now but there too no luck. At least I got to meet and tlk to themanager and get some info on how things are going to be done this year at their location. Also thanks to Big Slade posting the link showing that they do not have to be 18 to get a ticket I printed it out and will bring it if they try stopping my daughter from getting 1 since the HP laptop also states 1 per customer, not 1 per household like in the ad.

Oh they had them in stock! They were told to say that after corporate realized they wouldn't have any left for Friday if they admitted to customers that the BF doorbuster laptop was in stock.

  6. Which one is that??

Probably the $279 HP laptop that prematurely showed up on Bestbuy.com yesterday for a short while before Best Buy realized it and changed the price to $849.
  7. Yeah..for a Sempron, they need to knock another $100 off. But not gonna happen.:P

It might happen later on, closer to Christmas. Remember they just had a $299 laptop a couple of weeks ago, and $299 would be a reasonable price for this one too.
  8. Please don't equate IBM with Lenovo. When IBM produced ThinkPads (including the underlying engineering) ThinkPads were tops. You paid a premium, but you received a solid quality device. Unfortunately things have gone downhill once Lenovo took over.... not just the manufacturing but the design and engineering.

I have to disagree with your assessment. My Lenovo-built ThinkPad T-60 has the same "solid as a tank" feel as my earlier ThinkPads. The T-60's quality and performance has been top-notch and the keyboard is still the best of all my laptops. I have no qualms recommending Lenovo T-Series laptops to family, friends, or business associates. Perhaps is the IdeaPad models you've had problems with.
  9. I personally enjoy Lenovo laptops more, and agree on Sony being not so great. As for Toshiba, they're great but I just can't stand their keyboards.

I agree about the Lenovo laptops, especially the T series. Nothing beats an IBM/Lenovo keyboard!
  10. Also, there are some people who don't need a Core 2 Duo, like my grandmother. She just uses her computer to browse the Internet and send email. She really doesn't even use Word. That laptop would be great for her.

Very true, but if you could buy her a laptop with a better processor for the same price or less why wouldn't you?
  11. The laptop with a Sempron CPU and over $400.00?

Why not offer a laptop with a Pentium 2 CPU?

    Sorry, but this is silly.

Because there will always be shoppers who don't know the difference between all the different processors on the market and will buy the laptop based on price alone. The ones with the cheaper processors probably have a higher gross margin than the ones with Core2Duos, especially if they're selling for similar prices.
  12. That is a nice laptop! Trying to compare this one to the one on BF. I know the BF one is cheaper and has more memory. But this one seems to have a great video card and A+ speakers. Hmmmm...I can't really see the model number on the BF one, but I think is is kinda like this one L305D-S5895.

Should I wait or should I buy today????

Are you willing to camp out at Best Buy starting on Thanksgiving Day in order to get one the few laptops they'll have at $379? If not, then why wait?
  13. I was in the process of ordering the Nintendo DS bundle .. had everything picked and added it to my cart. It said: We're having temporary difficulties arriving at the destination you requested, but we'd like to offer steps to help you below.

Now when I click on it to try again it says "product not found". What is going on?

The DS bundles will be $139 at Circuit City on Black Friday, which is cheaper than the Walmart bundles.
