  2. Hi Serena, Welcome back :) Do you remember the model number of that Fuji? They make excellent entry level digicams without having to spend $500 on a 5MP digicam.

  8. Hi pmptg, to the forums, please make yourself at home :) That's a pretty loaded laptop. I did a similiar configuration (minus Tripplite and external USB floppy) and my total came out to $1,864? I would consider removing the Norton Internet Security. There are plenty of free applications which act as a firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware. But if this is for someone who is not-so-computer savvy, then you should probably get it. One thing you should NOT skimp on is the warranty. You don't have to get at home or complete care but definitely go for at least 2-3 years warranty coverage. Remember laptops are not cheap or easy to fix. Upgrading to the 2 year at home warranty is only $124 which is well worth it. Also most premium credit cards offer free 1 year extended warranty on electronics/computer purchases.
  9. If his vision isn't that great, you want the LOWEST resolution LCD display. So don't upgrade to the more expensive 17" LCD on the 9300, just keep it the standard/low end option. Congratulations :)

  13. Hi Matt, Do you know if Dell Home charges sales tax in your state? For $1000 after coupon and rebate that's a warm deal. About 6 weeks ago I bought a nicely loaded Dell Inspiron 6000 for $748. If Dell brings back the $750 off $1499 then you might want to wait. It also depends on how soon you need this laptop? Who knows maybe this summer these insane hot deals will dry up and we're back to $200 rebate offers?
