  1. Mervyn's was great. I could get a lot of useful gifts for others as well as items for myself there.
  2. My iPhone died last year, so I've just been buying cheap phones. I'm on my second one now and it's not going so great. My friends warned me but I didn't listen. Well, I'm only out about 20 dollars on two phones. But if I could get an iPhone from Simple Mobile between 80 and 100 dollars, I might consider it. Still on the fence. Also if I find a good deal on a hardwood steam mop... 25 dollars would be awesome, but I know I'm dreaming the impossible dream there. But if the price is right on a good one, I'll consider. I'm renting in an older place right now with hardwood floors, so I feel like I'm forever having to keep up on cleaning.
  3. I'll go with October 15-Harbor Freight. Thanks for the contest. Good luck to all. Edited for formatting.

    Ulta

Well, they have put up a page about their Cyber Funday sale which is from November 15-17. They have some pretty good deals then. So, it's a start right?! Anyways, they don't have any deals listed other than the gift with purchase. But there is a list of some of the brands included. Here's a link in case anyone was to have a look see at it https://www.ulta.com/cyberfundays/

    Ulta

I am for sure. I was thinking as I was looking at the WalMart ad, no, I'm still not all set on ads yet cause Ulta hasn't came out yet.
  6. It's on page 39 in the very top left corner.
  7. The Kmart in the Penn Station area wasn't busy when I'd go there. Tourists checking the place out, of course. Some locals doing an essential run or what have you. The one at Astor Place used to do decent. I think because it was close to the 6 train so it was convenient for those of us who took that train to stop there and do some shopping before heading home. I know for me, my options closer to where I lived were mostly hole in the wall discount stores that had such small selections and weird hours. Now the Kmart in the Bronx was always busy when I would go there with my friend who lived a few blocks from it. That was so weird to me because when I'd come to visit my family in Michigan, we'd go to Kmart and it would be a ghost town. So being in a Kmart that had more than 2 checkout lanes open with waits was weird to me. It reminded me of how Kmart was growing up in the 80s. It is really something to see how times have changed. I worked my first job at Sears while in high school back in 1996 and my mom retired from Kmart after putting a lot of years with the company. How things have changed in deed.
  8. Thanks for sharing. I might have go get this as I had quite a few of those games about 20 years ago. I'm a little disappointed of the lack of Lara Croft as I do love my Tomb Raider. One of my first BF purchases was the original Playstation. I worked at Sears and we had a 20 percent off coupon plus our employee discount. 17 year old me thought I was pretty hot stuff bringing home a video game system the day after Thanksgiving. Haha! How the times have changed.

    ULTA BF Ad?

For anyone who didn't see what they wanted in the ad, you might find what you're looking for during the Ulta Cyber FunDays. It goes on this Friday and Saturday. They have some really good deals sometimes. They have a mini sneak peak up on their site now- http://www.ulta.com/cyberfundays/
  10. I know those areas very well. Let's see, I used to live in Clinton Twp, now I live in Fraser. I always manager to wind up at the Meijer there on Thanksgiving for some odd reason. I work in Macomb but right across the street is Shelby Twp. I remember doing BF years ago at Macomb Mall. Between Value City and Kohl's, that place was packed.
  11. I have been doing about 95% of my shopping online for the last two years. The rest I do at work (I'm management in a store that's open then) and sometimes KMart or Meijer on the way home after work. I don't buy toys or electronics anyhow. So, sitting at home in my pajamas and drinking vodka while getting the deals is fine with me. Now, when I was younger and had a significant other who wanted a big ticket gift, I was out there with the crowds. I think it's great that there's different ways to bargain shop.
  12. Online as well for just about all of them. The only thing I've had issue with finding online in years past are those 5 for 5 stocking stuffer items. But otherwise, have found everything else. In addition, Ulta does some great online only deals pretty much starting the week of Thanksgiving and running until the week before Christmas. Like last year, they had some great deals on brands like Urban Decay and Philosophy that were online only.
  13. It actually used to be Garden Ridge. Although, I think it's strictly home items now. I remember I used to love getting clothing and books for really cheap at Garden Ridge. http://athome.mediaroom.com/2014-06-17-Garden-Ridge-Invests-20-Million-To-Rebrand-Stores-To-At-Home
  14. Thanks for posting this. I like their selection of basic skirts. So, I will for sure check that out for the price.
  15. I've seen the Tea Cup piggies and a lot of other hot toys at Walgreen's. Don't know if that's just in Michigan. But if anyone's looking, they might want to try there.
  16. I found this website called Wishbook web. It's a trip. Someone took the time out to post old Christmas catalogs, starting from the 1930s. I thought some other members here might get a kick out of this site so I'm shaing. http://www.wishbookweb.com/
  17. I think that these sales will have the smaller, essential type items on sale. While the electronics, hot toys and other big ticket or hard to find items will be the BF focus. I don't work for Target, but I think that's how it will be all over the place. The last couple years I've gone out on BF, I've seen people buying the bigger stuff, but not the little fillers. I think stores are seeing this too. Obviously, they do sell the smaller items but not on BF. So why push them on that day?!
  18. We got a PS3 earlier this year. So, I will be on the lookout for some games and accessories for that. 360 stuff for my brother in law. So video game deals are where it's at for me. As selfish as it sounds, I'm also after good deals on clothes for me. I stopped taking the medication on was on for close to 10 years around last BF and I've lost a lot of weight in that time. I would like something that fits me again.
  19. I'll also add that Ikea is amazing. When we moved into our new place, we swore that we wouldn't be "those people who furnish their entire apartment with Ikea". So, we shopped all over to try and find things from other stores. Heck, we even looked at Big Lots (yeah, I know). In the end, we found that really we would be "those people" and that was okay. We found everything we needed at a much better quality for way less at Ikea. You really can't beat them.
  20. All the cute boots I want are already out of stock. BooHoo. A friend of mine can walk in any inch heels. I'm kinda envious.
  21. The local papers we sell at my work are the same way. The Detroit Free Press and Macomb Daily charge the Sunday rates for the T-Day paper. So, it'll be $1.50 tomorrow for each instead. Here I thought every place did this. Guess not.
  22. There used to be a mall in the area that has since gone under. They were the best place to go on BF. The info desk would give away coupons and free ornaments. Plus, they had stores like Mervyn's and Montgomery Ward which also had a lot of freebies and good deals. Not too many places like that anymore. I may try to get the snowglobe at Penney's. Haven't decided yet.
  23. I can't believe I'm saying this but I miss Value City. They had some really good deals there on BF.
  24. I work retail in a very diverse store. Everyone there uses the term "Black Friday" and noone gets all bent out of shape over it.
  25. So, I take it you spent the summer painting it hot pink with zebra stripes for this year, right?! Thanks for the funny story :)
