Happy June! It's been a super busy month here, and with working tomorrow, I will have only worked 12 days the entire month (and I pretty much work every day to pay for luge), which is crazy for me. My oldest started his internship in Philly on June 2, so I moved him into his apartment on June 1. Then Kendall's last day of school was June 4, and she, my other son, my husband, and I boarded a plane that night to go see my BFF in FL for 10 days. Returned from FL on the 14th, worked 4 days, and then Kendall had a couple of teammates fly in for her sweet 16 on June 19th. Spent the weekend taking them to Hersheypark, bowling on a rainy day, and to a friend's pool, as well as taking Kendall to get her learner's permit, before driving Kendall and her teammates to Lake Placid to start their summer training camp. Came back home on Wednesday, and have been working every day since. I head back to Lake Placid in mid August to pick her back up, and she starts her junior year on August 25, and summer is done. Unfortunately, the few days I was in LP, I didn't get to see any luge practices, since they weren't doing wheels training, and they had testing to start the season, which they compare to where the finished last season, so nothing for spectators, unfortunately. The pic I do have was taken a few days ago, in front of the USA Luge start house (there are 2 frozen tracks inside where they practice exactly what it sounds like, their starts), and it is of all of the team that was in LP at the time, from the Development Team (beginners), all the way up to the Sr. National Team (including those who will be heading to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy in February). See you next month!6 points

I was going to wait until next Sunday, the 13th, to harvest my garlic in my raised bed at Marymoor Community Garden on the Eastside of Seattle, but it looks like we’ll get some rain this week. We’ve been dry for awhile, so I went ahead and did it today. [ 3 elephant garlic 12 large garlic 17 medium garlic 12 baby garlic 1 rotted head 1 spring garlic 49 total heads of garlic harvested from a 6’x3’ raised bed inter planted with 8 tomato plants, calendula, sweet basil, Thai Holy basil, and an asparagus crown.3 points

Checking in for July from sunny Oahu! Our vacation is going wayyy too fast but we’re trying to enjoy every minute of it. Last year my best friend from high school and her husband were hoping to come here with us but that’s when her husband’s cancer returned. Unfortunately he passed away in April but we were able to talk her into joining us this year, sort of a bittersweet trip. This is a photo I took this morning while we were parasailing.3 points

I’m kinda wishing this silly hot weather would end. I don’t mind some heat but I do t need it triple digits.3 points

I saw videos the other night of lines outside Dick's Sporting Goods after the Thunder won the NBA Championship. I told my sister, I didn't want a t-shirt but I low-key wanted to be in that line. It reminded me of old school Black Friday. I'm sure glad I wasn't in that crowd at the parade today though :).3 points

Another sale to "complete" with Prime Day: http://corporate.walmart.com/news/2025/06/23/hot-deals-cool-prices-walmart-deals-returns-with-six-days-of-major-savings-online-and-in-store3 points

My landlords son’s birthday is next week, but my landlords are going to visit him this weekend. I generally bake some sort of goody for his birthday. This year it is This Old’s Instant Pot plain New York cheesecake with homemade strawberry glaze and strawberries. It will chill overnight and go up with my landlords tomorrow. I increase the recipe for an 8”x3” push pan, but the recipe is written for a 6”x3” pan. Jill gives directions for increasing the size for different diameter pans to keep the thickness consistent.3 points

And here we are almost done with July... I'm excited for Costco Scan n Go -- I hope that pans out. Also disappointed with a prime week. Also not excited about the tariffs upping all the prices on items I've been watching.2 points

Another month, and the weather just makes it hard to do anything. Its either severe storms or blistering heat. Luckily a few trips I've had to make have all gone without a hitch. Prime Week has passed and I was disappointed to not find much that I really wanted. Then again, my wish list is pretty small right now. At least that gives me hope that Black Friday might have the deals I'm seeking.2 points

Aw, thank you! He is driving across the country with his girlfriend, so no parents required, lol and His girlfriend has been attending culinary school, so she is planning to get a job as a cook, which means we have no idea if she will be able to get vacation when he has school breaks, so we have no idea when we will see him again once he leaves, which is definitely depressing. And with our daughter traveling the world all winter, we will be mostly empty nesters a couple of years earlier than one would typically expect Ugh. But another time, if we're able to get out there!2 points

