 No I did not have the insurance, we always get the free phones and it does not seem worth it. We have T-Mobile but it seems when I look on the site the are expensive except if you are renewing or a new service. We just renewed our contract this summer. Any thoughts on the most inexpensive way to replace it? Thanks for your help!

The Motorola F3 is readily available in the $30-range. No camera though.

Here it is at Newegg.com, brand-new for $31.99 shipped:

This Nokia might be a better bet though:

A little more money ($35.99 plus shipping), but has a real screen vs. the two-line calculator-style display on the Motorola F3.

Either phone is compatible with T-Mobile or AT&T service.

We washed a phone once. It did work after a few days of drying out...of course the screen was odd so dh decided to open it to let it dry further...yeah...that was a bad idea...very tiny wires that break very easy....

What we were able to do was add a line and get a free phone. Ended up paying for the rest of the year of the contract for the one that was gone but it was cheaper for us.

Hope you find a great answer for you!

i did the same thing the phone was not even a month old. and it was his first phone. can i tell u that phone lasted him 8 yrs. he just now got a new one. give it a cpl days.. let it dry out and see if it works. his phone had done the washer, the pool, and the bath tub with child in it, the toilet, the hot tub 3 times, and the ocean . verizon wanted to hand him a new battery after all this , cause they could not believe it was still working and this was just after the ocean. sure enough he got a free battery cause it still worked. lol.. reminded me of al bundy with his car. lol but about a month later its was not ringing anymore so he got the new phone.

My ds(2) threw my phone in a sink full of water a few months back. It would not work afterwards no matter what I did. My husband got me a new one and about 3 weeks later I dropped it in a sink full of water (trying to talk on the phone while I was washing dishes). This time I got it to work but the screen would not work so I got a new one. We did have insurance.

Last week I washed my DS's phone. He left it in his pants pocket. We did not have insurance on his phone cause it was a cheep phone and did not seem worth it. I let it dry. It wouldn't work. I took the battery out and used my blow dryer to dry the inside of the phone. Then I put the battery abck in and it worked.

Maybe if you try that it may work.

I washed my daughters phone once, caught it before it went in the dryer. We took the battery out and left the back off for 3 days & then put it back together, charged it & it worked. It was a samsung slide phone & the screen went out about 4 months later. She is now using my old samsung stripe prepaid phone. I just put her sim card in & she was back in business. Costco has a pretty nice TMobile prepaid samsung slide phone for $50. Just ask at the wireless kiosk, they're not on display (same phone is $89 or more at BB).

I have heard of 2 different kids in the last month or so that dropped their phones in a porta potty. No they didn't go digging for it. I hope that your DH's phone works again. I dropped my phone in a sink, and it died. It's nice to hear about the rice trick.

Try removing the battery and placing the phone in a bag of rice. Let it dry for a few days and then try replacing the battery in it and seeing if it works.

That was what I was going to suggest. I hear it works. My friend has washed hers a few times. And if you end up drying it out, it may work just fine. Hers did. Good luck!

You probably know soomeone with a drawer full of older phones that got put in the drawer when they upgraded. We asked at church one Sunday when we needed one and several people offerred us decent phones with cameras that they were no longer using. Also, consider ebay. Sometimes you can find good deals there. We have bought phones off of ebay twice. Good luck.

My wife was watering the lawn and her cell phone fell out of her pocket onto the ground without her noticing. By the time she did notice it had gotten a good soakng. We took the battery out, and let it dry a couple of days. Worked as good as new....for about a year. Then the display quit. When I took it apart to look at it, it was all corroded inside from the watering it had taken before. After this had happened I heard about the "rice trick". It seems that rice draws out the moisture in the phone. So, while letting the phone dry out may work for a while, it will probably be left with some moisture inside. Therefore the best thing to try is putting it in rice, as others have suggested.
