  1. I like Kohls for household stuff too, but our Kohls seems to take f-o-r-e-v-e-r for check out on BF. I remember one year my mom wanted this picture frame there that you open it up and it was like a hidden jewelry box kind of thing (hope that makes sense). Anyway, I went in and it took me a bit to find them, but I was ok with that because it was the only thing I needed from there. So 10 minutes to find the thing, then I head to the register and wait for over 30 minutes to check out! If it had been for me I am not sure I would have waited, but since it was a gift for my mom I had to slap on a smile and wait it out. So for me the Kohls deals are great, but I usually make my Kohls purchases on line so I don't have to stand IN line for so long!
  2. When I go out on BF I try to have fun with it. I usually wear my BF Gottadeal.com t-shirt, my headband with antlers, and I make sure I have a pocket full of mini candy canes to share with my fellow shoppers and the cashiers. Most of the time, folks are very nice. The only time I have ever personally had an issue was when there was a crowd surge behind me, and I was sent head first into a huge box. That wasn't any one persons fault, and I just laughed my way through it. I have seen a few really nasty interactions on BF, but they are not the norm. Interestingly enough, they were all at Walmart - including the jerk that knocked over a woman and (I'm pretty sure) broke her hip. That was several years ago, and now our town has two Walmarts, which seems to have helped with the congestion a little. And I agree with the folks that posted before me; line jumpers really honk me off.
  3. I have seen some fellow Hoosiers here - a few Fort Wayne, a couple of Indy, etc. I don't think I saw anybody else post from southern Indiana. I will be starting my day in Edinburgh, Indiana on Thanksgiving night, working my way into Columbus, and ultimately I will end up down in Clarksville.
  4. Good to know. I had never been in need of an appliance around Black Friday before, so I guess I never paid much attention.
  5. It's out now. I was just looking through it and comparing to current pricing on their website. Some of the big ticket items (the double oven convection range I have been looking at, for example) are actually selling right now for the price listed in the BF ad. In fact, if I bought that range today with my Sears card I could get 5% off the sale price plus free delivery plus earn points to use later. I am not sure if I am impressed so far.
  6. My best BF memory was the year that I got every single thing on my list, including a tv for my aunt and lots of Angel Tree gifts. That same year there was a lady that I work with who was at Target hoping to get a camera. She waited in line for a very long time, because she really wanted to get the camera for a gift for her daughter. They were handing them out one at a time and making people pay for them in electronics, and they ran out right before they got to her. She left. About 20 minutes later I was finishing up paying for my tv and they came out and said they found another box of cameras. I was able to buy one and take it to her that afternoon. She was thrilled. My worst BF experience was several years ago. Menards had these off-brand snuggies as a doorbuster. My aunt and my grandma really wanted them, so I went for them. I made my way up to the display (it was just a big skid-sized cardboard box in the middle of one of the back isles). Right when I got to the front, the crowd surged forward, and I was pushed head first into the box! On my way down I did grab an armful of snuggies. I figured I wasn't going to go through all that for nothing. A guy who worked there came up behind me and asked me if I was ok. I told him yes. He saw I had my arms full and asked if I would like him to pull me out, and I agreed. He grabbed me by the waist and tugged, and I came up with six blankets! I was soo bruised for days after that. Right after I left there, I went to Wal-Mart. I was at the very back of the store getting a fire pit bowl - or whatever they're called. I watched two people get into an actual fist fight over a card table and chair set. The one guy fell backwards into an old woman, and she fell down and they had to call they ambulance for her. Pretty sure she ended up with a broken hip.
  7. Yeah! Thanks for the shirt. The last time I won one was 2010, so I am excited to get this one!
  8. I do not like going BF shopping with other people. They just slow me down. I go solo Thursday morning, come home and do the turkey thing, then go back out Thursday evening after spending several hours with the family. I usually don't come back home again until after noon on Friday. By then I have already gotten everything I wanted, and bought Christmas for several angel tree kids in our area. A bunch of folks at work pitch in money, and they give it to me to spend on BF so we can get as much for the kids as possible. Now after all that is done, I do usually go back out for a few hours with my SIL on Friday afternoon. She is usually after clothing for the kids and other small stuff, and that stuff is usually still around in the afternoon in our area. She won't get up early to go, so she just takes what she can find later in the day :-) The pace is a whole lot different by that part of the day, so we can actually slow down and enjoy shopping together.
  9. I just stick to a very basic list of wallet, chapstick, hand warmers, and I always have a bunch of those little candy canes and some chocolates in my jacket pocket. I like to give them to cashiers and fellow shoppers to keep everyone in a good mood.
  10. I have one that I won several years ago. I keep it put up in a special place and I wear it every year on Black Friday. I know, I'm a dork. Maybe I should get a few more, then I could wear them more than just once a year. :-)
  11. Every year I say I am going to get on here earlier, and every year I wait until November. When will I learn?? Thanks for all you do, Brad. So excited for Black Friday! Even when I don't find anything I need to get for my family, I volunteer for a local angel tree group so we can shop and stretch donated funds a lot farther and make sure area kids have an awesome Christmas!
