Sears is showing a good attitude towards bargain hunter shoppers with this press release... unlike Walmart or Big Lots' unfriendly - even adversarial - behavior.

It's not that Big Lots doesn't appreciate the free advertisement from Gottadeal (they do), it's just that they don't want to be a party in creating an early morning Black Friday crowd scene outside of every Big Lots Store and the inevitable injuries that would result when the frenzied shoppers make the mad dash for the soon to expire Poptarts priced 3 boxes for 99 cents as soon as the doors open. Gottadeal revealing Big Lots' rock bottom price on the almost out of date Poptarts will just be too much advertising market saturation for Big Lots to support safety. So you see, it's for the best for everyone involved.

A couple of years ago (2006), I stayed over my Mom's house in Riverside, CA on Black Friday eve. I got up in the early morning, around 2:00 am, when the sale started, to place an order for a 42" Samsung HDTV DLP during Circuit City's Black Friday 6 Hour online sale. I tried placing the order multiple times for over an hour with no luck. The CC website was extremely slow and just would not allow me to complete the order. I was really tired and finally gave up. Disappointed, I went back to bed. I managed to wake up with about an hour or so left for the online Black Friday sale so I decided to give it one more try. Thankfully, the order went through on the first try. I then woke up my Mom, got some coffee onboard, and we headed out the doors at about 6:45am. We were able to get many good BF deals at Home Depot, Sears, Best Buy, and Lowes. I didn't attempt to wait in any BF lines but I was still able to still pickup a lot of useful items.

Well, counting my previous life, this will be 113 years. Course we didn't call it Black Friday back in 1890s, we called it "Wish Book" Shopping. We would read the Sears, Roebuck and Company Catalog and wish we could buy the things shown in it.

I bought a re-manufactured Spot Bot (Green Colored) at Big Lots for $75 two weeks ago. They had several boxes of them. Even though it was re-manufactured, it looked brand new to me.

The EZ Rebate web page is down more than it's up, at least, it is on my end.

I check the status of my 3 pending rebates with Staples EZ Rebate system. All three rebate status' stated "printed/mailed" However, there is no date to know when they were actually mailed. Should I assume the the rebate checks are in the mail or will it take weeks more to get them? I really hate playing the rebate game. Staples EZ Rebate is pretty nice though if you do play.

Check out the Casino buffets. Don't know one in particular but several of them usually offer very reasonable cost.

I'm in for one of each staplers. I got the staple remover and the Easy Button. I think I'm going to use the Easy Button, that plays "That was Easy" when you push it, to tease my daughter:)

Agreed. It's a big game. ATI denied a $20 rebate for a Wonder HDTV video capture card I bought from Buy.com stating it was outside the rebate period. Of course it wasn't outside the rebate period and had to send in the same proof I had done in the first place. On my second call they claimed they had mailed the check the day before I called. More likely they weren't going to mail the check unless I called to inquire a second time. I haven't seen a check yet. I noticed the latest games retailers/rebate companies play are: 1.They expire the rebate on the same day of the sale 2. Shorten the grace period to get the documentation/proof of purchase to them 3. Place a requirement that you have to call to check on the rebate after some extended period of time. I guess they do this so they won't pay you unless you call. 4. Set a date in which the rebate program expires and they will not pay you even if you submitted the required information/proof.
