  1. Happy New Year to everyone. Sorry I’m late. We had COVID go through the family.

I’d also like to thank Coastiwife for my SS gifts. They were all perfect. My granddaughter even cheered and said how perfect they were as we opened them. Thank you. We have read the book and put the puzzle together. I’ve ate the licorice and used the oven mitts! We just have to paint now :).

  2. Happy December!!! Getting ready to mail out my gifts for non-local family, last task left for the holiday other than baking with my boys. Pretty happy everything is ready to go.

Nice. I haven’t had a second to wrap anything yet.

Pretty much! My husband went to the PO yesterday because I told him there were 2 packages there. He said any idea what they are?!?!? I said ahhhh nope!

  3. They better, huh? Actually, these guys guarantee all work for life. A year after a past repair, I lost a clip holding a fender panel to the rest of the car. He noticed it this visit and said he'd repair under warranty.

That’s the kinda place I like!

Also, I like you, had been buying presents for awhile( just incase of no supply).

  4. I accidently broke into a business this morning.

I am having some work done on my car next week. The shop is five miles from my home. I figured I could catch some dry weather for my walk home if I got there right when they opened. I arrived at the shop just a little after 8:00, parked my car, and walked in the front door. While the lobby was lit, the office area was dark. I heard an alarm. I assumed the person opening was a little late. After waiting for someone for a couple minutes, I left the building and walked around to the service area. Looking in the window, it was completely empty and kind of dark. I returned to the office, left my keys at the desk with a note. I also called their number and left a voice mail explaining that I had walked into their unlocked office, left my keys, and left locking the door behind me (didn't want someone else to walk in, grab my keys, and steal my car, right?

As I was walking home, I heard sirens, so I returned to the scene of the crime. As I approached the police, I raised my hands over my head and confessed to setting off the alarm. They ran my license and sent me on my way.

Anyone have a more interesting Black Friday than me?

Thanks for the laugh! Hopefully, they do amazing work on your car.

  5. Sent my husband out for the paper and despite it saying it was $4.50 right on it (which he didn't realize) they charged him $7.99. He brought the paper home and it had Macy's, Home Depot, Penney's, Bloomingdales (which is stupid since there isn't one near here) Boscov's, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Shoe Carnival. No Walmart, Target, Best Buy, no craft stores. I miss paper ads!

I was gonna say my friend just told me she was gonna buy one yesterday and changed her mind when it was $8!!!

  6. Honestly, the people you should be mad at are the ones that tried to scam the system in the past. It sucks that a store is doing this to their customers, but it sounds like they were the victims first and are now trying to protect themselves from the abusers.

Before sites like this almost everyone waited until Thanksgiving to view the ads, honestly I doubt it costs them much in sales. They may not be anxious to sell their loss leaders this year because the volume of other sales won't make up for it, with anticipated volume from most of their customers being lower.

Yes I remember the good ol’ days of getting the paper and looking through every ad and then making a plan. However, my point was that sales where already happening. Holding out could be missing out if people didn’t know you’d have a better deal. Loyal customers will still go somewhere else for good deals. Hope you had a great BF

  7. I called my store and they said they are not releasing it until Friday. The guy said “people try to hide items and it messes with our inventory”. I asked how I am supposed to know if I want to be there? He said “sorry”. Wow. I am disappointed!!!

Wow. The lady in my store thought it would come in the thanksgiving paper with the other ads. But still. Whoever in their management thought of this save the ad till Thursday or Friday may have to rethink their thinking after Friday. I usually get to mine 4:30-5 am. I won’t do that if I don’t know what’s on sale. I’m not going to get the ad on my way in the door and spontaneously decide what to get, how many, and for who. And honestly I usually spend 600 - 800 there. Because I usually stock up on hair clippers, dog beds, sausage, ear buds, pots and pans and kitchen things, other special buy sauces, toys, etc. Besides has anybody seen the mess they have in there store by 3pm after the early bird rush? So if I have to go late. Then I know I won’t spend like I normally do.

  8. I went into my Menards this morning and asked if they had the ad paper. The girl said that the employees still haven’t seen it that they are in a sealed box. I said when will they give them out? I said people have to make plans other stores have already started their sales or at least published their ad. She said she will pass my concern on to the manager when he comes in. [emoji37]
