  1. Sears (and kmart) points program seem to actually be worthwhile- I purchased a new laptop last week from Sears and got almost $50 in points back- used those in store to get my husband tools and shirt for my son, paid only $4 at checkout.  It looks like a few items in their ad come with bonus points for Black Friday =)

  2. my wife works at kohls.  they start expanded hours starting nov 1 i believe stores on weekdays will be open til 11 and on weekends til midnight.  Mid november they go to midnight every night

Just curious- do they really get that much business on weeknights staying open until midnight?  I mean, I go to bed pretty early because I get up very early morning, but midnight on a weeknight would be sooo late for me!

  3. I am against the Thursday openings.  I am also against all of the Christmas displays they set up a month ago.  This week you couldn't even find Halloween items at most stores, it is kind of sad.  I do realize these are stores and they are here to make money, but I do not think putting the almighty dollar first instead of taking one day to celebrate family is okay.  No matter what your religious preferences are, we need to get back to the real reasons for buying gifts for our loved ones, not just to see who can get the biggest haul.

  4. One of the best 90% days for me too- got a tree for the office (the one there was so, so bad and falling apart), four sets of LED lights, some big tinsel trees, a TON of dog toys (my dog is in heaven with all of his new toys- like a second xmas and still a bunch put up!), lots of gift bags, oh, and a few felt "baskets" in a really pretty blue color that I am going to use instead of the fabric baskets for the cube style storage shelves (i am making a new craft desk/counter with those for the  base)- really excited, got all 6 for a little more than half of what one fabric bin costs!!!  Oh, also got a really nice Wilton hand mixer for my mom's bday basket, an ice bucket, and a pretty tray with a deer on it (going to use that in the camper this summer).  Tons of paper plates and napkins as well, they were kind of a purple color, so not too holiday-ish.  I think I spent about $60 between three different stores- filled the back of the SUV!  (It has been snowing pretty good all day, that probably helped me a lot!)

  5. Got this too- my order took forever to get here, I assumed it was Fedex/UPS honestly (cuz of the storms).  I came here to check and see if anyone else had received it to see if it was legit!

  6. I loved the post above with apples and oranges- we always had one of those in the "toe" part of the stocking!  My grandma is infamous for ribbon candy in the stocking, but loose, so it gets all the little fuzzies stuck to it!

Anyway, I try to fill the stockings with all the little things you use during the year like toiletries for my 18 year old, duct tape, (I loved the gas card suggestion above- I was thinking of a few small food gift cards), hubby is getting some things like sandpaper, WD-40, football cards.  Oh, the pets get stockings with treats and toys- I have caught bunnies sneaking in to get treats more than once (and they love candy canes- steal them from the tree and munch them!)

  7. I kind of got up late this morning, got to stores late, any of the "leftovers" were not things I wanted... since I refused to shop at stores Thanksgiving night I kind of expected that.  Oh, I did find the sheets I wanted at Steinmart.... they were the busiest of the stores I went to- more than Target, Home Depot or Costco!  I think it was because of the scratch off thing in the ad
