Scott
NewEgg has the Canon CanoScan LIDE90 2400 x 4800dpi 48bit USB Interface Flatbed Scanner for only $59.99 with free shipping. http://c1.neweggimages.com/NeweggImage/ProductImageCompressAll200/38-111-014-04.jpg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16838111014 I have personally used the LIDE series of scanners and I love them. It is great that there is no power cord... just the USB cord. I will probably grab one of these to replace my aging LIDE scanner.

RossMAN
Canon LIDE scanners are great and offer the most bang for your buck. I agree with the following positive review:Pros: Easy install, Quality out of the box. Prompt order processing and delivery - as usual :). No power supply needed - USB. FAST warm up and scan time. Mickey62
Thanks, I have been thinking about getting a new flatbed scanner and the reviews are great..thanks Scott! I would have to think this scanner is much better than my Epson Perfection 1250 which I have had for several years.
mudechevy
Awesome! I want one. But can I purchase some space on my desk to go with it?
Scott
Awesome! I want one. But can I purchase some space on my desk to go with it? I believe that this one actually has a stand so that you can mount the scanner vertically. That should make it have a much smaller footprint on your desktop. I could be wrong though... my earlier version has it. Edit Found this pic of the scanner mounted vertically: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/product/250/UV/591733.jpg Of course, it is pretty silly since the user is putting the photo in upside down.... But you get the idea.
mudechevy
Hmmm. Thanks Scott. I bet it would be even easier to scan fabric than a photo vertically.
