Need help on a laptop for Boss' daughter
Marcster replied to a topic in Deal Finder & Deal Discussion
Don't forget that since she's only 11, she'd qualify for Academic versions of Microsoft's Office programs, including Word. Such as: Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000C0XT1/103-9644363-9130216?v=glance&n=229534 -

The AMS VENUS DS-2512CBK (USB + IEEE 1394). $49.99 + $6.67 S/H. It uses a 40mm fan, but still gets 4 out of 5 stars. Someone says: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817145654

I have three (3) of these:http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/17-145-656-02.JPG Gotta http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Love/hb1.gif the 80mm fan keeping things cool. Much quieter than the 40mm high-speed jobs in most externals. All aluminum, pretty quiet. No complaints, I just wish it came in a silver configuration. Check out the reviews on Newegg for the DS3 = stellar. 250 reviews, averaging 5 stars, you just won't find that with any others. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817145656 $36.99 + $4.99 S/H There is a version of the DS3 on Newegg that does Firewire, and another that does SATA drives, but either one of those is more $$$ than what I've posted above. I'm going to get one of these soon: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817332003 (AMS VENUS T4 USB RAID Storage). You can set it up for RAID 1, which is unique in an external hard drive enclosure.

I forgot to mention: Wal-Mart tire centers have decent prices too. K-Mart has tires as well, but I don't know how the prices are.

Great! Have fun! -
Those were probably for sizes like 175/70R13 (small diameter, skinny tires). Try Sam's Club, Costco, or BJ's. I know Sam's includes lifetime tire rotations and balancing, with a road hazard warranty. I'm pretty sure that Costco & BJ's do too. The lifetime tire rotations can save you quite a bit of money! For instance, if the tires last 45,000 miles and you rotate every 7,500 miles, you'll save $60 (based on $10 cost to rotate tires). You can get a membership to Sam's Club, Costco, or BJ's for about $30-35 a year. If you don't have a membership for one of those places, try Pep Boys or Sears. Want to go even cheaper? Sometimes junk yards will have tires from wrecks, but it will be hit or miss to find the right size for your car, and they may not have all come from the same car (and therefore not all have the same tread pattern and wear characteristics). They typically sell them for $5-10 each, plus installation.

I think you just hit the nail on the head. http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/Tasks/go12.gif The Lounge is semi-private to prevent trolling... everything else should be "open", IMHO. If people want to participate, they'll join up. I don't think GD needs a bunch of people with a zero post count. EDIT: That's funny, looks like Brad was posting the same thing as I was typing this! http://s23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/Marcster2005/Smileypad/LOL/Grin-Nod.gif
