  2. Thanks Brad!!! I saw this post AFTER I checked for new scans, so I must have been on the page before it was actually up! Man, was hoping that this year I could avoid TRU...but DD4 has been asking for a train all year (really, she asked Santa last year on Christmas Eve and it was so out of the blue...no idea where the idea came to her from) and unfortunately I don't think it's a passing wish. At least DS1 will get to enjoy it in a few years too right? But, they have the Fisher Price Space Saver High Chair on sale and we need to get one that we can travel with that has a 5-point harness.
  3. I usually go out for the doorbusters at 2 or 3 (we have a 24hour walmart that I usually hit first) and the hubby usually has to be at work by 10. Last year, I headed out at 4 (didn't get home from work til 2) and then DH met me near his work and dropped off DD3 and donuts. By this time, I was done getting stuff for her and we were working on shopping for the rest of the family. Afterwards we had lunch and then headed home. Of course, I was 8 months pregnant and people seemed to just get out of my way LOL And, the area that I live in has more senior citizens who aren't out shopping on BF. Of course, this year I won't have to take DD4 (can only get away with telling her things are for her friends for so long LOL) but I may have to take DS because he'll be 11 months and he doesn't like not being with mommy. If I can get away with it, I'll leave both with daddy and have him drop them off at the sitters if she's not out shopping (or with nana and papa if they don't have plans) Two years ago I had to open the Santa set at a local mall on BF, but was fortunate the mall didn't want us to open before 11am (they had to clear it with my supervisor because the company wanted me to open at 6 am even though NOBODY was going to be out to see Santa that early) I had an hour and a half drive to the mall, managed to hit Toys R Us on the way there, then Old Navy and a few other stores at the mall. Fortunately, we don't go for big ticket items any more.
  4. I went last year at about 36 weeks. I had no problems, but I wasn't going for any big ticket items and didn't wait in line anywhere before they opened. Like others said, just bring water to drink and a few snacks.
  5. We make truffles every year for our family and one of our favorite recipes is the Oreo truffles around posted on page one. Another favorite is Caramel Truffles Ingredients 26 caramels 1 cup milk chocolate chips 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream 1 1/3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 tablespoon shortening Directions 1. Line an 8 inch square dish with plastic wrap and set aside. 2. In a microwave safe bowl, combine the caramels, milk chocolate chips and cream. 3. Microwave, uncovered, on high for 1 minute; stir. 4. Microwave 1 minute longer, stirring every 15 seconds or until caramels are melted and mixture is smooth. 5. Spread into prepared dish; refrigerate 1 hour or until firm. 6. Using plastic wrap, lift candy out of pan. 7. Cut into 30 pieces, rolling each piece into a 1 inch ball. 8. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour or until firm. 9. In microwave safe bowl, melt semisweet chips and shortening; stir until smooth. 10. Dip caramels in chocolate and place on waxed paper-lined baking sheets. 11. Refrigerate until firm. For me, instead of step 9 (melting the chocolate chips and shortening) I use white almond bark or chocolate almond bark for all my truffles. And, I even have a wilton candy melter that I use since I make so many. We usually do 5 or 6 different kind of truffles each year and I end up making about 5 batches of each to ship to family and friends. I personally love the caramel ones best, probably because by the time I get to the finished product I've eaten so many unfinished that I can't stand to try another one and the caramel ones are the only ones I've actually eaten when finished. Frequently, they disappear from my fridge before I can get to dip them (since i make so many at a time, I keep them in the freezer or fridge until I can dip them, and then again until I can ship them) But when they are room temperature they are oh so yummy and addicting!
