Sorry, I just saw someone talking about Wal-Mart and their $10 toys in another thread. Hope I didn't mess up by talking about it here.

In the Business Section of my newspaper today was this headline: "Financial crisis moves from Walls St. to the Mall. As stores start receiving holiday items, many are scrambling to attract scared shoppers. Holiday items are flowing into stores--and they are expected to be marked down immediately" I could go on and on and quote the lengthy two column article but guess what? Which store is the only store they talked about in this article?? Which world's largest retailer did they say is opening it's Christmas shops a week earlier this year to lure shoppers? This same store is also cutting prices on 10 most popular toys to $10 each. If you'd like to read the article, I think you could probably find it by googling the words "Wal-Mart is also cutting prices on 10 popular toys to $10 each". When you google it, you can get a list of the ten toys. But, they don't want us to get an early look at their ad?

We give ours gift certificates to fast food places-last year it was McDonalds.

Ahhhhh Illinoismom they are ADORABLE! Our dog and 2 cats get their stockings filled with toys and treats and special dinners on Christmas.

I wanted to thank everyone for their help and advice. The Canon A560 that I ordered from Amazon came last night. It was shipped on the 13th and arrived on the 15th. Thanks for the advice! I've never made a calendar before, know absolutely NOTHING about making one and sure appreciate your help. Now that I've ordered my camera, I'll be waiting for the mail to come everyday until it gets here!

My son needs one too for a class he's taking in college, I'm looking on ebay.

We didn't use name tags. When my kids were little, I used specific wrapping paper for each kid. I used two patterns for each kid. We never put gifts under the tree until all the kids were asleep on Christmas eve. My kids are 28, 27, 22 and 21 and we still don't put gifts from Santa under the tree until the middle of the night. We use name tags now because with all the spouses, girlfriend, boyfriend, grandkids--my poor husband would never remember what pattern belonged to who without a cheat sheet. One year before we started using tags, my daughter actually ended up with my daugher-in-law's gift. (and she really loved the gift) I think that was the year we decided we better use tags the next year. LOL.
