  1. I haven't bought electronics or big ticket items before from Meijer.  Any suggestions of how early I need to show up to get the Wii U deal?

  2. Correct me, if I'm wrong, but didn't they have some online sales on Thanksgiving Day last year. Just wondering with the early openings for Brick and Mortar stores, if said stores will start online sales in conjunction with store openings. This is driving me crazy. Mined you I don't mind getting deals earlier, but it's a matter of not wanting to be out early for Brick and Mortar sales and miss online sale start times. No, I don't have a Smart phone. Plus, it will be difficult enough doing early Brick and mortar shopping with the masses and trying to shop on a Smart phone. Unless, you are waiting in checkout line or something. Thoughts!

I only get my electronics online and yes Best Buy usually starts their sale on Thanksgiving, some time between Midnight and 6 a.m. The year I got my laptop I was able to order the one I wanted from them around 3 p.m. take a nap and then head to the outlet stores. Last year when I got my GPS they were having site issues and I tried to get it at midnight but it was not updating. Went to bed and woke up to get it at 8 a.m.

  3. Yay! Thanks Brad!

Can someone give me the idiot's guide to the +up rewards thing... i want to make sure i am understanding it correctly. For example, if i buy a bunch of things with rewards in one transaction, and say get $10 in rewards, i can then make a seperate transaction right then and there and get $10 off that? Sorry if it's a dumb question but i have never used it before.

Yes, that is correct. There are like CVS Extracare bucks and are as good as cash excluding a few items (gift cards, alcohol, cigs etc they say on the bottom.)
  4. I have been doing the same thing the past few years...BUT....last year we ran into a problem. We took our receipts in to price adjust and they wouldn't do it (same store as years past) even with everything I knew in the past and told them, etc. They said they weren't doing them that day. Was I ever PO'd!! So, we ran around the store picked up everything we had bought that would get price adjusted and then just returned them with the old receipt. It was ridiculous and threw off our morning, but the amount of $$ I saved was worth it I suppose. We have a new target in our area this year, that is closer to home, and I guess depending on where we start this year, I will have to go in and speak to someone beforehand and get there name, etc. to bring along if I have problems.

I am going to do that on Monday too. Then I can avoid standing in any lines at all. Just hit up the drugstores, go to the smaller Sears 15 minutes before opening and get my electronics online like usual.
  5. I will start checking a few of the Amazon.com deals to see if they offer a better Blu-Ray player than other brick and mortar stores will be offering in house, then look for the best laptop deal we can find online, probably Best Buy Wednesday night, then hit Walgreens, Rite Aid and CVS Thanksgiving morning and possibly Meijer's depending on their ad. And if Target has something I want or need will go to Target around 10 p.m. and after that head to Sears, if they have one of the appliances I need.
  6. THANKS CVS....now I have to boycott you......JK but I'm sure someone will pipe up soon :P

NO we cannot send you the ad, try googling as Brad mentioned previously.

It is already all over the internet on coupon matching websites where people match up things weekly. One website already gets the ads 3 to 4 weeks early and then does the match-ups so yes google can find you all kinds of stuff.

My shopping plan is already finished for them!

  7. It's t-shirt time! This one will be the easiest one yet.

Simply reply to this thread with your favorite thing about about Black Friday.

For you forum lurkers, this is a great chance to make your first post. Register for a free account if you don't have one and post away (registering will also get rid of those annoying ads).

The contest will run until 8pm ET on Thursday. At that point I'll randomly choose 5 winners who will receive Black Friday t-shirts.

If we can get at least 200 people to reply to the thread, I'll double the number of prizes to 10 t-shirts!, so send this page to your friends/family, post it on Facebook, etc...

The planning and the felling of conquest when I count up my deals.

  8. So in my mind, I see a line being forced around the building with line divider barrier thingys (think the ropes from Disney) and I would barricade the other entry doors, and stick security in front of them, so that no one can enter. Another two or three security people counting people to let them in and then shutting the door.

They do this at the Coach outlets!

Inside the store, just let the free for all commence, I guess. At least you'll have a 30 second head start?

This is exactly what my Target did plus the maps that were available on their website. It was much better than awful Wal-Mart.

  9. What stores and malls will be opening at midnight? and do you like midnight openings or not?

No and No. I don't have kids and I don't celebrate Christmas so I am only shopping for myself. Wal-Mart last year was an awful disaster first and last time ever going. Didn't get any of the $3 items nor the crockpot I wanted and the discounted PJs we bought was not worth the two hours it took to get out the store.

I will be in line at Target a couple hours before they open and doing most else of my shopping online.

  10. I have been doing the black friday thing for about 7 years now. I always hit Walmart first because Walmart usually has good deals and is open before everyone else at 5am. Also being that I live in a relatively small town (only one Walmart) I usually get a fair share of stuff. Get up around 4am, drive down to Walmart, get in line for my item or just hunting some small deals. Last year, they changed it to Shop While You Wait, here's their reasoning; Allowing customers the ability to get some items and then go and wait for the big ticket items that come along at 5am. Sound thinking but here's the problem; Usually stores don't get a lot of shipments, so everyone has piled up everything and then those who come closets to 5, gets hardly anything, instead everyone gets a fair chance. It's basically first come first served, which is ok if you have alot of shipment. Thank God, I managed to get a few things plus my big tickets. I was so thankful, that I just went straight home and didn't bother with the other stores. Do you like this or do you wish that it would just go away like a bad dream

Went to Wal-Mart for the first time last year and will never go again. Scooped out at 9 p.m. to get a layout and came back at 11:30 p.m. and everyone had everything in their cars. Better $3 deals and a much easier time at Target which we went to after standing in line for 2 hours at Wal-Mart to get half of what we wanted non of which was big ticket items. Not worth it and never going again.

  11. I always always shop online for things others would be fighting for. I live in MI and cannot get in line for 3 days at Best Buy just for a laptop or GPS. I've gotten great deals on both by getting them online although it can be frustrating. I've gotten 2 hours of sleep before doing it but I always get what I want. When it comes to electronics I always get it online, household goods, clothes anything I won't have much competition for I get it in the store.
  12. When it's really cold - and we've had a few times standing in line below zero - almost everyone in line that is with a buddy does the 15 min swaps to get warmed up. Both people are there, just one in line at a time to get warmed up in a car. I had one particularly cold night that the people in front of me invited me to do some warm up time with them in their car. must just be a midwestern thing. The attitude is that we are all waiting, but due to weather, it just doesn't make sense to have each person stand in the cold the entire time. No one minds b/c if you are standing in line for any length of time, it's readily apparent what is going on. Of course, there are also those in line who are keeping warm with a flask, but that is part of the fun.

Definitely a midwest thang and definitely how we all do it!

  13. I went to CVS with my wife earlier today.

Spent $72.21 and got $59.78 in ECB. Not a bad haul...

You are my hero! I haven't been working the pharmacy deals in a while so didn't have that many starting out. Started with just $11 but now I'm worked up to $22 and going back for the mini camcorder.

  14. I would say Walmart PERIOD was insane. We were mainly after clothing and it was crazy as all get out! I seriously almost said "This isn't worth it." I don't know that I would do this again. I have BF shopped for years less the last 2 mainly because of financial situations. Anyhow this was the craziest that I have seen it and I have done this in at least 4 differant cities. Just not sure it was worth it. Will definately think twice before doing it again.

Ditto! First and last time going to Wal-Mart ever. Not worth it.
