  1. I got one but I don't think its a Lyra... it looks like it but it doesn't say Lyra anywhere on the box. Does anyone know if it has an FM tuner?? Most other (less expensive) ones do but it doesn't say on the box.
  2. I would have brought my husband to stand in line while I shopped! He doesn't know it, but next year he's coming with me!!!
  3. Didn't get the $2.99 1GB SD cards at Circuit city, and best buy wouldn't price match. Also didn't get the $15 Monopoly here and now from walmart. I managed to get a raincheck though since the item was from the regular ad and not from the one day sale. So there's still hope!
  4. Our walmart ad was mailed to our house earlier this week. The paper I bought had a Best buy ad, but it didn't have several other ads i was expecting (JC pennys, sears, home depot, etc). My dad gets home delivery and I got those ads from him. Apparently when you go out and buy a paper in the store it doesn't always have all the ads!
  5. Thanks for the responses! motoXmom.... Very good point, I never thought of it that way. I'm always afraid that somebody's going to return the gift and find out I didn't spend the full $50. I probably won't be handing out gift receipts then... if somebody wants to return their present they can try to get store credit I guess. But I suppose not having to spend the full $50 is compensation for getting up before the crack of dawn and standing in the freezing cold to get into walmart at 5am! :)
  6. Last year I tried to get it all done on BF, but all through December I kept remembering somebody else I had to buy for! This year I'm trying to be better organized- I've been writing down everybody I have to get a gift for as I think of them. So i'm crossing my fingers that I'll remember them all on BF!!

    Gift dilemma

I have a little gift dilemma and I would appreciate an outside point of view... My husband's family does a secret santa drawing among the adults with a limit of $50. With all the great deals out there, I can purchase $50 worth of gifts for much less. So then I feel obligated to spend more to get up to the $50 limit. I have the same problem with my nephew's gifts... My budget is $25 but the gifts I've gotten have been half price. So do I spend the extra money to bring it up to the limit or do I just say I have $50 worth of gifts and leave it at that (even though I didn't spend that much)? I'm pretty certain that other family members don't go out of their way to find the best prices... My husband says that Christmas is not about the gifts and nobody cares how much I actually spend, but he's not in charge of buying the gifts!!
  8. My husband's family gets together either the first or 2nd saturday in December for a full day of baking and decorating cookies. We even have a contest of who can decorate the best sugar cookie :) The winner get to eat the winning cookie
  9. I wouldn't have said anything... the cashier knew that there was a problem w/the Halloween items in the first place but was probably hoping you wouldn't notice so she wouldn't have to go thru the trouble of calling the manager over. I got a kid's sleeping bag at Toys r us on one of their 70% off clearance sales. I was home before i realized it only rang up for $1.97- the cashier took 70% off the the already reduced price! There was no way i was going all the way back just so they could re ring it for the correct price.
  10. Our girls are ages 3 and 1. Money is tight this year- ususally we buy gifts from the money in our checking account, but this year most if it will have to be on a credit card. I'm going to try to stick to $50-$75 per child. They are too young to have any concept of how much we're spending, plus they get gifts from grandparents and aunts & uncles so they will have plenty of presents to open :)
