And they forgot a "t" in GottaDeal, lol. I remember that ad scan - I believe it was 2004. Ah, the good old days, lol.
-
I think that quote was made up by the poster and is just the kind of thing they think a retailer should say if they wanted to use this to their advantage.
-
I doubt you'll see a major retailer do that, but you never know. We do get BF ads sent to us directly from smaller retailers every year as well, and this year I'll be sure to mention which stores those are in case you want to shop there and/or thank them for embracing the goal of this site.
-
If you add the "Jumbo Universal Remote Control" from Ace Hardware to your shopping list on the BF site, it just might give you special access to some "other" stuff later on that might not otherwise be visible. Shhhhhhhhhh.......

It is way to soon to know these things. Check back in a month or so.

Please post it here if you don't mind. We don't allow links to other BF sites as they have spammed us in the past.

Even with a myspace page, Wal-Mart could very quickly get it taken down. I would say just keep checking the forum here. While the ad might not be posted on the main Black Friday site, the info (or a link to where to get it) will almost guaranteed be posted here on the forum and we'll keep it up as long as possible.
-
If they really wanted to keep it a secret, they should unveil the ad on their web site only on 11/19. It would cut down on the possible sources of a leak with there being no printing or distribution.
-
From today's article on CNet/ZDNet: So Best Buy and Circuit City seem to "get it". They know that a site like this won't hurt them in any major way and will likely help generate buzz for their sale. Sure they won't officially endorse the site, but they won't send the lawyers either. (of course don't be shocked to see a letter from either or both of them in the coming weeks, lol)
-
They could, but anyone who registers at any time during the registration period gets put into a random drawing for the first however many spots, so there would be no advantage to getting there early.

I am 99% sure the Wal-Mart ad has not been leaked already. Anyone claiming to have it is probably just saying that to get people to go to their site (or they have last year's ad).
-
Why haven't they "reminded" us in the past? And if this is just a "reminder", I might just happen to "forget" and post the ad until they have to "remind" me again
-
How about have people register earlier in the week (Monday or Tuesday). Randomly pick the first however many spots and notify them on Wednesday what number they are. As long as they are there by 1 hour before opening they get their spot, and if people want to camp out for the spots behind this main group, let them.
-
Their competitors' ads have already been prepared and printed, and in some cases their competitors' ads come out BEFORE Wal-Mart's ad. Other than add something at the last minute with a supplementary ad or an in-store flyer, there isn't much they can do this late in the game. And if Wal-Mart's ad comes out on 11/19 like they say it can, that still gives other stores 4-5 days to make last minute changes.
-
Don't worry about going to other BF sites - we all know which is the best site :) And yeah, I was expecting more from the other sites. I guess they are more concerned with keeping their affiliate relationship with Wal-Mart than doing what's right. They don't want to chance losing $ from Wal-Mart, so they have to keep Wal-Mart happy. That's obviously not happening here, lol. Kind of sad, since if Wal-Mart gets away with this, every other store can easily do the same thing to all the BF sites. Once again, keep calling and e-mailing today everyone. Let them know you're not going to go away anytime soon!

Another good suggestion: create a fire with Wal-Mart BF ads

I am going to keep the legal aspects of this private. But to clarify, yes, obviously there is a difference between a letter e-mailed from a lawyer and an official order from a court. During the 4 years this site has been open similar things have happened with other retailers, so none of these tactics are "new". The posts in this thread (and the replies to those posts) from one now-former member have been deleted. They were inflammatory and the member was basically trolling and trying to get everyone upset. This was the same member who was attacking other members in the Wal-Mart layaway thread. They have been banned from the site. Once again everyone, keep e-mailing and calling. If you called today, call again tomorrow. Keep the pressure on them and don't let up. Thanks to everyone who has done something today :)
-
Thank you to everyone who keeps calling and e-mailing them :) But don't stop today - keep calling them every day until they change their decision. If the calls stop after today, they'll feel as if they've "weathered the storm" and nothing will get done. Your e-mails and especially your calls are making a difference!
-
They aren't suing anyone yet. They are saying if we post the ads they will consider legal action.
-
Probably wants to ask me to stop having you guys call her all day
-
The original e-mail was sent by a law firm, not someone at Wal-Mart. They have nothing to do with this other than doing what their client tells them to do.
-
what's the saying? any publicity is good publicity maybe we'll once again see those ebay auctions promising "black friday secrets - the info wal-mart doesn't want you to have!!!!"