  12. The first few of things that come to my mind are: - something red/green referencing Black Friday as the start of the holiday season - I love turkey and stuffing, but what are really crave are doorbusters! - or a play on that -Where I work there are these t-shirts we had printed up that say "TRAINER - Because freakin' awesome is not an official job title". I am not sure how you could work that around for Black Friday shoppers, but I bet you could.
  13. I wore mine on Black Friday and got lots of comments. I did have a coat on over it while waiting in line. It was cold in Indiana, and even with my long sleeve shirt under it I still had to have a coat on 'til we got into the store. While I was standing in the check out line at Target I got lots of comments. The only problem I had was that the shirt I wore under it had a hood, and people kept asking me to move the hood so they could read the back . I didn't want to carry my purse with me, so I took credit card, ID, and cash in the little gottadeal.com Black Friday change purse I got with my shirt. The cashier at K-Mart said she could tell I was a serious shopper by the way I was all "geared up" with matching shirt and change purse for Black Friday. I told her it was thanks to gottadeal.com. Thanks Brad, you rock!
  14. Yeah! I never did win one last year, but I've managed to score one pretty early this year. Thanks Brad!
  15. 1. Two managers at the local Target intend to sit in lawn chairs just inside the barricade to get the best view of shoppers who attempt to jump the carts and land on their faces. 2. "Dude. I don't know why my wife complains about waiting in line on Black Friday. This is a whole lot more comfortable than my deer stand." 3. "Attention everyone: I wanted to let you know I just snagged the last laptop for myself. You can all return to your cars and head to the next store on your Black Friday list."
  16. Put me down for another vote for the Sony Cybershot line. I have one and love mine.
  17. There are several people where I work who took vacation Mon - Wed this week. Now I know where they went! LOL
  18. I REALLY like stuffing with Italian sausage, cranberries, and diced apples in it. Man, my mouth is watering!
  19. I agree. If someone near me needs to leave the line for a few minutes I have no problem with that. We are all standing there putting in our time together, right? I will not tolerate line jumpers:gdparanoid:, but if you need to step out and take a few puffs I will not be upset. Just don't get offended if I ask if I can Febreeze you when you come back, lol.
  20. Mine was a tri-fold also, no envelope (not a cardholder). But for those of you who didn't get one, if you want to shop online you could still use the promo code. On the back of the card it says "Offer valid Wed, Nov. 25 - Sat, Nov 28, 2009... (and toward the bottom it says) Enjoy your discount at Kohls.com with 15% off any purchase using promo code: SAVE15NOV."
  21. I personally would recommend the DS lite for that age. The DS lite plays the small DS cartridges and also has a slot on the bottom where you can insert Game Boy Advance cartridges. My children have found many titles in the GBA offerings that they enjoy. The GBA games only play on one screen (you can choose, top or bottom). You can buy GBA games at GameStop and some other retailers, and if you go to garage sales in the summer you could really find some deals. The GBA has pretty rugged game cartridges, and I have bought used ones many times with no problems. The DSi is a nice system too, but has some differences. There is a camera in the DSi (two actually), so you can take pictures. There is also some photo manipulation software so you can do fun things with the pictures. It offers a web browser, so if you have wireless internet at home you can use it to get on the web. I do not like to use the DSi to access the internet, due to the small screen and slow speed. We have one, but if I am getting on the internet, I use the desk top or laptop. There is a DSiWare feature, where you can use the wifi to connect to the DSiware site and download games (much like the Wii channel). You can do this by purchasing points cards at WM or other retailer OR you can purchase points right on the site with your credit card (which makes me a little nervous - I always buy the cards at WM). There are 40-50 titles available, but many of them are puzzle games, card games, etc. (not necessarily geared toward the younger set). Also, when they added these wifi features they took away the GBA cartridge slot, so you can't play GBA games on the DSi. One thing I will mention is that my son (10) is into Pokemon, and there are some things you can do on the DSi with the pokemon games (like trade characters from one cartridge to another I think) that you cannot do on the DS. That is the only reason my son will borrow my DSi from time to time. Usually he is content with his DS lite. So for 6 year olds I would definitely recommend the DS Lite (and screen savers and Nerf cases to protect them). Hope this helps.

  23. My family likes stuffing with sausage and a little apple in it. This is the recipe we use: 1 pound Bob Evans® Savory Sage or Original Recipe Sausage 1 large onion, diced 3 stalks celery, diced 1 large Granny Smith apple, peeled and diced 1 (14 ounce) package cubed stuffing (seasoned dried bread cubes like Pepperidge Farm) 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning 3 1/2 cups chicken broth 1/2 cup melted butter Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet over medium heat, crumble sausage. Add onion celery and apple and cook, stirring occasionally until sausage is brown. In a large bowl, place cubed stuffing. Add sausage mixture. Sprinkle with poultry seasoning. Pour broth and butter over the top and toss to combine. Grease bottom and sides of a 9x13 baking dish. Spoon mixture into baking dish; cover with foil. Bake for 45 minutes or until desired doneness.
  24. same here. I was excited until I discovered that too.
