  1. A friend of mine in another state said she bought hoodies with earbuds in the drawstrings at Kmart. I have been through the clunky Kmart/Sears combined website and have not seen ANY mention of these. Does anyone else know of these and where I could find them? It is a 60+ mile drive to the nearest Kmart, so if I can find them online it would be great. Thanks!

    BF Eyeglasses

Definitely read the glassyeyes blog. It is well worth the read. Stores will measure PD for free but lenscrafters is getting VERY snotty about it. I usually go in and ask for just that. Only one employee flat out refused to do it and his manager did it. I have a very high power lens and with the astigmatism it is tricky. I have had the best luck from zennioptical. I have used 39dollarglasses.com and eyebuydirect.com and they did not hold up as well. The only "problem" I have had is that I paid extra from eyebuydirect for photochromic lenses (get darker in the sun) and they don't change much. Certainly not as much as the brand name Transitions lenses do when you get them from the optometrist. My glasses are now bifocal. I am waiting for them from zenni now. At LC they would have been almost $1000 for ONE PAIR with frames under $150 (hard to find at our LC). At the less expensive eye place they would have been $330. My dh has been in bifocals for 5 years now and his were $350 for 2 pairs. Over the phone they told me $178 for 2 pair no line bifocals so I refused to order them. Took my PD and ran! I got 2 pair from zenni for $121. But that includes the high power and one pair has sunglasses that attach magnetically.
  3. My 9yo loved the eyeclops last year, and loves this years' version even more. He and dh keep fighting over who gets to play with it next, LOL! He got the Strux Robotrixx Trex and that is AMAZING! He also likes Madagascar 2 for the ds. My 13yodd and he love Prince Caspian movie and dd loves the Tinkerbell movie. She also loved the clothes she got (my little girl is growing up!). Oh, my son LOVES the Spyology book and a smaller version of Wizardology. And nerf shooters are always fun. And nobody complained about my new Amy Grand Christmas CD! Blokus 3D was also a hit.
  4. Amazon has the Eyeclops Bionicam reduced to just $17.99 today!! We got it with 1 day shipping for an extra $3.99!! That means that our total shipping was the $3.99.http://www.amazon.com/Eyeclops-61081-EyeClops-BioniCam/dp/B00153C5KY/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1229973338&sr=8-3 This is NOT the Eyeclops that has to be hooked to the TV. This one has its own lcd viewer as well as a USB flash key so you can upload to the computer! We totally LOVED the Eyeclops, and can't wait utnil this one gets here! I recommend it for ANYONE who is curious. It was intended for our 9yo, but every one of us uses it! And it is AWESOME for getting out splinters, LOL!! Susie
  5. I LOVE to make bourbon balls, but can't remember the recipe - it was a mix of powdered sugar, real butter and bourbon, then dipped into chocolate. Yum.
  6. kirijoan's peanut butter fudge recipe is just like Alton Brown's from the TV show Good Eats. It is divine. I like to melt the white chocolate chips and stir in crunched up candy canes, then put dollops onto pretzels or dip pretzel sticks in. This is a bigtime family favorite. I also like to dip marshmallows in chocolate and then drizzle the colored Wilton Candy melts over them - they just look pretty. My exSIL uses peanuts and stirs them into the chocolate almond bark and makes them into patties. We have done ALL sorts of candies, it is a LOT of fun. But for those watching your weight who still want to indulge, keep a damp rag to wipe fingers on, you can get a ton of calories just by licking your fingers, and then you don't get to enjoy the finished product. I am going to make fudge sauce and caramel sauce to send home with my son's teacher for the Christmas present. If you have a kid with gluten allergies, you can put gingerbread spices into the marshmallow stuff for rice crispie cookies and then cut them into gingerbread men.
  7. I had similar experiences the last 3 times I ordered from Amazon. I will not order from them in the near future. Dh can if he wants, but I won't. It was such a PITA when I ordered the last 3 times. the orders didn't go through correctly b/c they had a "glitch" according to the representative. And I could hardly understand the reps I talked to. The accents made it totally impossible. Outsourcing your customer service may save some $$ up front, but it is costing you MY BUSINESS. If I can't understand the reps - I iwll buy from someone else!
  8. I hope we get more of these specials in the next week or so. I need a new computer for the kids' schoolwork. Our desktop is just to old to keep up. That and my dh's stupid games have slowed it down tremendously. No $$$ to pay until the tax refund gets here next week. Oh Well. Susie
  9. none near me. no book fairs, warehouse sales, or book fair workshops. absolutely zip.
  10. The biggest way to make a restaurant bill outrageous is to order drinks. Coffee costs a restaurant about 50 cents per pot, maybe 60 now with the price increases lately. Usually restaurants try for a food cost of 35% or less (per my experience and my classes on food service cost control). Drinks, esp soda tea and coffee are usually at most a food cost of 10%. You got it, less than 10% of that $1.50 for tea is the cost of the tea. The 10% includes drinks like juice and milk, which have a MUCH higher cost - very close to the 35% the restaurants try for with the other food items. My kids drink water unless it is a special occasion. I tend to, dh hates to. He insists on tea. That gives us $2 for drinks instead of $10 or more. It adds up.
  11. Thanks again to ashemgra for this post. I got a set of adorable Luck Of the Irish salt and pepper shakers AND the covered dragonfly vegetable tureen for under $20, shipped. They came yesterday and we are SO tickled with them. The tureen will be for next Christmas and the S&P shakers will be for my MIL and FIL for St. Pat's Day.
  12. I just saw that they still have Butterscotch for $199 at JcPenneys. Maybe another discount will be coming since it has been on sale so long?? I don't know. Here is the link:http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/ProductList.aspx?deptid=2652&catid=35730&pcatid=35726&shopby=0&cattyp=DEP&refpage=ProductList&dep=Online+Outlet+Store&cat=let%27s+pretend&pcat=toys&ttyp=&cmCatLevel=4&RefPageName=CategoryAll%252Easpx&RefCatID=35726&RefDeptID=2652&CmCatId=2652|35726|35732 Good hunting to all you who need this!

  15. I have one of the Cuisinart ICE-20 1-1/2-Quart Automatic Ice Cream, Frozen Yogurt, and Sorbet Maker, White only mine is RED. Got it several years ago and use it like CRAZY!! All kinds of healthy (and not healthy) creations. Kids can use it, cleans easily, they can do their own Mix Ins or whatever. I strongly recommend finding one of theBen and Jerry's Ice Cream REcipe Books. They really DO give you their recipes. Sorry for typos, having finger probs today. Anyway, well worth the price.
