I always give something to my mail carrier...usually it's a cute item I've made, but this year I think I'll get some gift certificates for a fast food restaurant

we never get the same UPS person or I'd do something for them too

I never know if we have a new paper delivery person either or they'd be on my list too

They are not allowed to accept cash. They can accept gifts under $20. I gave mine a Starbucks gift card last year. Will probably do something similar this year. :fluffy:

... that is the "official" stance of the USPS when interviewed...

Give them whatever you want to. No one will tell. I am sure there will never was a mailman turn down some cold hard cash.

Do you know for sure your mailman even likes coffee? ;)

My mailman reads my magazines before I get them, and barely gets my mail into the box all the way. Doesn't shut the box either so if it's raining, all of my mail is soaked, even the mags that HE got to read, but I won't get to until it dries out.

Sigh. Not sure what I would get him, if anything.

My mail carrier is insane

If you attempt to go near the mail boxes she stands and shouts

"step away from the mail receptacle, it is a federal violation to approach the letter carrier

when she is delivering the mail" WTH :eyepoppin

Last year someone at the post office backed into her and she had a broken leg. I asked

the replacement carrier where she was and he said..the job wasn't completed :gdparanoid:

She is well known as a total lunatic..so no, no gift for her!

I got my mailman a gc to McDonalds. This year I will probably just do some cash. He is so nice - he always works hard at Christmas for me and wraps my boxes in plastic if it is raining and he has to leave them on our porch.

We never have the same trash man so I don't get them anything - I probably should though.

We have community boxes here as well, and occasionally I will see the carrier but not often. Besides, there is no place for me to leave a gift nor do I have the time to sit and wait (and guess) when she is coming. However, if I had my own mailbox I would as my grandma used to do it for her mailman :)

Exactly. My mailman even mentioned something about it one year and just laughed. No way they'll turn it down, especially if you see them frequently.

Prior to this year, at the house, I have always given our mail carrier a Christmas Card *at least*. Last Christmas money was tighter, so it was a card and Homemade cookies & treats. Two years ago I put a gas gift card in there, I've also given Mc Donald's GC's, and thin ornaments that would fit in the envelope.

If we are still in this apartment come Christmas time, I probably won't do anything for this carrier. I don't know the person, hardly see them. We have this big post office type thing up at the complex's main building that we get our mail at. So no door service.

The old carrier at the house, I've never gotten his first name, but he is nice, smiles, has no problem giving my kiddos the mail (some carriers do). I miss seeing him. (no he's not a hotty, but he's nice). He always returns a Christmas Card around the first of the year, but I always laugh, because he never puts our name on it, even though I would think he would know it. lol

I haven't in years past since we just have a community mail center on our street. Recently our mail carrier changed and she is so darn nice. She will actually come to my house and drop off packages so I don't have to go all the way to town to get them. I don't know what I will get her yet but will have to do something nice for her. The case of beer for the garbage men is a good idea, too. Mine are super nice.

I don't know mine, don't even know if it's the same person every day. I've gotten wet mail, someone else's mail and he/she won't knock on the door to deliver a certified letter/package or whatever else might need to be signed for. I can't get to the PO during the week so have to get there before 12 on sat. to get it. Very annoying.

OMG I LITERALLY lol'd at this one!!!!:cheesy:

I lol'd at this one too. :lmao:

No gifts for my mailman here! I think he is the reason why half of my mail never gets here. There is no telling where my wags rebate check is?!?! Not to mention the packages that he keeps in his car and doesn't deliver until the 3rd day he's had them!! And usually they get crammed in the mailbox. Oh and he doesn't shut our box either. I know it's not broken or has a problem, he just leaves it open. Makes me so mad!! And then there's the substitue lady who pulls in the driveway and lays on the horn. My house isn't even 30 feet from the road and the door is 10 feet from our driveway. Don't tell me you can't walk 10 feet and put a package on our doorstep. That's probably why half my mail never gets here. They hate me cause of all the packages I get delivered. The UPS guy is always someone different. He just drops packages on the porch and leaves, doesn't even knock. Good thing I hear him pull up most the time. Yeah I need a new mailman.

Man! I'd be setting traps for her on a daily basis. At the least standing next to my mailbox when she comes for her deliveries. I'd also call her Mrs. Cliff Claven.
