My Walmart pre BF plasma TV from at least 10 years ago died unceremoniously on Friday. The thought of having to take it down/ trash it fills me with dread. I DON'T need a TV ASAP

That was a lot of work to get to the Nightmare stuff at the end. 100% was thinking they'd stopped. Love the critter stuff even if it's mostly just for window shopping since my disney collection basically wins out over other themes.Ā

Woooo! Thought I'd missed a month. Finally started new job, so far lots of training and new information. Sad to see ppl are still hired based on social skills and presentation, Wondering how far these 2 are going to get. Looks like trainer is new to position too so slow and unsure going.Ā

Welcome April! A little sad to lose my freedom but excited to finally start a new job at the end of the month (assuming background and medical goes well as expected).Ā
Ā
Way to go @Gator Pam! I pushed back my checkup to take advantage of new insurance benefits and avoid continuing paying into 2 deductibles for the year. Kinda catch 22, it would've been nice to get everything out of the way beforehand but I'm not trying to throw 200$+ into thin air,Ā IF that since procedures may be converted under new benefits BEFORE deductible is met.

Was reading that Joannās is closing about 500 of their 800 stores with this round of bankruptcy. Not going to be many of them left inmost states.Ā
I feel like they may go the way of Big Lots and not do much reduction. I'm out of town but have a couple slow days to get stuff done and decided to hit the Party City's in the area hoping for amazing deals.Ā At the register for Party City I overhear a lady talking about Joann's had AT MOST 20% off. I HAD considered walking over but decided against it since I'd already blown entirely too much time at the mall. The one Party City had more stuff and better discounts while the other was more picked through and had less discounts. The one back home had better costume selection and for $4 whereas here they were a flat 80% off. I may stop by one tomorrow in Orlando assuming I wake up early and have the full day to peruse.Ā

Maybe I'm stuck in the past but
it's scary what these places charge as regular price for decoration/ splurge/ unnecessary things.Ā Even at 75% off, I couldn't justify buying Halloween clearance at Joann's (Michael's was worse).
Ā
Big Lots was a huge time waster trying to figure out what to spend my $20 gift card on. Wound up just buying Christmas Nightmare lights and spending more since 1 set wouldn't do much but I couldn't find $20 worth of other stuff to buy after walking around for like an hour. Everyone was walking around saying the same thing, Where's the sale? The shelves were pretty bare, lots of damaged stuff and one offs or loads of the same unwanted things, a handful of suitcases with zippers struggling to open.

I saw Big Lots was saved so they wonāt be closing all stores.Ā
We lost the bigger one last October and now losing the remaining closer one
Ā Gotta find that giftcard I won and use it before it's trash.

Itās beenĀ a mixed morning so far, and I havenāt even been awake an hour yet.

Good news is Social Security has approved my Medicare application and I have been issued my Medicare number for coverage to start next month. I need to go to DSHS to apply for Senior Medicaid (as my standard adult Medicaid ends at the end of next month) and for assistance with premiums and deductibles.
Ā
Bad news is Beornās Hanukkah present was supposed to be delivered yesterday. I even received an email from USPS to expect delivery by 9 PM. It didnāt arrive.
Ā
This morning Informed Delivery shows the last time the package was scanned was in Colorado on Sunday, and the update says āarriving late, expected delivery unknown.ā I reached out to the company who mailed it, but havenāt heard back and honestly donāt expect anything from them since they mailed it out on time.
Hopefully the package reappears and gets delivered before needed. USPS has been struggling this holiday season at least with my handful of packages. 2 packages dispatched from same company, dropped off at same location, taking same route, arrived just a little over a week after each other which is bad enough without considering the usual delivery time for them is 2 days total (Orlando to Miami). I've got another arriving today that's been out and about since 7th. If it's stuck at a location opening a ticket via contact us on usps page usually gets it moving again, not sure it'll help with holiday mail though

I have a new pet peeveā¦companies who tell you your order has shipped when all they have done is created the label
I've had 1 package stuck at that about a week. Otherwise just usual USPS holiday foolishness. I'm waiting on multiple packages from same place. Last to ship is arriving today, original due Friday stuck in transit between locations. I'm just hoping it didn't fall through a Crack and get lost.Ā
Ā
My BIGGEST pet peeve recently is USPS marking things delivered hours before they are. It's not the first time but when it's a gift card in question I worry. And it's just shitty practice insurance wise or whatever. Plus, our carrier misdelivers stuff regularly so it's a genuine concern with holiday packages.Ā

iPad Setup
in 2024
Now that I've bought the iPad and don't really foresee any bigger discounts, can I take it into the Apple store to get stuff transferred over? Do they charge for that?
Ā
Can I do it? I'm kinda techie just not with Apple. Is it straight forward, similar to phone transfer stuff or am I better off taking it to the professionals in case I screw something up? I know it has some account/profile associated with it that I can access from the settings.

