The same thing happened to my with DD10. I purchased the 7 and it's too big also but she said once she pulls the strap in tight then it fits better. I just purchased her another in a size 6 since they don't have 1/2 sizes. Maybe her feet might grow a little since summer is still a few months away.

Received my sandals yesterday and although they stated that they were wide the fit like the regular sizes, or maybe my son's feet were wider than I thought. :) They all loved their sandals though, DS3 wanted to wear his to school today in 30degree weather. Was at the store this morning to get games for the DS and they still had it for $39.99. Where is your store because that's a great price. I had to double check online and it's still online for $39.99 there also.

That's what happened with me. I waited until I got the free shipping code which I posted, before I ordered and when it was time for me to order my sizes they nwere sold out except in the wide sizes.