I’ve had the original Lazy Susan Revolution on my wish list as a holiday gift for my landlady for several years now. She enjoys when I cook festive meals such as Passover, Thanksgiving, or Christmas. But she always kids about us having to circle the table in order to fill our plates before sitting. If this product actually works as advertised, I’m hoping her days of complaining about this particular thing will be in the past. Not a huge price break, but enough for me to purchase it.2 points

I’ve ordered nothing so far. Not enough of a discount on things in my cart to make me care.2 points

I've gone through all my wish lists and added a few items. I've wavering on a few others that are cheaper than when I put them on the list, but do I REALLY need them? LOL2 points

I splurged and bought myself the new Kindle Paperwhite Signature for my November cruise and a pack of new underwear. I'm quite sure more will find its way to my cart before it all said and done.2 points

July is a great time to reflect on the great things that happened the first half of the year. It doesn’t matter how small or big it was because it brought you joy. Happy July everyone!2 points

It has been hot and humid here, too. Right after my son finished mowing the lawn today, we had a pop-up thunderstorm. He couldn't have timed it any better.2 points

I was at a show at Pine Knob on Sunday. 97° before the doors and people were tailgating on the asphalt. I admired their dedication from my air conditioned SUV. It was still high 80s when the show ended at 11. Still not the hottest temp I’ve ever seen Keith Urban in2 points

Been stupid hot today. Driving back home from seeing family and it’s been 95-99 actual temp the entire day. Stopped to charge our car and I thought I was going to bake getting the charge cable hooked up and started.2 points

Happy July! Slow month here, with my luger still away for the summer, and my oldest in Philly, working in an internship. August will be crazy. We move the oldest from his sublet back to his Temple dorm for his senior year, and his third year as an RA on the 9th. Then I head up to Lake Placid on the 12th for a few days, to bring Kendall back on the 16th. And my youngest boy, who moves to Seattle in September for school, is getting his wisdom teeth out on the 22nd. Something for everyone, lol. And school starts for Kendall on the 25th, so she'll be super happy about that, lol. Anyway, this month's pic is courtesy of Kendall's BFF teammate's mom, who is visiting them from WI this week. The team is off on Sundays and Mondays, but Kendall and Breckan aren't letting moss grow under their feet, so while their Candidate Team teammates are doing wheels training (K and B are training up with the Jr. National Team for the summer, so their time commitments are different from their teammates), they are there to help the coaches. And I'll add a video that came up in my Timehop yesterday from just 4 years ago, to show the difference in Kendall's size, because she was tiny then, and didn't even weigh enough to get to the end of the start track, and now she's almost 5'6", and no longer the smallest on the team. export_2430501910654336240.mp41 point

Garlic can be used immediately after harvesting; curing doesn’t affect the culinary aspect. But if it isn’t cured it will rot fairly quickly. It’s too fresh to have a long shelf life. It just needs to dry out for about a month before being stored. Then it could last as long as a year if stored properly.1 point
-
I never knew that about curing garlic. I was thinking about trying to grow it and am so glad I read this. Thank you.1 point

At the end of tomato season, I hang the cut vines upside down in the solarium to encourage any remaining unripe tomatoes to ripen. It works pretty well. When I heard I needed to cure the garlic for about a month by hanging it to prepare it for long term storage, I figured perhaps a similar method will work.1 point

If it's not raining it hot and humid and some days it hot, humid and raining. So ready for the cool crisp fall air.1 point

We had a good 4th. Did ribs on the smoker, baked beans, potato salad, corn on the cob and Mac n cheese. Yesterday we did leftovers and added some better cheddars. Today I’m doing wings on the grill. Saw fireworks off in the distance Friday and went to a local farm that did a nice display last night. Today we kind of bummed around the cabin, working on putting up a new fence here so did that yesterday and will do more tomorrow. Going to be a 2 summer job. Doing our cabin and my in-laws next door.1 point

So sticky today. May be "cooler" but that almost makes it worse with this high humidity. Blah. Over it.1 point

Ahhh Valid Point. I try to only deal with Walmart. We did buy a Gazebo thru Walmart this Spring that was nothing like described and just junk? It was 16” smaller than described so Walmart refunded all money, said Keep it and we bought a Mainstay ( which is Top Notch) (Repackaged first one and donated it)1 point

Saw that Costco is testing out a version of Scan & Go. I tend to go to Sam's more often for that reason alone. If Costco rolls it out nationwide I'd probably shop there more than I do now.1 point
