mgmckny
Thanks for the suggestion! I have had Kodak on-line support trying to figure it out without any luck too. It really sucks I was so irresponsible and threw that box away! I am really mad about it. It's just sooo much money to seem to be wasted since I can't use the product to it's fullest.I have 3 kodaks and don't use their software, I use adobe photoshop and the memory card in a card reader. Their software took up way too much memory...
rogueleader
Anyone have an idea how lucky I would be returning a digital camera with receipt but no box? Dummy me threw out the box, but it just won't download the pictures directly to my computer. Now I am NO techie, but I'd think I should be able to plug in the usb cable and download, but I get an error 'cannot get device information'.I am in charge of technology at a local elementary school. I also am in charge of the school's yearbook. We have five or six different brands and models of cameras including Kodaks. I have no proprietary software installed for any of them. I agree with the people who say you shouldn't need to install any software. MOST digital cameras (also mp3 players) function as external drives. You should be able to just plug it in and look under 'my computer'. It should show up there as a camera or perhaps something like 'drive G'. Then you click on it and go. To me the error sounds like there is something wrong with the camera or the USB cable. WM should exchange it for you. If not contact the manufacturer. In the meantime, if you have photos you need to get off the camera buy a card reader. Or if you have a MP3 player or other similar device that uses the same size card you can just put the card in there. I hope you get it to work. gtraci
I agree you shouldn't need extra software to download pictures, but my Kodak camera was never available. I could never get it to show up and if by some chance it did, I couldn't access the pictures. When I researched it the only answer was to install the software. After I installed the software, I could get the pictures. But I don't have to worry about that anymore, since I just got a new camera that I love. eazy_peazy
Thanks for all the comments and ideas. I haven't had any time to spend on this issue but I will try to figure something out. I like the idea of the memory card and a card reader.....? :gdphotog:
