mommyx3
Help! I am searching for back to school pants for my ds. He is very tall, but very skinny. Size 8's fall off him, but are too short. So, I can't imagine what bumping him to a size 10 would do. With the 8's we got adjustable waistbands, so I imagine that what I will need is a good deal on size 9's with adjustable waistbands. No problem, right! Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

natasha
They don't make a size 9 for boys, but a 10 slim would probably fit him.
amyers12345
There is only one brand that makes a boys' size 9 and I can't remember what it is. We always have to buy 10 slims with an adjustable waist. Old Navy, Lee, Gap all make them. There is a huge difference between an 8 and a 10, especially lengthwise. But, I think an 8 and 10 slim are the same size waist.
scrabbler
Unfortunately, taking him shopping or buying several different brands are your best option. I had a similar issue and still take my kids to several stores to find the brand that fits them the best. And it doesn't matter if one brand fits one year as they change the cut. I know this year my dd and I had to go to several places to find a good fit. One place stopped carrying the cut that fit her. Slim are probably the way to go along with the adjustable waists. But keep trying different places too. Although Gap and Old Navy are owned by the same company, their cuts are a bit different.
heatherbade
when my son was this size he was in sears canyon river blues. then graduated to walmart and now kohl's urban pipeline. His measurements were funky.
mommyx3
Thanks to those who suggested Old Navy. I wound up buying 10's as the ARizona Jeans in a size 9 at JCP didn't have adjustable waists. Old Navy was running a weekend special w/an extra 30% off here so we wound up getting 4 pairs of jeans for $41 including tax! I was very happy! sdwilliams96
My oldest ds is the same way. Levi's make a size 9 (slim) with the adj waist. We got them last year at JCP.
