  1. My mom and I started out at JCPenney. It didn’t seem like the line was all that bad, no worse than other years, but they ran out of the coupons long before we got in the door. Usully we can be in the store shopping for awhile and they are still handing them out, so I’m assuming they passed out less than previous years. Lots of people were coming back out the doors grumbling about it. Bought a few things there and then headed next door to Walmart where we were REALLY early for the sale to start. I had tried to order an Apple watch online where I had it in my cart and went to check out and it just disappeared. Finally gave up on that and decided to try for it in the store, so getting there early was ok. We got there about 3 and the lines were already forming. I was about 5th or 6th in line. The woman who was first in line was wanting to buy a lot of the watches (not sure just how many, but it sounded like she wanted quite a few, and I’m not sure how many they had). She kept having management after management person back there talking to her telling her she could only buy 1, to look at the rest of the people in the line there to buy one too. People in line were grumbling about it, but management won out and only sold her one. They finally came back there and passed out tickets for the model we wanted so the people that weren’t going to get one because they were too far back in line would know it. They let us leave the line with our tickets and told us we could check out at layaway at 6pm. I figured they let us leave the line because of the woman, so she wasn’t harassing management anymore! After that I managed to snag every 4K movie on my list, all of my tv series and a few more impulse buys, after being told repeatedly that we couldn’t take the movies until 6. Then all of a sudden they decided we could get them at about 5:15 or so. I was disappointed that the final season of The Big Bang Theory wasn’t on sale anywhere, or if it was I missed it. I also picked up a new lightning cable, some socks, and a bath mat. Got in line about 5:30 to check out and was totally out of Walmart by about 6:30, including paying for my watch at layaway. Walmart got a nice chunk of my BF money this year. We then went to Target and bought some books that were in their sale. My mom bought a couple of movies there. Seems like we bought something else there, but it’s slipping my mind. We also hit Best Buy for another couple of series and a Wemo product that was on sale. Also bought a Ninja Foodie that I haven’t tested yet. Went to Lowe’s on Friday morning, didn’t win the $500. Bought batteries. Went to Home Depot for 3 Ryobi tools. They had 1 of them. Hit the mall for Justice, American Eagle and Bath & Body Works. Got in and out of that madhouse!!! Not sure sales were worth that craziness!! I can’t believe I just said that, but you couldn’t even hear what someone standing next to you was saying!!! That was our Black Friday sales adventure this year. I scored almost everything on my list other than the tools, which actually weren’t on sale, just was going to pick them up while we were there. Oh yeah, picked up a bug while we were shopping and got sick for several days after....
  2. Well, it looks like a Ryobi tool I was going to buy is about $20 cheaper Black Friday than now. Haven’t done a thorough look at the paper yet, but my guys usually find several things from Home Depot that they want, so I know I’ll end up here for sure.
  3. I went in the Gamestop in my town today to buy one of the PS4 controllers in one of the new colors that is advertised in the Black Friday ad and also in their Black Friday preview ad. I was told they only had one controller in the new purple color and I couldnt buy it today, they had to save it for Black Friday. I thought that was a bit dumb, I mean, a sale is a sale. Especially since they were in the ad for now. So when I ran to the next town over to pick up something at another store I decided I’d go to one of the Gamestop stores there and pick it up, only to be told the same thing by both of the stores there, that they couldn’t sell the new colors now, I had to wait until Black Friday.... So I went to Best Buy there and bought it for a little more than a dollar more...but now I have one less item to have to hunt for on Black Friday.
  4. They will ALWAYS be Burlington Coat Factory to me!!! Actually, nothing in that ad looks like it is on sale at all. Everything just says “starting at”.
  5. Yeah, I spotted that one too. I was thinking my nephew would love it, not so sure about my brother and sister-in-law...or my nieces!! They would probably all be targeted very quickly!!.
