Specs:

  • Intel Dual-Core Processor E2160
  • Windows Vista Home Basic
  • Dell 20" E207WFP Flat Panel LCD (free upgrade from E198WFP)
  • 1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
  • 16X DVD-ROM Drive
  • 160GB Hard Drive (free upgrade from 80GB)
  • Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 3100

  • 56k modem NOT included
  • 1 year warranty

Recommended upgrades:

  • 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz - 2DIMMs [add $25]
  • 16X (DVD+/-RW) Burner Drive [add $15]
  • 250GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/DataBurst Cache™ [add $30]
  • Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium, Service Pack 1 [add $29]

Disclaimer: This is an entry level desktop which should be well suited for mainstream users. No this isn't a "state of the art" machine and probably won't play the latest games due to the integrated graphics. Since it comes with Windows Vista, it is highly recommended that you upgrade to 2GB RAM. You don't have to upgrade the RAM immediately, you can upgrade later and this desktop will function with 1GB RAM. Again I would highly recommend upgrading from 1GB to 2GB RAM for $25.

You should upgrade the video card too... and go with more ram. It isnt really a gaming set up... there are better ones. But with a monitor its a good deal ... sorry im a bit rambly today.

a video card upgrade would be needed if the kids want to play games. i think these require a slim line type of video card which doesn't give you a whole lot of selections but i can be wrong and it could take a typical PCI-E type card.
