Any ps game system will play the games made for THAT system or lower. So a ps3 will play ps3's, ps2's ps1's etc, but a ps2 will only play ps2's and lower.

Actually, some of the PS3's DO NOT play PS2 games. If you go to the Sony webite, they will give you a list of the PS3's that do.

Yeah...we cannot play PS2 games on our PS3 but we can play PS1 games.
