hjones47 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Our DD 16 asked for money for Christmas. I am trying to come up with any fun ideas on how to wrap the money. Any suggestions????
dealluvr Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 (edited) i found this I gave my nephews walnuts for Christmas. It was alot of work but was fun to see them having to open each walnut to get their money. I gave them each 10 one dollar bills. I would crack open the walnuts and take the nut out and then fold the dollar up and glue the shell back together. Then I bought boxer shorts and put the nuts inside the shorts and then in a gift box. The gave him a calendar. On each page of the calendar they taped a $20 bill. We both got a kick out of it. The last one I tried was this! I bought a jack in the box. Jammed it with money but had to cut the clown's head off to close the box. When my granddaughter played the music and jack jumped out the money flew everywhere sponge painted a tinyl terra cotta pot gold and then filled it with gold dollar coins. I wrapped it in cellophane and tied it with gold ribbon. The card said "wishing you a pot of gold at the end of all of your rainbows." The recipient loved it! Edited December 24, 2008 by dealluvr add
racerfan Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 Separate an put some in a box inside a box inside a box etc. I did this one year for my Nephew and he loved it. He kept opening the boxes (I did 10 in all) and the money was in the last and smallest box. One year I made a money tree. I took bills and attached it to a "tree" that held ornaments. He kept it in his room and whenever he needed money would take a couple bills off the tree. You can make a tree by attaching the bills to a tree drawn on a large construction paper. Good luck. I have had fun doing this stuff for my Nephew who always wants money. This year I am got him a Visa gift card.
lakj98 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I like the Jack in the box idea. That's cute. Although I would try to do it without having to cut the clowns head off.
hjones47 Posted December 24, 2008 Author Posted December 24, 2008 These are some great ideas! I love the Jack In The Box, but my daughter has a "thing" about clowns. I know.....pathetic to be afraid of them at the age of 16!!! Might do the calendar or box idea.
4gr8girls Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I know it's a little late but I have seen where you had to do a maze to get to the money. I will have to see if I can find them. Also you could tape money to the inside of an umbrella. When she opens it it could be "raining" money. Cheesy but that's all I got:)
Rockfordmom Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 I had the same problem with a gift card, all that I got for my older son was a giftcard (besides stocking stuffers) because that's all he wants. I didn't want him to miss out on unwrapping gifts so I wrapped the giftcard and put it in a shoe box and wrapped that and put that in a bigger box... and now there's a big box under the tree for him :) You can use google and look for sites that show you how to fold money into cool shapes, here's just one cool one http://members.cox.net/crandall11/money/
steph3306 Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 My BIL has 9 kids so when the older ones ask for money he prints out "Santa Bucks" and then they can cash it in for real money later. It's pretty cute!
guilliam Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 (edited) One year I gave my mom and dad each a box of Little Debbie cakes with money inside them. I carefully slit the seal open and put the money in and then super glued it closed. They looked at me like I was nuts because you couldn't tell they had ever been opened :) I eventually had to tell them to open the box and look inside. Edited December 24, 2008 by guilliam

jeninpa Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 So how did it go? lol BTW, I don't care how old my kids are, I would probably have a fit if they asked for money or GC's! They are getting presents for life, lmao! I may take suggestions as they get older but they are still unwrapping gifts, lol.
