  1. Gah, I thought you had OfficeMax already, but for some reason I added it to that list. Glad to hear you're not posting Big Lots (no big loss anyways, right?). Thanks for the Bass Pro Shops ad.
  2. Sports Authority, and then hotfooting it over to Home Depot.
  3. Bass Pro Shops Big Lots CompUSA/Tiger Direct GameStop/EB Games IKEA NewEgg KB Toys Menard's OfficeMax Old Navy Staples Toys R Us Tractor Supply Company Wal-Mart
  4. The fine print says "One bonus buck card per customer, per purchase." So no.
  5. Wal-Mart still doesn't get this whole "credit" crisis, huh? Well, maybe the Kmart/Sears layaway will be wildly successful and show up Mall-Mart this year.
  6. Don't worry; where I shopped last year, everyone and their second cousin twice removed was at the Target next door while me and about 10 other people had our choice of anything and everything in Home Depot. YMMV, of course. Last year, they had a whole pallet of the Ryobi combo kits and half-pallets of most of the other doorbusters. Plenty to go around, though I'd still get there early.
  7. It looks just like last year's ad! Not that I'm complaining, mind you. This was worth the wait. I got the 4-piece Ryobi kit last year; (it had a radio instead of the minivac), and I love it. And they're offering a free One+ tool with it this year - nice! Looks like they've updated the DeWalt drilling set I got last year, too.
  8. Because there will always be shoppers who don't know the difference between all the different processors on the market and will buy the laptop based on price alone. The ones with the cheaper processors probably have a higher gross margin than the ones with Core2Duos, especially if they're selling for similar prices. Also, there are some people who don't need a Core 2 Duo, like my grandmother. She just uses her computer to browse the Internet and send email. She really doesn't even use Word. That laptop would be great for her.
  9. Anyone else notice that there are several items on the Shop Local ad that aren't on the list on this site? Three that jump out at me from the first two pages alone are the $1.49 poinsettias, the BOGO $5.64 12-gallon storage totes, and the $9.98 Task Force tool sets.
  10. How underwhelming. Sports Authority beats them on nearly every deal. Maybe their 2-day sale ads will be better. Thanks for postin' it, though!
  11. I believe Kmart's policy does as well. I'm surprised Sears took this long to implement a layaway policy, but I'm not surprised considering that they're owned by the same company as Kmart.
  12. Argh! I wish I had room for a heavy bag in my apartment; that's a great price! This is the first ad I've seen that I've been excited about. Some of these doorbusters are fantastic, though I don't need them. I'll probably go and get in line for the giftcard, and get some of the non-doorbusters. Great prices on Champion and Adidas.
  13. Pretty unspectacular. The laptops are decent enough, but the rest of the ad is kinda meh. On the other hand, I didn't see a single item listed with rebates; they're all with "savings".
  14. I know, right? Fire up the credit card!
  15. My parents have changed their plans; they're now going to visit my mom's family in Acworth, GA for Thanksgiving, which means I am also visiting the family. So I'll be doing Black Friday shopping in Acworth and Kennesaw instead of Jacksonville. And, of course, Circuit City (my usual number one stop) is liquidating in Georgia! Argh! Maybe not everything will be cleaned out of the Columbia stores when I get back here on Friday afternoon. 'Tis my only hope in that department.
  16. Dumb question - Easy Rebate is Staples' version of an instant rebate, right?
  17. K-Mart was saved, yes. CompUSA was saved, yes. But Circuit City has already had at least one potential investor (Blockbuster, via Carl Icahn) look at the books and withdraw their bid. Also, the current speculation is that their current management has run the company into the ground. If Circuit City is saved, it will be at the eleventh hour, at a very cheap price, and will probably be only in one or two regions. There's still going to be massive layoffs and store closings, just like CompUSA. I really hope that I'm wrong, and that CC does survive, but I think they're done. And with this economy, they won't be the last. Here's hoping that their employees find new jobs quickly. Best Buy will provide factory warranty service on models purchased from CC that BB also carries. (That flyer is on their Atlanta, GA area location pages; I assume it's on the Phoenix and Kansas City pages as well.)
  18. Am I the only one who thinks that the selected markets are rather random? Atlanta, Kansas City, Phoenix...there's no major distribution center that could possibly serve all of the markets they're pulling out of. It seems more like CC is pulling out of markets that they're being destroyed in rather than refocusing on a specific region. For example, the Columbia, SC Circuit City stores are far superior to the Best Buys in pretty much every way. But if this was a geographical shutdown, they should be pulling out of the South Carolina market as well as the Atlanta market. It feels like even in liquidation CC's management doesn't know what the heck they're doing.
  19. (Sorry in advance about the double post.) One of my friends in California just got told that his store is being closed, along with two others in his area, and a total of 155 nationally. They will be closing as soon as their merchandise is liquidated or by December 31st (whichever is sooner), and they will not be honoring Black Friday deals.
  20. I have to say, between this and keeping layaway around, Kmart might actually clean up this year. Their advertising gurus should be congratulated.
  21. At least CompUSA was saved at the 11th hour, and is slowly coming back. TigerDirect had BF sales last year, so CompUSA will probably have similar deals in-store. But it's still not the same as having CC around. Best Buy will pretty much own the market if CC fails.
  22. I'm liking the price on those potted trees, but not much else. Still, $20 for 2 is worth a quick janut to Walgreens.

    Home Depot

Went to Home Depot last year. Dashed over there right after Best Buy, and ended up being second in line. There ended up being only about 10 of us waiting before 6am, compared to the 200 or so in line at the Target next door. Had some nice conversations with both the customers and employees, and quickly got everything I wanted. I'm definitely going back this year.