Lots of Swifties in my area and one of my best friends needed a hand getting the TSwift items, as she is a fan, though not insane level. (Her nearest Target is over an hour away from her and she had to work at 7 am on BF.) That said, I planned accordingly. I set my alarm for 2:30 am. Got up, put on my BF is dead shirt (thanks, Brad!), layered up for the cold and snow and headed out the door. Arrived at my Target around 3:30 am. There were about 5 or 6 other cars that weren't employees and all of us were temporarily content to stay in our nice warm cars, though there were three brave (crazy?) folks already lined up at the door. Right around 3:45, a slew of cars rolled in within minutes of each other. People immediately started piling out of those newly arrived cars (dang rookies). Oof. Two gals in car next to me who had quickly figured out I was a BF veteran were watching to see what I would do. I resigned myself to being stuck standing outside for over two hours and zipped up my coat, giving them a distinct look of "well, not happy, but here we go". They began preparing themselves to get out as well. We joined the line with about a dozen or so in front of us. Found out first one in line had been there since midnight. The two behind her had arrived around 2. Snow kept falling the entire time we stood in line. Felt like BFs of old in some ways. Line quickly grew very long behind us. If I'd waited till 4 to show up, I very likely would have been too late.
About 20 minutes before the doors opened, the store manager came out to have a look at the line and inform us that the vinyls would be limited to 1/person and that they would have folks inside to direct us to the area where the merch was.Ā 6:00 hits. Doors open. They allow the first group in, stopping the line briefly just before they got to me. A minute or so passes and they let the next group in, myself included. I headed to the line for the merch. Turned out the store manager himself was handing out the TSwift items to each person. He had the process down to an art form and the line moved quickly. I got one of each item (Vinyl, Book, CD) and headed straight for the checkout, as that was all I needed in-store at Target. It was now roughly 6:05 am. (Sent my buddy a pic of the stuff and told her "you're welcome". LOL)Ā
Next stop was Home Depot for the Grinch and Max (dog) inflatables. Crowds were light here. HD was also, as always, passing out munchies and drinks in the form of muffins, fresh fruit, water, juice, and coffee. Score. I grabbed a couple other smaller items and headed for check out. Quick and easy (and now my tummy was happy). Headed over to PetSmart for their 7 am opening to stock up on kitty litter. Grabbed about 300 lbs worth (should last me most, if not all, of this next year), picked up a few other things for the furbabies, and headed for the check out. Again, crowd was light here. Had everything loaded in my car by 7:30. Off to Menards. It was busy, but not really any more than a typical Saturday crowd. Grabbed the power banks, some electronic hand warmers, phone charging cables, cheap fleece throws to donate to local animal groups, batteries, and a few other little things. Wandered a bit, knowing they were my last stop before my first off-load at home. Left Menards around 8:30 and headed for home. Unloaded at home and prepared for my Torrid shift that began at 11:30. Knowing I wanted to hit Bath & Body Works first, I left my house around 9:45. B&BW was busy (as I expected) but I made full use of my multiple coupons and walked out with darn near $200 worth of stuff for $63. Not bad. Clocked in at Torrid on time. Worked till 6. Snow continued off and on throughout the day, making road conditions treacherous on my way home. I hit the nearest Meijer, as I needed some grocery items and then started the slow trek home. What normally takes me roughly 25-30 minutes from that point took me well over an hour. Black ice everywhere. Was relieved when I finally walked in my door safely around 9 pm. Whew. All in all, got what I needed/was hoping to get while I was out.Ā
Is the cat litter only an in store thing? I'm gonna TRY to remember this for next year. I feel like I've seen multiple people post over the years that they stock up for the year and that would be so helpful for rescues, etc IF I could get it shipped OR be near a location to buy/drop off.

In my mind what you were after was a Dyson, just seen someone I follow post a rave review about this Dyson. Also, found a Shark for a bit less on Target website:
Ā
Dyson V7 $199.99Ā at WalmartĀ or Dyson site
Ā
Shark Pet Cordless $149.99Ā at Target
Ā
I know Target Red Card will get you an extra 5%, not sure if there's any benefit to buying directly from Dyson. Walmart may have additional cashback via one of the sites.
