momtodemons
Just a vent here, so bear with me! I opted to purchase 3 last minute gifts via Amazon and Zappos yesterday. I chose delivery via next day air which was guaranteed for 12/24 delivery. So anyway, I check the tracking this morning, and they all appear to be at the local UPS facility (only 10 miles from me), but show delivery on 12/26. I called the lovely 800 number and was informed that there was a weather delay, so I ask if I can go pick the up since they were last minute Christmas gifts and was told ever-so-nicely NO. Apparently, they are sitting on a holding truck. I am so MAD. I know it's my own fault for waiting until the last minute to order, but the shipping was GUARANTEED. UPS should be prepared for these types of delays at this time of the year. I thought I would give going down to the local office and try to reason with someone, but just found out that they close in 30 minutes. ARRRGGGHHH!! Does anyone think I just might get lucky????? bargaingal2
Since they were guaranteed you might get the extra shipping charges back, but since it was due to weather delay that might not be the case. Hoping you went down to ups and gave it a try
noehlp
I would get your local UPS's number, and call the local store, they may let you come and get them.
dmmiller
Oh this happened to me not so long ago, it wasnt for a holiday, but for a football award ceremony. It came down to being the fault of the company I ordered from, but It fell over the thanksgiving holiday, and UPS was closed till Monday morning, and I needed that package on Sunday. I even offered to drive 1 hour 30mins out of my way on Either black friday or Satuday, but they told me No way. They were on a holding truck and that no one would be there to get it off the truck till then. So I truely know how upset you Are.
happysunshine28
I would go to UPS and have them go find it. I am sure you paid alot for that to be delivered before christmas at the very least they can go find it on the truck. I wouldnt bother calling them they will be more opt to tell you NO on the phone than in person.
cianco301
That's a bummer...I live 10 mins from a UPS facility too and I have tried the same thing. The trucks are all locked up and the people working the counter don't have the keys to get into them. They probably couldn't find the right truck if they wanted to. Can you imagine how many boxes they would have to hunt through. I don't think there's any way they'll help you. SO sorry!!
scrabbler
I ordered a special lobster delivery last year for Christmas. The weather decided to not cooperate and my lobsters were stuck on a truck for an entire weekend. Instead of overnight delivery, I had dead lobsters delivered to my home. It wasn't the fault of anyone...weather is one of those variables that always throws a monkey wrench into our hopes and dreams. I called the company that sent them and they sent me a gift certificate that covered the cost of my purchase to use at my convenience. It is when incidentals crop up that we see the true measure of customer service. Hope you have good luck getting your stuff.
momtodemons
Well, no dice! These were extra presents, so maybe I can figure out a way to make it fun/special for the kids. Some boots, a game and a baby chou chou. We moved in October, so I'm thinking about telling the kids that Santa accidentally left some of their presents at the old house until he figured out we had moved. Maybe leave a letter under the Christmas tree or something?? Then since Santa had already gone back to the North Pole, UPS brought them by. Sounds good, anyway....
