nsusa Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 I am usually buying Dell Business style laptops, but the new ones are so ugly - I can't stand it. So, I think my next laptop will be a Sony Vaio. I am looking at a customized version of the NW or the FW. There are plenty of places to buy from, but most shops or online stores do only carry pre-configured ones. I need a custom configuration that meets my needs. The only place I know of where to order a custom Sony Vaio is at www.SonyStyle.com. Any other places you know of where I could get a customized Sony Vaio, but at a better price?! Or are there any coupons/tricks/employee codes for the official Sony website to get the price down a little bit? Thanks.
Marcster Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 You know that Sony Vaio laptops are prone to failure, don't you? These are all within the past year... If you go back further, the problems are worse.http://www.techimo.com/forum/networking-internet/230772-sony-vaio-wireless-problem.htmlhttp://www.tomshardware.com/forum/30647-35-sony-vaio-frv27-power-jack-problemhttp://getsatisfaction.com/bestbuy/topics/sony_vaio_not_able_to_chargehttp://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-support/laptop-support/403408-sony-vaio-sound-problem.htmlhttp://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-amd64/2009/08/17/msg000932.htmlhttp://club.cdfreaks.com/f87/pioneer-dvr-k16d-sony-vaio-problem-226657/http://grownupgeek.com/sony-vaio-keyboard-problems Also, Sony laptops tend to be very expensive for the level of performance they provide. Have you considered Lenovo, Asus, HP, Alienware, or Fujitsu?
tokanm Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 OMG we have fujitsu's at work, maybe it is our system but they are the biggest pieces of junk I have ever used. They are constantly in need of repair, keyboard falling off, screen going dark for no apparent reason, will not stay charged. I for one would never recommend a Fujitsu.
lilac100 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 I love my Vaio but I don't have a custom one. I had the Jack problem with a Toshiba. Seems any laptop can do it and some have it happen more than others. I had a friend fix it for all of a beer. Soldered on the jack for me and away we went.
nsusa Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 Marcster, Thanks for all those links. I did not know that. I guess I have to start over again. Chris