  6. Since my kids are older now, and dont really go on a big hunt for their presents anymore it’s not nearly as hard to hide them. Usally I just stash stuff in my closet behind clothes or in the floor under them, bigger stuff sometimes in the storage building out back. Not so hard to stash them in the closet since mostly what they ask for is video games and movies. BUT, last year one son wanted a new computer gaming monitor. I bought it and then decided I didn’t want to store it outside in the cold, so I stashed it in plain sight, so to speak. I put it in his closet at the back, hidden by the shorts and summer clothes that I knew he wouldn’t move. And I for sure wasn’t afraid he’d get the urge to clean his closet out and find it! LOL!! I use my Note 9 to keep up with my present & stocking stuffer ideas and purchases for each person. Now when I wrap a present I make note of it, so I don’t go on a mad rampage around the house looking for it later on (yes I have done that, and then had to unwrap a couple of presents to double check!!).
  7. No one in my family got excited when they saw this ad. The guys are waiting for Home Depot’s ad. They will want Ryobi tools, although I think they own all of them already!!! Not really, but our garage has a lot of green in it! LOL! And I’m glad I don’t have to buy any appliances this year....maybe I missed something, but the prices don’t seem spectacular to me anyhow, I gave less somewhere else for my washer and dryer when they weren't even on a holiday sale or anything.
  8. Does anyone know if you have to have a membership to order the Black Friday sale items? I’ve ordered things from them without one before and just paid an up charge, which was still cheaper than anywhere else. I spotted a couple of things I would like to have from them, but can’t justify another club membership since Sam’s is closer to us and we don’t really go to the area of town where Costco is.
  9. I’m not even sure where the nearest Sears store is. The two in Tulsa (about an hour from me anyhow) closed a year or two ago. Hard to even remember exactly when because shopping in there got so bad we didn’t hardly ever go in there. The tool department would have like one or two of a few hand tools with lots of empty spaces in between and the housewares department was just as bad. That last Christmas they were open we cut through the store to go into the mall and it was like a ghost town in there compared to the people in the mall. Really sad for a store that had been an icon to go down like that.
  10. I got mine in the mail a few days ago...no gift card or T-shirt voucher, but still cool. Maybe I’ll win a T-shirt some other way!!!
  11. Nice prizes. I’m usually more of a lurker, but am going to try to be more involved this year.
  12. There isn’t one of these stores near where I live, but I just looked at the ad out of curiosity. I’d probably buy some of the motor oil for a stock up. Pretty good price on it with the rebate. I’d end up buying some of the clothing items too. Oh well, back to the ads for where I live.
  13. Personally, I found more at their 1 Day Sale than in this ad. It seems to have the popular blankets and TVs in the ad, and since we aren’t buying a tv this year I haven’t really paid attention to the prices of those for comparison. So unless my mom, who I BF shop with every year, sees something she wants, we probably will pass on Sam’s this year.
  14. I get Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons all the time in the mail for 20% off one item. The cool thing with them is you can still use them after they expire, and if you buy more than one thing in a purchase, you can use the same number of coupons as items purchased, without having to pay in a different transaction, But the awesome thing I notice about this years ad is that instead of the normal 20% off entire purchase coupon (which usually I have so many coupons stockpiled that 20% off isn’t any different than any other day) this one is for 25% off entire purchase! Of course there are the usual exemptions, but for me it will still be worth the extra stop this year.
  15. I see Walmart will be my first stop for movies for sure. I was going to pick up an iPad for my husband this year so Walmart may be where I get it too. I did spot several smaller things I’m interested in, but the iPad is probably my biggest purchase this year, as everyone has mostly smaller items on their list. Now, I’m waiting for Sam’s Club, Home Depot and Lowe’s ads.
  16. I LOVE Black Friday for movies...I always buy for me that day too. One movie for someone else, two for me, one for someone else, two for me...LOL!! Seriously though, Big Bang Theory for my husband, probably Bohemian Rhapsody on 4K for him too. Walking Dead Season 9 on Blu-ray, John Wick 3 on 4K and Deadwood: The Movie for one son. The other one hasn’t told me anything yet. I will be looking for any of the NCIS series, Criminal Minds, Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, etc. for me.
