  1. I saw on Walmart Facebook page that they will have layaway beginning August 28th - December 14 and there is a new minimum of $10 instead of $15.  Eligible items include Electronics, Auto Electronics, Large Furniture, Infant Toys, Toys, Select Sporting Goods, Small Appliances, & Jewelry.

  2. I "could" be just about done.  However, I "know" me and I will shop right up until the holiday.  So other than 2 things (a Keurig and an Amazon gift card), everything else is just bonus gifts at this point.

You sound like me, every time I cross something off the list, I add something to the list.

  3. When I got it Target had a Cartwheel coupon for 20% off and a $5 Target coupon.  Those two are separate and can be stacked.  That along with a price match from Amazon and 5% redcard discount got it down to the $8 price.  If you have never used the Cartwheel app it is pretty cool you clip the coupons that you want and they will scan it at checkout.  So nothing to print.  Also Target has mobile apps.  On top of that always check to see if toy manufacturers have any coupons out.  You can really get these toy prices down by doing that and price match always if you can.  I got the Imaginext Rescue City for $17.99 and the Imaginext Batcave for $14.99 by doing so.

  4. I've gotten most of my shopping done for the kids, waiting on some good deals for 3ds games.  My oldest wants clothes, shoes, and accs. mostly so I still have that.  Trying to get the kids shopping done before I do the grownup shopping.  Then I don't really obsess so much on bargain shopping, at least not the way I do with the kids toys.

  5. Does she like cooking?  I got my daughter the cake pop maker from Kohls which also is a donut and cupcake maker.  I don't know about your daughter but mine goes threw headphones quickly so that is always a Christmas present.  This year I was thinking about wireless headphones because her cord is always tangled and it gets on my nerves, apparently it doesn't bother her though.  If there's anywhere that she has been bugging you to go, setting that up for her would be great also.  It seems that everyone's comments about experience gifts would be great, if she already has everything she would probably love that more.

  6. It does bring free software, but when most of it is for games/other content that my kid doesn't want then I can't really do much with it.

As for the charging, yes I tried charging it on my laptop and it didn't work. Maybe I have a defective unit, between that and the SD card issues.

Yes, a closed system is great for a little one, but when I have to side load an app store to get something as simple as Angry Birds Star Wars.....We have a Note 2 7"as well, plus many other Android devices, and there's usually a lag between something available on Google Play getting on Amazon's app store. Lags are not good when the 4 y.o. sees his sister playing a game he wants.

Anyway, I hear that they're now doing Disney & Nick versions so maybe the content will improve.

It would be interesting to see about that "kids Samsung note" that was mentioned earlier :)

You don't have a defective unit, I have 3 of them for my kids and the usb charging on computer doesn't work.  You have to plug into an outlet.

  7. I got a little more shopping done today, got the nerf rebelle heartbreaker bow for a little over $8. Its $15.99 at the store.  I used the new Target cartwheel coupon app which brought it to $13.59 (15% off app coupon), then the $5 off coupon http://coupons.target.com/toys-coupons?page=2 and then my redcard debit card.  Also I got Imaginext rescue city center which was $44.99, and they have two coupons for that one is $10 Target web coupon http://coupons.target.com/toys-coupons and $5 manufacturer coupon. (coupons.com) made it $29.99 plus the 5% savings from redcard.  Let the deals begin!!!

  8. You have to watch TRU's so called sales because there prices are so high that it ends up not really being a deal.  Best to price match and then see if you can get offer, from what I read they will price match the one you buy but for the second one that is 40% off they take that amount off first and if the ad is lower then they will price match the second one for the ad price.  At least that has been my experience.  I think that Target had a buy two get one free sale before, that seems like a great deal if you are in the market for a lot of games.

  9. I have not started yet, waiting on some deals on the 3ds xl and aside from that, no one seems to know what in the world they want for Christmas.  When I ask them, they make me feel like "Mom its only September, I have plenty of time to decide."  I am so not a last minute shopper, but I don't want to get them toys that they're not going to play with.  I am finally learning if they don't bug me to death about, they don't really want it and its just going to collect dust in their room.

  10. I vote for the Samsung Galaxy 2 tablet, I have one for my teenager, husband, and myself and I love it.  Also you can increase the storage with a microSD card.  They should go on sale for Christmas for a really good price, since the 3 is out.  And yes, definitely stay away from the off brands, I got an off brand before and that thing ran so slow, I put it up in a drawer and went back to my laptop.

  11. It has all the capabilities of a regular tablet, except the google play store which you can get around by downloading 1mobile market and getting the apps that way.  It is very kid friendly, meaning it can take a lot of drops and you can put parental controls on it.  If you do buy it make sure you don't let them play it while charging because the charger tip breaks easily and the port that you use to plug in the charger, can also become unstable where you won't be able to charge it.  Nabi has very good customer service (at least that is my experience) with replacing things when they get broken.  I have 3 Nabis at home that I brought last year so I speak from experience.  I got one on Black Friday they were $129 at Best Buy.  Hope this helps.

  12. I am really looking forward to some deals on the 3ds xl's my kids (7,6) are big Mario fans, so they have a lot of games for that.  I'm also looking at the 2ds for my 4 year old, so that he can play the same things that they are playing, without the 3d.  My 14yo wants clothes, perfume, and a Samsung galaxy note.  Hopefully the price will go down on all of these and I can score some great deals.

  13. I bought 3 last year for my kids, they are really good tablets but like the other poster said they have trouble with their chargers, or better should I say the place where you plug in the charger also.  So all of the tablets did end up being replaced, but Nabi support is real good with that, if something is wrong, they will honor their warranties.  So if you do get them make sure that you are the one charging it, because the plug is very flimsy and can break very easily, also the place where you stick the plug in can loosen.  But Nabi will send you another charger free of charge if the one that you have breaks.  All in all I still recommend (highly) there tablet there is just so much that you can do with it.

  14. I can't be the ONLY person on the planet who loves JCP... can I? :g_think:

Your not the only person I'm looking forward to boots and coats, yeah!!!!!!

  15. That seems like the same thing TRU does, it's great that its b1g1 free or 50% off, but it defeats the purpose when the sales price is more than the other stores. I have been waiting for deals on talon castle also, both of my boys want it and the accessories. The accessories seem to go on sale but not the actual castle. I did find the Imaginext Dragon World Fortress for $29.98 at TRU store the other day. I was under the impression that it was no longer available.
