I bought one about 2 months ago and love it. We are an Apple household. The one remaining PC laptop in our house (which is newer than my MacBook but a piece of crap) has become our media server. It sits under a table next to the router, hooked up to a 2TB drive, and is left running with the screen off but with iTunes on. This way the Apple TV and any of the other Macs in the house can now access the media library through sharing at any time. I'm in the process of digitizing all of our DVD's to the hard drive, so we won't even have to use the DVD player unless absolutely necessary. I also joined Netflix, but I find we don't really use it. If you are really adventurous there are jailbreaks you can do, but I haven't felt the need. I'm hoping that they will have web browsing at some point. If so, then I will cancel cable. With being able to watch just about any TV show online now (albeit a few days after network airing) it seems silly to pay so much for Comcast. The only drawback I can think of, and I have run into this, is the commitment to Apple DRM's. Meaning if you have digital movies you purchased on Amazon, you can't watch them on Apple and vice versa. Thank goodness I didn't invest much in Amazon Unbox before going all Mac.