  17. I was just looking in the Joann flyer that came today, and they have Cricut Maker bundle for $399.99. Cricut Explore Air 2 for $199.99. And Cricut Explore Air 2 Wild Rose Bundle for $229.99. The flyer says it goes Nov 10-26 and I don’t see any particular date on that page so I’m assuming that price is good the whole time. These used to go on sale on Black Friday for even cheaper, but I haven’t been in the market for one in a couple of years so I haven’t paid as much attention to the price.
  18. I would love one of these for when I forget to defrost something for dinner....like all the time! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07S85TPLG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_LznVDbM8308G2
  19. I’ll give it a try too! I do love the updates on all the sales out there!
  20. In our house everyone loves movies and tv shows, so I'm always on the lookout for those. Video games are usually on the list for my sons, and recently my youngest sons PS3 has been acting up, so I won't be surprised if that is on his list...or a PS4, not that I'm sure that will happen!!! As for me, I'd like to find a good vacuum cleaner on sale. Oh, and my tv shows of course, but those aren't presents for me, they're my reward for braving the lines!!! The closer Black Friday gets the longer the wish lists get for everyone, but that's ok, it gives me several items to choose from according to the sales at the time.
  21. Gatorburg, We do have weekly food ads here, so we're not QUITE that outdated in Oklahoma, just on some things!! But you did give me a good laugh!!! As for the black Friday ads being the same, some stores may have been the same price no matter what state you were in...but I always save the PDF's of the ads to my computer so I can show my mom what's supposed to be in the sales, and I know that a lot of the things in the Walmart ad in particular were higher here when we compared the paper ad when we got it in the mail. Like I said before, it was mostly electronics, but there were also higher prices on some video games, movies, appliances and clothing. Clothing was generally only a dollar or two more here, but TV's and computers were the biggest price difference ............ I know for a fact that last year I bought a video game that was $10 higher here than in the Walmart ad for other states and the jeans I bought were $2 more here. In the last couple of years there have been a few items from the Walmart ad that when you actually got in the store were marked less than the advertised price, but not always as low as the national price. And several years ago during one of the Saturday sales there was a laptop advertised on the internet for the in store sale and when I got to our store I found out they were like $120 more here in Oklahoma than elsewhere.....there were a lot of people in the store that morning for the laptop and tv that were on sale that were VERY unhappy!!!! At least this year I should be able to plan for shopping a little better since the prices I see on here should be what I see in Oklahoma too.. no waiting for the paper ads to arrive to see what Oklahoma gets to pay!!!
  22. Well, here in Oklahoma we're just a few days away from our new Black Friday law going into effect....... SB 550 allows Oklahoma retailers to sell general merchandise products at any price below cost up to 15 days in a row on a specific product, up to 10 times a year. Groceries, drugs, gas, and lumber will still be subject to the law as before, but the pricing of all other products will fall under the provisions of SB 550. SB 550 will take effect November 1, 2013, just in time for Oklahomans to enjoy their first true Black Friday sales. .I know I'm happy that when the sales prices are posted for other states they should be what we see here too??!! Personally I think it will be great seeing as how pretty much all the other states had considerably better deals on electronics than us for a lot of years..... We even paid a little more most of the time for clothing, movies and video games. Renee
  23. In my case (because I live in Oklahoma) the worst black friday deals for me are at Walmart.... I say this because once I compared the prices for most other states and Oklahoma it made me very aggravated to say the least!! Some examples of the price differences: on the front cover *Laptop - OK $349.00 other states $279.00 *60" Vizio - OK $976.00 other $688.00 *Blu-Ray player - OK $48.00 other $38 *ipad 2 - same price (So it must not be a bargain!!! lol!!!) *Inside the flyer * a Compaq laptop - OK $309.00 other $179.00 *sheet sets - OK $34.00 other $19.96 * other things like toys and clothes seem to be anywhere from .50 to a couple of bucks higher in OK * Video games that are $25.00 elsewhere, in Oklahoma they will be $39.00. There are very few items that are the same price as other states. Mostly it's the electronics that are priced insanely different.
